We booked a meal for 4 adults yesterday ( Sunday) . It was a special occasion .we live an hour away +my brother lives 2 hours away. Unfortunately we were all disappointed by the roast dinner . No greens at all, one walnut sized stuffing ball, 3 roast potatoes not cooked well . We have had much better Sunday roasts than this .. so..we wouldn't recommend the food.

We came to celebrate the 65th birthday of our friend who used to run the pub many years ago. Can't fault the food, or service. Beautiful pub in a gorgeous setting. We'll definitely come again.

I met up with two friends to 'raise a glass' to a recently-departed canal boating colleague. The Admiral Nelson was extremely helpful in allowing us to arrive slightly spread out and run one tab for the day from coffee when we arrived, through a toast, then a meal. It was very flexible between an outside table, lunch indoors and then browsing through old photographs that we had brought on a settee. A very friendly day that really helped set a nice tone on a sad occasion.

My daughter and l had lunch on 16 June. Great setting, great food, great service, great value for money. In fact, Great!

Fabulous food, lovely setting -perfect!

My husband and I visited the admiral Nelson yesterday 15th June after it was recommended to us unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations we decided on the sharing platter which looked amazing on arrival the meat was excellent tasty and cooked to perfection but everything else on the platter was slightly warm to cold when asked if we were enjoying our meal we were everything was OK I expressed the meat was the only thing on the platter that was hot in fairness the head waitress was lovely and did ask if we would like some more cauliflower/ brocoli and yorkshire which we declined they kindly took our drinks off the bill half a lager and soda and lime which was nice of them as we did not ask for any reconpence I have put it down to eating at 4 45 and perhaps the veg,potatoes stuffing had been cooked earlier in the day would we return and give it another go I doubt it but if we did it would be alot earlier

Service was prompt and everyone really enjoyed their meals.

Had some good friends up for the weekend, so decided to bring them to the Nelson. As on previous visits, great food, great service, great atmosphere.

Great service. Food was excellent. Great atmosphere & decor. Ambient lighting. Order taken on time & waitress came quickly with more drinks & mayo requested. Value for money and did not feel hurried. Seriously cannot fault it! We’ve been many times & will return when visiting family in N’hants. Dog friendly too so pooch came with us!

Amazing food! Service brilliant

Our first visit, such a great setting & a perfect halfway rendezvous for meeting a friend. We were very impressed & most certainly hope to return. What a lovely surprise to be warmly greeted by the landlord who was once one of our pupils!! He has a wonderful pub in a lovely setting with excellent food!

While not the cheapest food, the quality and portion sizes make this great value. The service was not only friendly, but also very fast. Will definitely be back.

Yet another lovely visit to this pub. It’s my favourite place to eat around the Daventry area. The staff are superb, really friendly, attentive and super efficient. As always, the food was delicious, not the cheapest but definitely the best!! Highly recommended!!
