Lovely atmosphere, brilliant staff, very tasty food at exceptional price. What's not to like?
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryBooked for a family meal to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food, staff, atmosphere and indeed everything about The Admiral Nelson, lived up to and exceeded my expectations which, if I'm honest, we're already quite high. Nothing was too much trouble, service was attentive but not over bearing and everyone was more than satisfied with the quality and quantity of their meals. Can't wait to come back.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryEnjoyable evening with great service, lovely atmosphere, very good burgers and an excellent couple of pints. Just what was needed on a winter’s evening.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryFood is usually good. But came on Saturday afternoon & several items not hot. Soup was warm. Asked for mashed potato instead of chips for elderly relative. Charged £2 extra & again was only warm. Staff always friendly. It wasn’t the best meal we’ve had at the Nelson.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryAmazing burgers. 100% recommend.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryWe had the Sunday roast and the quality was top notch (and the portion size more than generous). Staff were brilliant, attentive and highly efficient. Combined with the pleasant atmosphere in both the restaurant and the pub area it made for a very enjoyable experience and we will be back.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryMe and the wife love eating out and trying new places. This place was recommended to us so we gave it a try. We were not disappointed. The place has a great feel to it, the food is superb and so is the service. We will 100% be going back to try something else! …..oh and the chips that came with the steak ! OMG they are quite honestly the best chips/fries I have ever had.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryWe’ve been to the Admiral Nelson a few times now and always enjoy its sharing roast platter. There’s always more than enough, it’s hot, tasty and nicely cooked but the roast potatoes weren’t so good this time as when we’ve previously been. Our boys both had burgers and my eldest said they were the best chips he’s ever had. If I’m going to be picky I feel that burgers dominate the menu somewhat and it is a little bit cramped on there depending on where you’re sat and how busy it is. But it has a nice atmosphere.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventrySunday lunch , had better and a lot worse. Average, potatoes not great which is important to me for a roast especially as I’d ordered extra! Extra pigs and blankets very poor portion only three tiny ones so not vfm don’t order. 6.5/10 as pub roasts go.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryExcellent service and food, the waiting staff in particular are brilliant .
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryLovely pub that was pet friendly with an interesting menu. The food quality was great and the service was attentive and friendly. The pub was a bit noisy but quieted down towards the end of our meal. We don't often travel to this area but, if we did, we'd definitely visit again.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryWe booked a table for New Year’s Eve back in September, so we weren’t sure what to expect in terms of menu or entertainment. On arrival, the pub appeared very quiet and almost looked closed. We were shown to our table by a waitress. The pub wasn’t busy, and most guests had already finished eating. We were asked for drinks shortly after sitting down and ordered a bottle of wine. We were asked if we were ready to order food when the wine arrived. I asked for a little more time, but the waitress returned very quickly. The menu choice was limited unless you wanted a burger, with around 25 different burger options. I chose the curry, and my husband ordered a burger. Once ordered, the food arrived within about five minutes. The curry appeared to be microwaved, as the sauce had hot and cold spots and also lacked flavour. My husband said his burger was enjoyable but chips were cool. During the meal, the waitress repeatedly looked at our table to see if we had finished. As soon as my husband ate his last chip, our plates were cleared immediately, and we were asked if we wanted anything else, but we were not offered a dessert menu. We then heard the waitress call into the kitchen that our table had finished. From arrival to cleared plates, around 35 minutes had passed. The staff were mostly very young, including in the kitchen, and it felt as though we were being rushed so they could finish their shift. While this is understandable on New Year’s Eve, it negatively affected the experience. It may have been better not to serve food at all that evening or to stop serving earlier. We were given the bill without being offered anything further and left after around 45 minutes in total. We were not acknowledged as we left. Perhaps it was just the night, but the atmosphere and food were very lacklustre, and we wouldn’t rush to return. It’s a shame, especially at a time when pubs are closing so frequently.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryGreat service and good food. Will certainly go back.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryFantastic pub, great vibe, pet friendly, lovely location and great food quality, reasonably priced too!
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryInteresting menu and the burgers we had were superb. However, we found the menu a bit limited compared to what it used to be. Whilst there were alternatives to burgers the choice was certainly much less than we were used to seeing. It’s now much more a burger restaurant than anything else. Whilst we would certainly go again, it’s likely to be infrequently rather than regularly. Certainly miss the original menu.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryAnother fabulous meal at the Admiral Nelson. Whenever we visit family in Rugby we do a canal walk and make a trip to this fantastic waterside pub. V friendly staff and welcoming to dogs.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryWe’d passed this pub in our narrow boat lots but never eaten there. This was a pre-Xmas night out with friends and we all thought it was excellent particularly the food - all arrived quickly and was delicious - and the service which was with a smile. Would definitely go back.
The Admiral Nelson – DaventryI booked for the festive menu and wasn’t disappointed. The food was beautifully cooked and the service was first class. Thank you to all of the team at The Admiral Nelson.
