Highland Laddie – Darlington

The ambience of this new pub is lovely and with all the different side rooms it gives a cozy feel. The food was fresh paninis which were really good for a light bite. This is definitely a great friendly town centre pub and nothing like the other town centre pubs.

Bay Horse Inn – Darlington

We eat here at least once a month and receive fantastic no frills food at a good price. The staff are great....especially Louise who you feel that you have known her all your life. A true family business that looks after their customers. Try it once and you will be back again.

The Chequers Inn – Darlington

Have just returned from our first evening visit to The Chequers Inn. And what a night! The place was packed, with that thriving, jostling atmosphere that I thought had gone from village pubs for good. How pleasant to join the merry throng at the bar, to chat to the jolly locals and find staff that are enjoying themselves rushing about, whilst still finding time to talk. In particular we all enjoyed seeing the landlord at the helm, obviously a master at work. How rare it is now to find a good old fashioned landlord who wants to talk to you, is charming and enjoys a laugh (a smile is getting rare nowadays in many establishments!) whilst keeping the busy pub running. We found all of the staff faultless, from the friendly bar staff to the lovely young waitresses. The food was good homecooked fare, which despite the packed restaurant we did not wait for. We have enjoyed a thoroughly pleasant evening. The atmosphere of a location really does change the whole night, creating (as we have found tonight) groups from which the laughter rings out, and everyone exchanges smiles and witticisms as they pass. Well worth recommending.

Possible the best landlord I have ever encountered; charismatic, welcoming, charming and very good fun. After a great welcome we sat in the lounge where the charming atmosphere and friendly people and staff made is feel like village locals. The food is great, something a bit different than what you would expect from a small village pub. We thoroughly enjoyed, will definitely return and shall be shouting their praises to all of our friends.

My husband and I have eaten there quite a number of times and find that every thing about the place is very good and would recommend it to anyone that asked for a good eatin place

Country Man Public House The – Darlington

Phenomenal menu selection - set aside at least 10-15mins just to read it! The vegetarian selection is excellent, imaginative and very well prepared. Portions are enormous, and if you manage to squeeze in a dessert you'll find an extensive selection of those too, and they're all fabulous. Popular every day so book early. Very well priced - and their Sunday Carvery is brilliant too (although there's no booking so get there early!)

Good home cooked food and friendly service

Baydale Beck Inn – Darlington
food buff

As a group of 6 people who regularly eat hear, we can't fault it. It is a no nonsense, down to earth eating house with good food and great staff. I think this is a well kept secret. Don't expect frills and fancies. Chris (proprietor) does fantastic steaks. Matured and prepared to order. Ask for a kebab, you will be surprised (gastronomically)

Never been to a restaurant with so much choice, and all fresh, took me 15mins just to read the menu. the atmosphere was great just wanted to stay there all night. imagine one restaurant where u can have a starter from India, a main course from china and a dessert from Italy all in one night.

Bridge Inn – Darlington

From entering the restaurant u instantly feel as though you are abroad, with the Mediterranean decor. The palm trees are a nice touch aswell! "Food From Around the world" they quote, but i can honestly say its true! The food was excellent!
