Second visit yesterday for breakfast and just as amazing as the first time. Great food, great staff, great atmosphere, lovely and warm and great shopping afterwards. This lively place was recommended to us and I’d didn’t disappoint.
The Barn Garden Centre Cafe – ColchesterHad yet another great meal at The Barn. Food, staff and service as good as always. My only criticism would be that it can sometimes be a little noisy in the restaurant but that is outweighed by all the good things.

The food as excellent too! Big portions and really tasty! We will be making this our regular Christmas meal destination - thank you!

As usual, The Barn didn't disappoint and made us both welcome. All the staff are friendly and helpful. We only wanted coffee and a toasted teacake, which was delicious.

Recently I picked up on your advertising maybe or something that caught my attention and decided to try for myself. I was really impressed and even my request was acknowledged and replied to. The food was lovely the staff most pleasant the ambiance perfect! Especially fitting for a miserable Sunday afternoon. I will definitely be using it as a regular choice of restaurant now. The Blue Anchor – ColchesterWonderful lunch at the Barn Cafe, great service and such lovely food. Always such a lovely place to enjoy food & drinks. We ordered the ham, egg & chips, plus the open club sandwich, all so tasty and hot. We love this place :)

The food, staff & ambience were all excellent. My friend had ribeye steak (cooked perfectly) that she enjoyed very much & I had tomato pasta, also very good. We will definitely be going back.

The Blue Anchor – ColchesterHad breakfast on Saturday 23/11/2024. The food was lovely but we had problems the drinks. Coffee was cold, so went back & when it returned the milk had separated. This was replaced. Ordered second drinks & one diner had to wait over half an hour for their cup of tea. Then we had to ask for it twice. It felt like it had been forgotten but when we asked we were told it was a bit backed up in the kitchen. This was poor service

We weren’t rushed at all and they brought out a dessert for her with happy birthday piped in chocolate on the plate without prompting which was a lovely touch.
The Blue Anchor – ColchesterWe have had a few lovely meals at the blue anchor, the last time being yesterday (sat) Burger looked amazing and was large! The chicken supreme was also a lovely meal that tasted great. We had a roast dinner the time before and that way great although veg and potatoes were slightly hard. Atmosphere is always amazing and staff are friendly and attentive. First class service.

A traditional pub with a nice atmosphere. The well in the middle of our table was an unusual feature and quite a talking point.
