Our party of six enjoyed a lunch. Personally I found my main of Panaklety very tasty as did others choice of mince and dumplings and steak and ale pie. However the two party members who ordered fish and chips were left disappointed by their meal. Although it looked appetising the batter underneath was very undercooked and soggy. Staff were very accommodating and pleasant and the two party members chose not to relay their experience.

Starters my wife had tempura prawns in lime and chilli sauce and I had the belly pork ( the best belly pork I have had) Mains my wife had lamb shank and I had beef slices triple cooked chips on a flat bread, Onion rings with peppercorn sauce. Cooked to perfection and so tasty, lamb fell off the bone. We couldn’t manage desert just a coffe to finish a perfect meal. Definitely will be going back. We

The Copt Hill Inn – Houghton-le-SpringWe’ve been 4 times in 5 or 6 weeks. Atmosphere is pretty good, Sunday lunch was very good. The main menu lacks variety. There are some quite ‘out there’ options. I think I had pie once and scampi twice. That’s me done for choice. We’ll leave it a while and hope the menu changes.

The Beehive – Houghton-le-SpringAbsolutely amazing food, we usually come for the Sunday dinner and often get the sharing platter and it usually feeds the 3 of us, two adults and a 6 year old and they often give us extra turkey for our little one. Yesterday my husband and I had an impromptu date and went for dinner we did book and lucky we did as it became busy while we were there. I got the lobster ravioli absolutely unreal and my husband ordered the spicy chicken flat bread and he said it was unreal I don’t do well with spice so couldn’t try it but it smelt amazing. Amanda was out server and was lovely and really helpful with choices.

Considering how busy it was though we couldn’t complain. The food arrived fairly quickly and everything was lovely! Cooked really well too. 6 drinks, 3 mains and 3 desserts came to around £70 which I don’t think is too bad for what you get. Lush atmosphere, had a buzz about the place but still quiet enough to chat.

We didn't wait long for food and it certainly lived up to our expectations. Will definitely be back again to try more!

We had the pork bites starter which was absolutely divine then my hubby had the brunch and I had the mince and dumpling absolutely beautiful so much so we will be calling more often
The Copt Hill Inn – Houghton-le-SpringOur latest visit was as always great We did make a comment that possibly different chef sat night as we all commentated that food looked a little dif, smaller portion tasted a bit different, seabass didnt have much sauce and was watered down by veg water on plate but good all the same Only niggle was after meal asked for desserts to be told you gotta be quick as kitchen closing, took our order and it finally arrived 20 mins later with wrong order staff made aware but told us kitchen ckosed, so end if meal a dissapointment with being huried to eat. Ive never been served cold custard with sticky toffee but thats what we got, did ask for ice cream as cant stand custard We will always return as its our fav place but just few niggles that needed addressing
