Excellent service and food

Popped into our local with some friends for lunch yesterday. The men had ham egg and chips and the ham portion was huge! They said it was excellent. I had a southern fried chicken wrap and that too was well filled and tasty. My friend had the fish finger sandwich which is her favourite and it didn’t disappoint. Service was excellent, value for money in a lovely environment. Shame about the rain ad we would have loved to have sat outside beside the canal. Maybe next time. So glad it’s our local - we are very lucky.

4 of us ate at Admiral Nelson last night & all agreed that food was fantastic. Service was prompt & friendly.

We sat at an outside table right by the lock gates… beautiful (and interesting setting), watching the narrow boats navigate the locks while we enjoyed a sumptuous burger lunch… idyllic.

Loverly historic venue for lunch with old friends. So nice that the interior has retained its original charm and the plentiful staff also deliver with smiles and charm. Great menu, we had steak, burgers and salads between the 4 of us and none disappointed. Deserts were even better, cheesecakes and sticky toffee puddings. We will be back again and again ! .

We were very happy with the food, but would like to say the toilets left alot to be desired !!! The toilets themselves very clean but area around the toilets awful and very very smelly that we had to hold our breath whilst in there !!!!

Lovely meal with grandma, aunt & hubby yesterday. Great food & fab service. Friendly bar & waiting staff. The best scampi, fish & chips, lamb kebab & ham & eggs. Would definitely recommend.

Visited on the 30th June for my mums birthday. We had an afternoon meal. We all ordered steaks 2 fillet and a rump all were absolutely delicious. All plates cleaned. The service was brilliant. Lovely venue. Will definitely be returning.

I’ve been here quite a few times over the years and I’ve never been disappointed. Always lovely food and drink followed up by the good service from the friendly staff who ensure that your time here is excellent. There has always been a nice and relaxed atmosphere here whether it’s lunch or dinner time. Background music volume is good to the level where you can appreciate it rather than not hear yourself think. There is a good selection of lager on draught and variety of options on main menu and burger menu at good prices. Top marks all round. One of the best canal side pubs in the country and the best in Braunston. A fine establishment that must be appreciated.

Great setting - food definitely has a home cooked feel - slight problem with a lasagna temperature but resolved quickly and professionally by attentive and friendly staff

Good food and very accommodating staff as there was no problem when we wanted to add an extra person to our booking at the last minute. Lovely setting right on the canal by a lock. Highly recommend.

We booked a meal for 4 adults yesterday ( Sunday) . It was a special occasion .we live an hour away +my brother lives 2 hours away. Unfortunately we were all disappointed by the roast dinner . No greens at all, one walnut sized stuffing ball, 3 roast potatoes not cooked well . We have had much better Sunday roasts than this .. so..we wouldn't recommend the food.

We came to celebrate the 65th birthday of our friend who used to run the pub many years ago. Can't fault the food, or service. Beautiful pub in a gorgeous setting. We'll definitely come again.

I met up with two friends to 'raise a glass' to a recently-departed canal boating colleague. The Admiral Nelson was extremely helpful in allowing us to arrive slightly spread out and run one tab for the day from coffee when we arrived, through a toast, then a meal. It was very flexible between an outside table, lunch indoors and then browsing through old photographs that we had brought on a settee. A very friendly day that really helped set a nice tone on a sad occasion.

My daughter and l had lunch on 16 June. Great setting, great food, great service, great value for money. In fact, Great!
