Great food, great service, highly recommended.
Barcelona Tapas Bar Y Restaurante – CityGreat meal at Barcelona’s last night. Very quiet due to Covid. Went for the classic tapas selection with a bottle of Muga. Divine! Service was attentive but not overbearing. The only reason atmosphere was marked down was due to the lack of punters. No fault of the restaurant. Will return in a heartbeat!
Barcelona Tapas Bar Y Restaurante – CityI have enjoyed every meal purchased. The staff are polite and friendly.
Jerkkies – CityInitial seeming a spacious vault with contrived basic, uncomfortable furnishings - it's soon redeemed by the sumptuous menu. The starter of potted salt brisket is a must (posh salt beef...) and very filling. My friend was accommodated without fuss to meet her gluten free requirements. There is great variety on the menu for fish and meat lovers alike. The place lacked a certain amount of atmosphere until it filled up. As a City of London haunt it is quiet at the weekends but quite nice for brunch.
Bread Street Kitchen – CityA firm favourite for either a special occasion (if you let them know in advance they'll serve desert with the name iced on) or any time during the week or weekend. Great choice of starters and moorish breads and menu not limited to meat. Even when we take our young daughter they always make her feel welcome. Ask for a booth as they're more comfy. Don't be put off by the shopping centre venue - the views are great and only 5 mins from St Paul's tube.
Barbecoa – CityI stayed here for two nights the service was good, breakfast was great and the room very nice. The building is very spacious and novel. Above all its in a great location for visiting the South Bank and all it has to offer. The Millennium bridge is 5 minutes away. St Pauls has a lovely atmosphere with lots of bars and restaurants I enjoyed my stay at The Grange and would stay there again.
Grange St Paul’s Hotel – CityMcQueen is a beautifully decorated venue in the heart of Shoreditch. You automatically feel like a celeb in such a cool, quirky bar and the food is amaze! Went with the girls last week for a quick one after work and we ended up staying for several drinks and platters. Music was good too! Recommend to you all.. :)
Grill At McQueen – CityLittle Bay is excellent. You won't find anywhere better in Farringdon.
Little Bay – CityStunning venue tucked away off Lothbury - lovely once you've found it! Beautiful long cocktail bar, relaxing lounge booths and amazingly light Indian food - especially in the weekly City Lunch menu. Definitely worth a look.
Mint Leaf Lounge and Restaurant – CityMy favourite Caribbean restaurant. The Saltfish fritters are just magnificent and the Goat Curry fantastic. this is a must if you are in this part of town
Cottons EC1 – CityRecently went to Tart attending a friends do. What a great venue for a party ! Great intimate venue with a fantastic music system. Rumour has it its the same as Ministry of Sound. I loved the drinks. I am a vodka drinker and they had plenty of top shelf offerings but also the staff were great at recommending new flavours. Going to Tart for the food is worth it in itself. Especially a Tartini. Ever had liquid Lemon Merigue Pie in a glass ? or Bakewell Tart ? I think my tastebuds last wish would be for a Tiramisu Tartini ! The food is a mixture of tapas/finger food, full of flavour. I think I lost count of how many Nacho and Pork Belly servings my girlfriend had ! My preference was three helpings of the chicken kebabs that had a Caribbean twist ! The staff are helpful, very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. I would highly recommend Tart, especially for a private hire events. We had to wait several weeks to get a booking at this venue. You get the glamorous surroundings all to yourself ! Lock the doors, turn the music up and swig back some cocktails. An after work beer, Tartini and kebab isnt out of the question though. You know what . . . . . I may just pop down there now. With the weather, its too good a chance to miss !
Tart – CityPopped in on a Wednesday evening and caught the Champions League football, some lovely Tapas and probably a few too many Beers and Rioja... Good food and great match atmosphere... Will be back again soon
Barcelona Tapas Bar Y Restaurante – CityNice but noisy old style London pub converted from an old counting house. Selection of ales is very good, and the pies they serve are fantastic. Recommended for a good value solid eat near Bank.
Counting House – CityGood food, with a selection of traditional and unusual starters and mains. Comfortable atmosphere even when eating alone. Gets busy Wednesdays and Thursdays with the works nights out. Worth a trip for a nice meal followed by a pint in the old style pub next door, Walrus & Carpenter.
Rajasthan Restaurant – CityComptoir Gascon was fantastic!!! The service and food was amazing. The price was also very relative. I really liked the basic style of restaurant. I love the fact that you can go up to the cheese bar and select your cheeses and cakes! I am sure to return in the near future.
Comptoir Gascon – CityAbsolutely awful customer service. Ordered a take away at lunch time, and was kept waiting for ages (10+ minutes). I did appreciate it was busy at such times, so asked their staff (guy in black without glasses) when my food would be ready. Then I heard the rudest statement at a take away ever: "Next time you order, mind the time. We are very busy now." Thank you for the instruction - there will definitely not be a next time! Btw my order, vegetarian ramen with pumpkin soup, was absolutely bland with no trace of flavour or whatsoever, only a messy tangle of textureless noodles and some starchy, yellow "soup" with some rather mysterious looking veggies.
Tokyo City – CityFood was fabulous - the Iberico Pork was amazing - also the service was fabulous particularly Maki
Saki Bar and Food Emporium – CityHow is it possible for an Italian restaurant to get pizza wrong? Attilios know how! When they saw their customer not eating their pizza (i.e. me), did they come and ask how was the food, even though the owner was watching from just 3 metres away (but proud enough to paint his own face on the wall twice!). Am I writing this because I am bored and have nothing better to do - NO! I called over the owner and said I was very upset that the pizza was undercooked, he said I make a new one if you like, I said no need, if anything please give me a glass of wine. He did that, and then had the cheek to charge me for it! I have never had a terrible pizza before, I did not know it was possible! Next time, although it galls me to go to a chain, I'll go to Carluccio's! NB the lighting in there is awful.
