Booked a table for lunch at 1:45. The rooms and tables were full of irate customers. There was a long queue waiting to reach the counter. I understand customers arrived for a 12:00 booking and at 1:30 were still waiting. They had a tour of the house booked for 2pm. Our table wasn’t available. The café clearly had a problem. No one said what is was. Clearly the kitchen wasn’t functioning, the two waitresses were keeping their cool but as there was no explanation and the stress levels in the café were explosive, we left. Perhaps we should receive an apology??? Your questions - I’ve no idea about the quality of food although it’s a simple menu. I think the waitresses should have been treated with respect by the management team and not be left to face the music
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – Chesterfield6 of us came for Afternoon tea to celebrate a 40th wedding anniversary. I'd ordered 4 sweet and 2 savoury teas and a couple of extra scones and there was more than enough for everyone - in fact we brought some away. There was a very mixed selection of sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, pork pie, spring rolls, samosas and some unusual fig parcels. The cakes were equally varied, with fruit scones, red velvet cake, macron, mini cakes and brownies. I liked the variety and the slightly different. The table was beautifully decorated. The staff were very attentive, constantly checking if we were OK and topping up drinks. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. Excellent value for money. I will definitely be recommending to friends, and coming back again.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldTwo of us had a wonderful afternoon tea in the Rex Whistler room - it was superb! The table was decorated beautifully which set the tone for what was to come - the afternoon tea was served by very helpful efficient and friendly staff. The food was delicious and very fresh - a delightful way to spend a couple of hours. I must say, all staff we met throughout our visit were so friendly and helpful. Will definitely recommend.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldLike a pub should be...warm welcome, friendly and efficient service and top quality food. Can't recommend it highly enough.
The Plough Inn – AlfretonFood was lovely as always. We were seated in the bar area, the chairs are not comfortable for eating a meal
The Plough Inn – AlfretonFood excellent. However, waited 40 minutes for Father’s Day breakfast for 5 people (2 which were children). Two of the breakfasts came out wrong.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldOur afternoon tea was very enjoyable. A good selection of sandwiches and cakes. All very fresh. Staff very attentive
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldLovely food, I had chicken tray and my partner had belly pork, both were delicious. Never been disappointed on the food. The service was great too. Good value for money
The Plough Inn – AlfretonWhen we arrived the guy said they’d finished serving food 19 minutes earlier. No one had seen our booking so was very disappointing and a waisted journey which was sad as we’d been so many times before at that time. Did try calling but no answer
The Plough Inn – AlfretonExcellent food and excellent service
The Plough Inn – AlfretonWe celebrated a friend’s birthday here with Afternoon Tea. The Rex Whistler room was lovely and the table decorated beautifully with artificial flowers. The staff were welcoming friendly and attentive. The food was lovely too, it was a nice touch that the quiche was hot, it would have been nice if the sausage rolls were as well. The cakes were all nice with some novel sweets too, the macarons were superb. The scones were a little heavy and would have been better served warm in my opinion. We couldn’t eat it all despite being very hungry and takeaway boxes were kindly supplied. We had a wonderful time especially the birthday girl and would love to return soon.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldTwenty three Stumperlowe Probus members and guests were shown around the beautiful Renishaw grounds by David Kesteven, Head Gardener, The tour was bookended by refreshments and then lunch in the elegant and relaxed RexWhistler function room. The event was superbly managed by Carrie-Anne Burton and it all went without a hitch. The hot buffet was excellent and there was more than enough for everyone and there was a great variety of food, including specifically requested GF dishes. All the staff were delightful. The garden tour was tremendous. David was so informative, with exactly the right balance of humour, serious gardening advice and a host of other information about the specimen plants, trees and historical notes about the house and garden development since the 1600s Fabulous!
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldMy friend and I went to visit as we'd never been before despite living not far away. We couldn't fault the food and the service was outstanding. So friendly and helpful and even had a chat with the lovely elderly gentleman running the bookings for wine tours, garden entrance and wine sales who was very helpful and gave us loads of information. I also bought a bottle of their still white wine which is very nice. We also bought a few bits from the farm shop and once again the lovely young man was very helpful and friendly. We will definitely go back!
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldVery good food, Credit to the chef Ben
The Plough Inn – AlfretonWe had a lovely Afternoon Tea at Renishaw Hall . A wedding gift voucher was used and our table was set beautifully. Food , service , staff was amazing. This is the first time we have eaten there and would highly recommend it .
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldIt’s the first time we have had Sunday lunch here and we weren’t disappointed. The food is always great. It wasn’t very busy which was surprising being the bank holiday weekend. I think perhaps more advertising/social media would help as once inside the staff are lovely, the service is great and the food is amazing.
