Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereOur first visit to this bistro and we weren’t disappointed. Staff were really attentive and food was beautiful and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the slow cooked pork belly, it was delicious. I would definitely recommend Lewis’s Bistro.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereHad a couple of great nights at this restaurant when we visited the Lakes. Food was tasty and beautifully presented. Staff were friendly and attentive.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe dined here around 5 years ago whilst visiting the lakes from North Wales, this was our 2nd visit to the lakes and this lovely restaurant didn’t disappoint 2nd time around, great food and lovely staff - highly recommend
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereExcellent food served by really helpful friendly staff. We had a very enjoyable evening at the bistro and were pleasantly surprised by how many tables were filled on a Tuesday evening in February; nice atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereFood was fresh, well presented and most importantly, very tasty. Service was fab too, staff were friendly and approachable. Atmosphere was great and the decor was rustic yet charming. Would highly recommend, you won’t be disappointed!
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereThe restaurant had a buzz on a busy Sunday evening which created a good atmosphere. Staff and service were both excellent. Food was perfect - Monk Fish, Sea Bass and Chicken. Probably a little bit pricey but it’s a nice restaurant and we had a nice evening out.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWhen my wife and I turned up we were told our table was “over there by the radiator” as the lady behind the bar pointed at the the table and kept her feet firmly planted in position. As we sat ourselves down, nobody acknowledged we had arrived and after not being asked if we would like a drink or shown a menu I had to stop the nearest waitress and ask for one. In my opinion the surf and turf was overpriced, £10 extra for a couple of frozen scampi bites on top of the standard price for the steak. The steak was cooked to perfection and that justified the price of the 6oz steak. We left feeling disappointed that the service let the whole standard down and for us we wouldn’t be in a rush to return.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereHad a lovely meal on Thursday 29 February 2024 with my husband, Gary. This was the second time we have visited the restaurant on our stay at Grasmere. The food was excellent and good value for money. The staff were really helpful and friendly and we will visit again next time we are at Grasmere.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereGreat food, Great service.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereMelt in the mouth lamb shank and highly recommended cheeseboard and thunder and lightning dessert. Service friendly and helpful. Fab every time we come . Thank you
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe generally enjoyed our meal at Lewis' Bistro. The food was well cooked and very tasty. (The lamb, which my husband chose was 'fantastic' apparently!) In addition our waiter, a young girl, was absolutely delightful. Our only reservations were, first, the price - the food here is expensive, especially as portions are not over generous! ( My monkfish portion was quite small, even for me and I don't eat 'big' amounts) Our other reservation is that we were given a table right next to the door, which meant we were periodically cold, and far too close to another couple, so there was zero privacy. ( We eventually started just chatting to them. They were very nice but it wasn't what we'd planned!) I think we would have had a better overall experience if we'd sat elsewhere and tables had been less crammed together. However, we still judge it to be a 'good' restaurant .. and would go again!
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereExcellent meal with a really friendly atmosphere and an independent look
Goody Blake’s – GrasmereWe really enjoyed the evening here. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and it was just the right start to our time here in Grasmere. Whoever thought of putting Eccles cake with toffee sauce is a genius! Ridiculously good.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe had a lovely evening at Lewis’s Bistro. The staff and service was great. The food was delicious. The affogato dessert was a lovely idea (espresso coffee, ice cream and shot of your choice with amaretti biscuits) We love Grasmere and will definitely return to this restaurant
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereThe reviews on the website have the impression that good food would be served, how wrong we were. The prawn starter was not too bad, not good , just ok, but the scallops were soaked in grease and had n seasoning. However the main of monkfish was the worst example of fish cookery we have ever experienced. The lump of overcooked fish was congealed so much the fish could barely be separated from the main lump. I have never seen food so compacted due to overcooking, so dried it had shrunk . The pawn sauce that covered it contained frozen diced vegetables, the lumps of dried up baby carrots that had sliced across the middle added nothing due to their dried brown appearance. The piles of new potatoes would have added to the meal had they been clean and not covered in soil in their crevices. To charge £107 was the biggest insult, until the waitress informed us, after she asked for feedback, the food is better on a busy night. Pity we had chided to eat on a night there were only another 3 tables in. This was a birthday treat. To think you charge the same prices as placed such as Kysty in Ambleside is a joke. Maybe spend some time and the money you charge to training staff in cooking.
