Lovely welcome on arrival and out table of 5 was ready for 1pm as booked. Great menu choices for Autumn…. Loved the butternut squash salad, amazingly filling! Service great. The staff here are friendly and helpful too, so, combined with the pleasant surroundings, it is a really enjoyable place to have something gorgeous to eat and drink.

The Hare and Hounds – ColchesterReally enjoyed the roast here. We booked last minute, we were finding it difficult to book anywhere that was still serving a Sunday Roast early evening. The staff were very attentive, we were given the heads up when we arrived that there was only one roast turkey left which we reserved for our daughter before we looked through the menu. The portions were generous, plenty of vegetables that were cooked perfectly, 3 slices of meat and lovely tasty gravy. Hadnt been here before would definately go back. Excellent

Really wasn’t disappointed Food took a little longer to cook as expected but when it can out it was delicious. Very obvious it was freshly cooked so worth the wait (25 minutes) . Waiter Sharon was friendly and helpful which made our night out better. Recommend!

The food was good, the service was good, everyone enjoyed their meals and commented on it . The only fault was the vegetarian meal which was dull and unimaginative. My gluten free meal was very nice.

A few things prompted this. 1 the lady on the desk, checking people in was very abrupt and not at all welcoming. 2 the menue seems to only cater for main meals, not light lunches, at quite high prices. Nowhere could we find, sandwiches, jacket potoes etc. This is such a shame as we have been coming g for years. It was my late father's favourite place to eat, even though he lived in Brentwood. Whenever asked for his birthday or special occasion where he wanted to go, it was always here. I feel sad and disappointed that things have changed in this way. As it was always a treat to come to eat and shop
