Paid £20 deposit for a table for 2 for Valentines night. Hounded by several emails before we arrived reminding us of our booking and informing our table would only be held for 15 mins after our booking time. When sat at our table background music was far too loud and selection of music certainly didn't reflect the evening theme. Food was average and it looked like the only thing cooked fresh was the steak. However, my main complaint is around the bill. When our bill came the £20.00 deposit we had paid had not been deducted. Now I accept that mistakes happen but we sat and watched numerous people returning the bill because the deposit had not been deducted. I also suspect that many will have left without remembering about the deposit they had already paid. This really is unacceptable and I will really have to think hard about visiting this restaurant again. So disappointed :(

The most outstanding feature of our visit was the service. Very friendly and professional for all staff. they clearly have been very well trained and allowed to express their own positive personalities. Food was good too.

Really enjoyed our meals at Ember and Vine in St Annes. WE both had the American burger which was tasty and filling. The Rioja was a good accompaniment to the meal. Service was excellent by Natasha. Would return.

My second meal at the Birley Arms and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great to see some really interesting specials on the go in addition to the extensive main menu. I had the Lancashire Cheese Tartlet sat in a veloute and for main a trio of duck – mallard, teal and widgeon. And for just £15.95 that’s ridiculously good value. If you’ve not been here yet, it’s a must-try.

Went here for my Mum's birthday on Saturday - we enjoyed a sharing platter between 4 to start and I had the Red thai curry mains, was delicious although i couldn't eat it all due to being so full from my starter! Lovely gesture at the end bringing out a dessert for my mum and singing happy birthday to her. will definitely be going back.

Excellent meal at the Birley Arms on Friday night. Loved the haggis bon bon starter and my halibut on ravioli was spot on. My partner was also very satisfied too! Wine and Black Sheep beer good too. Will return and probably have fish again as its the chefs speciality.

It’s really nice. Great food, friendly staff, nice surroundings and some top music playing ( Stones, Kinks, Bowie ). Definitely recommend

Great value and tasty lunch with my family. Gorgeous soup and the cakes are amazing.. added bonus was that my boy could look at the fish and pets next door

Stopped by Fifty Four on the look out for a tasty bite to eat for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by this lovely little restaurant. Very smart inside and with a warm atmosphere thanks to the log fire. Food and service were excellent and will definitely stop by again to check out the evening menu and impressive wine cellar!
