Fantastic food, excellent service in beautiful surroundings with fantastic views of the harbour. Certainly well worth a visit.

Juliets Garden Restaurant – Scilly IslesHello. Myself and my husband ate at this restaurant two weeks ago. Although it was a Saturday the service was spot on. Even if I sat here and tried there was nothing to complain about. The food was amazing. I had the scallops and black pudding followed by the pork followed by "the Beast"! Do yourself a favour and get down to Padstow! Loved it. The staff were lovely which always makes a meal too.
Paul Ainsworth at No 6 – Padstowabsolutely my favourite. Been there loads of times and every time a winner.great food taken loads of friends wish i could eat there every week fantastic
White Pyramid – St AustellThis Cafe has the ambience, food quality & presentation of a Blackpool Pleasure Beach Cafe with the prices a of a central London Restaurant - we regrettably didn't check prices before we entered but saw the sign & fancied fish & chips. The no more than 5oz Battered Haddock was tasteless, arrived only with a large bowl of McDonalds style (very thin) chips, a very small bowl of rock hard peas & tartare sauce!. For this & 2 small bottles of Coca Cola we paid £39! This is the worst value establishment have have ever been to - an absolute 'rip-off'
Blue Tomato Cafe – WadebridgeI had a very bad experience on my first (and certainly the last!) visit to this restaurant. I had dinner here recently with my wife and 14-month old son and although this place described itself as 'family-friendly', when I arrived there I was told rather tersely and unsympathetically that they do not have or provide high chairs for small children. When I questioned the owner (Abdul) about their claim on restaurant guides/websites of being 'family-friendly', his curt reply was - "you should have checked before you came and made the decision beforehand"!! To me this came across as an absolutely nasty shock and being particularly rude. Basically, he was implying that families with children are NOT welcome at his restaurant! Moving on to the food, I have to say that not only was the food far from authentic Indian (it was clearly Bangladeshi!), but it did not taste good either. The seafood we ordered was certainly not fresh and too much of colour and spices were used. To make things even worse, everything on the menu was overpriced (I have eaten in popular upmarket Indian restaurants in London and the prices at The Raj were around the same!). I feel that this is a really cheeky and dishonest tactic because the general impression is that if something is priced rather high, then it must be good!! Even the pappad and pickles that is served on arrival was charged at a ridiculous £3.80!! The really cheeky thing about this 'pappad business' is that as soon as we sat at our table the waiter comes up to you and casually asks you 'how many pappads you would like'. He never mentions (and I'm sure is clearly instructed not to!) that it is not complimentary, rather will be charged. This is a very deceptive tactic, as the guest is tricked into thinking that it is a complimentary item (as it indeed is in many good Indian restaurant across UK). The worst part of my experience at this restaurant was the absolutely impolite and uncouth behaviour by the owner of this place, Mr.Abdul. Not only is this person totally incapable of conversing with his guests in a polite and decent manner, but moreover he has this attitude about him that seems to suggest that he is doing his customers a favour by letting them eat at his place!! He needs to learn to talk and behave like the local people, especially those in Cornwall, who are amongst the most friendly in this country.
The Raj Indian Bar and Restaurant – WadebridgeThis restaurant /cafe - as others have indicated is pricey. Expensive is OK if visible and reflected in value. Unfortunately this was not our experience last week (Sep 09) We were handed menus and our gaze directed to the 'Specials' on display. Without checking the Menu we went for the trad. fish & chips on the board (pricey we thought at £9 ish each - but "hey this is Rock - it'll be good") We ordered two fish but with just one portion of chips for the 2 of us; Fish was fine - not excellent. Chips were matchstick frozen type but the pot of peas were 'rock' (pardon the pun) hard. Hungry.... we were fed. We were more than surprised though, to be presented with a bill for £33.50 which included a coke and tonic water. On checking - we were told that the 'on board ' price was the 'take away price' Sadly, we hadnt consulted the Menu after being shown the boards....knowledge is all Wont be going back. Far better value to be had elsewhere. PS Tables could do with a scrub. Wooden slats ingrained with ketchup doesn't look good. On the positive side - the waitress was pleasant, the location is enviable as is the classy seaside ambience but they shouldn't expect to profit from that alone by maximising takings from unwitting visitors in the short season.
Blue Tomato Cafe – WadebridgeWhat a fantastic place. I`ve payed double for what i`ll eaten today.Thanx so much staff was great
Firehouse Bar and Grill – St IvesDuring our recent stay in Cornwall we had many good meals including the "taster menu" at Rick's posh place. None was more memorable than last Tuesday's at Seven Bays - nice ambience, attentive and friendly service, decent wine reasonably priced and very good food. We both started with the moules mariniere which was a good as we had at The Ivy recently - and that I declared was the best I had ever had of a dish I frequently order. The whole meal was splendid - I hope to repeat the experience soon.
Seven Bays Bistro – PadstowJust superb......... not much else to say really!
Paul Ainsworth at No 6 – PadstowI am rarely allowed to go to the same restaurant twice (and if I do say I liked something especially then I am told by my other half to be more adventurous). And she is rarely known to be excited by fish. However, on our recent holiday, we went to the greenhouse on a Sunday and on leaving booked for the fish evening on the following Wednesday (booking is almost essential so do it!). We are very keen on eating (and buying) locally sourced foods and The Greenhouse did not disappoint. In fact we both ate fish for starters and main both visits! The curry (pollock) was delicious and the moules scored 100% (ie moules per shell), a very high score compared to Ealing. Our host explained this was down to the cooking (just right). Crab soup, sprats, bread - home made with oil and balsamic - puddings - all were fresh and delicious. I would like to have worked through the menu but we had to come home. I cannot recommend this place more highly and if you are anywhere near The Lizard make it an evening out (and drink local cider with the meal - great). The owners work incredibly hard and the prices are very reasonable - go for it.
Greenhouse Organic Restaurant – The LizardLovely location, ice cold beer, but lacklustre food served by disinterested staff spoil what could be an ideal spot, sadly.
The Basement – PadstowFantastic Food - ask for a table overlooking the harbour if you can. Booking essential. Very Popular. The best eatery in St Ives is Seafood Cafe - Best Service & Fantastic food.
Firehouse Bar and Grill – St Ivesgreat food and service with a smile, will go there again when I'm next in Porthcurno....
Cable Station Inn – Penzancei've just enjoyed a fantastic lunch at the courtyard deli. Fresh, interesting well dressed salad leaf mix with toasted seeds for added crunch accompanied a lovely potato, cheese and garlic quiche (that i can't remember the local name for). Along with this came spoonfuls of smashing cold salad bar goodies - i can thoroughly recommend the lentil, cinnamon and mango salad (i know it doesn't sound good but it was subtle and superb) along side the fresh local toms, cuc, and cous cous mix. Excellent quality produce and friendly service.
The Courtyard Deli – FalmouthWe were staying in Plymouth for two nights, 18/08/09 - 20/08/09 but ended up traveling to the mawgan porth area. The beach was absolutely amazing lots of features and very high currents, really good fun if you can swim. both lunch time and dinner time on both days we ate at the Fire Restaurant, what an amazing place, the menu was outstanding, the decor was really nice to have around and the waitress, well she was truly awesome, really friendly, good service and was completely flexible on ordering, she brought out small tasters, combined drinks and even sat down with us for a chat. The girl that served us was telling us that she was visiting mawgan porth and found the restaurant and went in asked for a job and started the next day if anyone needs a job, great place. Even for me a 17 year old it was still an awesome place how ever old you are there is something for everyone. There is one downside working at Fire, the waitress hadn't been home for 9 months, so that can be an issue. After my family had eaten at Fire she and I went off for a walk down the beach just a few meters away from the restaurant that was really nice, and got to know her very well. I would defiantly Travel from the midlands back to mawgan porth, an amazing place to visit and I highly recommend it to everyone. We are going back in October again for a week this time and staying in Mawgan Porth and I can't wait to eat there again. Ed
Fire Bar Bistro and Grill – NewquayWe have had a wonderful holiday in Cornwall supported by our two visits to this lovely restaurant. The food is local, delicious and exciting and the welcome was warm. If you want a restaurant that makes everything from scratch including the bread and that accommodates children with smaller portions of any of the adult meals but still retains a sophisticated, friendly atmosphere I recommend this wholeheartedly... oh and probably book because it would be such a shame not to experience it for yourself.
Greenhouse Organic Restaurant – The Lizardwaited 20 mins for drink and popodoms, ordered starters and main, waited 45 mins, main arrived,no starters before.sent mains back, waited another 15 mins for drinks, starters arrived.ok.main arrived very ordinary, not a good balance of flavours,in fact everything tasted the same like a cheap Chinese. i really wouldn't bother, manager acts like a cockney wide boy should be selling cars not serving food!!!! an altogether terrible experience,go to a supermarket buy a curry its cheaper and tastes better.
Jaipur Indian Cuisine – PerranporthWe dined at the Greenhouse twice during our week long holiday in St Keverne last week - the food, wine and service is excellent and the cosy atmosphere delightful. We enjoyed a selection of fresh homemade bread, sardines, red mullet, venison curry, pork belly and an amazing peanut butter & chilli ice cream - what a treat!! What’s particularly good is that children are welcome in the restaurant - my 10 year old son loved the fish & chips and homemade ice cream. Having dined in some top restaurants in London it’s great to find a gem of a restaurant like the Greenhouse where the food is equally as good if not better - top marks to Neil and Leonie. We plan on coming back to this area of Cornwall again and will certainly make sure we are booked into the Greenhouse for dinner…and most likely more than once!!
