The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessWent with husband and 2 granddaughters for lunch. Excellent portions (by that I mean large, really no need for the extra chips we ordered). Beautiful decor. While I agree the service is a little slow the staff were run off their feet, restaurant was very busy, we waited a reasonable amount of time for our food but at least it is freshly prepared and not microwaved. Looking forward to returning, and hopefully go for an evening meal. Staff are very polite, attentive and very hardworking, the owner should be very proud.
The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessFood was good but the service was terrible, we sat waiting over 20 mins for someone to take our order and when we approached a member of staff she was very apologetic and took our order only for someone to return and say that the pasta dish was no longer on offer so 2 of us had to choose again, there were a number of dishes crossed out on the menu already even fish and chips which was disappointing, our scampi dish came with salad dressing and coleslaw when we specifically asked for it to be omitted not a great experience, we all had coleslaw and the menu doesn't really point out it comes with everything. We were offered cakes to make up for the poor service and the staff member who came to speak to us was lovely. The restaurant was busy and it is appreciated that waiting times will be longer on such occasions but there appeared to be little or no organisation.
The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessLovely food and service!

The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessLovely decor, food and great menu. Have been twice now and the only thing I would say is that the service is a little slow, could just do with a few extra staff on the floor. Seemed to be a lot of staff behind the counter not out front this time.

The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessWe had only used the cafe during the day and it was on a recent visit that we noticed that it had started to serve some evenings and the menu had been extended to include pasta and pizza do we decided to try it. Booking was easy using the website with a rapid response and confirmation. The place had such a different atmosphere on the evening. It was lovely and will definitely go again. The service was very prompt and the food was really good.
The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessExcellent service superb food we had breakfast
The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessI can not find any fault in the meal, very nice. Really nice staff will be going back.. The renovation is to a high standard. Only issue was my husband had to remind staff that we had been waiting 20 minutes and no service, think we had Been forgotten about.
The Bakehouse – Barrow-in-FurnessThe renovation looks amazing and seems so much bigger. We booked a table for lunch on the day as we’ve always enjoyed the food there and the lunch was really tasty. In this current climate I did have concerns. People were allowed in without booking (especially at the busiest time), there was no real instruction with the track and trace form (handed them in at the till and they were just chucked to the side), people were being shown to tables by squeezing past an occupied table, not everyone had PPE on and the drinks came after our food.I understand there may be some teething issues with reopening in a pandemic and hopefully these get ironed out.
