Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereMelt in the mouth lamb shank and highly recommended cheeseboard and thunder and lightning dessert. Service friendly and helpful. Fab every time we come . Thank you
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe generally enjoyed our meal at Lewis' Bistro. The food was well cooked and very tasty. (The lamb, which my husband chose was 'fantastic' apparently!) In addition our waiter, a young girl, was absolutely delightful. Our only reservations were, first, the price - the food here is expensive, especially as portions are not over generous! ( My monkfish portion was quite small, even for me and I don't eat 'big' amounts) Our other reservation is that we were given a table right next to the door, which meant we were periodically cold, and far too close to another couple, so there was zero privacy. ( We eventually started just chatting to them. They were very nice but it wasn't what we'd planned!) I think we would have had a better overall experience if we'd sat elsewhere and tables had been less crammed together. However, we still judge it to be a 'good' restaurant .. and would go again!
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereExcellent meal with a really friendly atmosphere and an independent look
Goody Blake’s – GrasmereWe really enjoyed the evening here. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and it was just the right start to our time here in Grasmere. Whoever thought of putting Eccles cake with toffee sauce is a genius! Ridiculously good.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe had a lovely evening at Lewis’s Bistro. The staff and service was great. The food was delicious. The affogato dessert was a lovely idea (espresso coffee, ice cream and shot of your choice with amaretti biscuits) We love Grasmere and will definitely return to this restaurant
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereThe reviews on the website have the impression that good food would be served, how wrong we were. The prawn starter was not too bad, not good , just ok, but the scallops were soaked in grease and had n seasoning. However the main of monkfish was the worst example of fish cookery we have ever experienced. The lump of overcooked fish was congealed so much the fish could barely be separated from the main lump. I have never seen food so compacted due to overcooking, so dried it had shrunk . The pawn sauce that covered it contained frozen diced vegetables, the lumps of dried up baby carrots that had sliced across the middle added nothing due to their dried brown appearance. The piles of new potatoes would have added to the meal had they been clean and not covered in soil in their crevices. To charge £107 was the biggest insult, until the waitress informed us, after she asked for feedback, the food is better on a busy night. Pity we had chided to eat on a night there were only another 3 tables in. This was a birthday treat. To think you charge the same prices as placed such as Kysty in Ambleside is a joke. Maybe spend some time and the money you charge to training staff in cooking.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereLovely people, exceptional food.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereOur 1st time there and it won’t be our last, the service was great and the food was great , hopefully back in August and this will be the 1st place we book.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe have eaten at Lewis's a number of times when we've stayed in beautiful Grasmere. Every time the food is exceptional and this most recent time (Feb24) was no exception. The food was perfectly cooked, piping hot and delicious. We will definitely be back again.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereOur first visit to this restaurant. We were the first to arrive for dinner but gradually other diners arrived and the atmosphere was very good. A warm welcome and we were well looked after. Our meal and wine order was taken and we did not have to wait long for our starters. Unfortunately my wife found the French Onion soup did not taste right and we raised the issue with the staff. They checked with the kitchen and were very apologetic when they agreed there was an issue and it was removed from the menu. An unfortunate ting to happen but was dealt with efficiently. The rest of our meal was excellent and overall we enjoyed our evening.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereI had high hopes for Lewis’s Bistro but was unfortunately let down particularly by the service I received. Upon arriving everything seemed fine I was shown to my table. My starter and main course came out right but once I had finished my main course they took ages to clear it away! when they eventually did I asked for a dessert menu. Got given my dessert menu and they left me to decide. Once I had decided I was left sat there waiting for ages again with the menu in front of me waiting for them to take my order! While other diners were being served efficiently. In the end I went up to the counter to order my dessert only to be told this wasn’t possible because they needed my table for another booking. So I was forced to pay there and then! Very disappointing. I understand you might want to put time restrictions on tables during busy times but it’s then down to you to make sure your customers get served quickly during that time and that they can enjoy 3 courses if they want too. I suppose in the end I got a smaller bill by not having a dessert and you guys missed out on more money! So guess who got the last laugh! I sure won’t be returning anyway x
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereAmazing food and service- couldn’t fault either.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereLovely food, very lovely staff, can't wait to go back.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereThis man's currys are spot on, I've had a few currys in my time and this was definitely up there, service from the lady was spot on too, lovely little hidden gem in the lakes, will definitely be back and would highly recommend. Very good value for money too, portion sizes are spot on.
Goody Blake’s – GrasmereWonderful attentive polite and knowledgeable staff. There's aren't many places these days that take all the ladies orders first and pour for the ladies first. Lovely food and not that much more expensive than the rest of the restaurants in Grasmere. Ribeye, venison, salmon and pork steak all perfectly cooked. Crisp, white tablecloths. Interesting service charge (£7.50 or 10% whichever is least) would have been happy to round up further. Well worth consideration... We're even going to see if there are any deals to stay later in the year
Rothay Garden Hotel – GrasmereWe had a lovely afternoon tea at Rothay Garden on Saturday 16th December 2023. The hotel were able to deal with Gluten Free requirements and the dog was made most welcome! Highly recommended.
Rothay Garden Hotel – GrasmereGreat comfort food. All a bit surreal, but certainly very friendly, good portions, extensive menu. I'd definitely recommend it.
