Borrowdale Gates Hotel – KeswickMy wife and I with a famliy friend visited Keswick for a couple of days and were initially guided to Luca's by our holiday site. The first visit was really so excellent with friendly staff and delightful food that we returned the follwing night for a repeat experience, Both were oustanding in the quality of food and service - however more than twice a week would not do my waistline any favours. We look forward to a return next year
Luca’s Ristorante – KeswickBrought my parents here, who were visiting from Canada and we all had a wonderful evening. A delicious meal, well presented with a wonderful combination of flavours and excellent service. Thank you all.
Cottage in the Wood – KeswickWell it was 3rd time lucky having tried to book twice before while in on visits to Keswick........and now I know why. The food was outstanding...locally sourced, fresh and beautifully presented with great attention to detail. All this is underpinned by the attentive and friendly service provided by staff from the moment you enquire about a booking until you reluctantly leave this hidden gem.
Cottage in the Wood – KeswickStayed two nights at the hotel and dined in the restaurant on both nights, the food was outstanding, the staff were excellent made us comfortable and relaxed we will return..
Cottage in the Wood – KeswickVery busy and rightly so. The food is very good. I was recommended to go by a solicitor friend who recommended the steaks. I ordered a fillet steak medium rare, my mother a Fillet steak rare. Both were cooked to perfection. The Shiraz I ordered was served at a perfect temperature. Despite it being packed there wasn't an unusually long wait for the food. The waitress took our order then read it back to us to ensure no mistakes. I will go regularly from now on, just for the fillet steak!
Woodstone Pizza & Flame Grill – KeswickWe called in to book a table for the early evening of Friday last week. We had to be fitted in, so we thought it would be busy. We arrived on time, had to spell my surname to the waitress who took my reservation only an hour or so earlier. Shown to table under air con unit and left. After well over half a hour we were asked if we wanted to order any drinks. These took an age to be delivered, then we ordered our meal. Much later the main course pizzas were delivered before the starter we ordered. We said we wanted the meal in the order we requested it so our pizzas were put on top of the oven. They then started to cook our starter. Much later it came. Hot and tasty. Our mains still on the oven. When we finished our starter our kept warm pizzas were served. Terrible service and no apology. Take away business seems to take priority. How do places that treat you like this stay in business? The food was tasty. The service was nasty. Never again! We went to Open All Hours for our dessert.
Woodstone Pizza & Flame Grill – KeswickThis beautiful gem, WOW!!! The food is exceptional and presented beautifully. The Chef's passion is obvious in the menu which has something for everyone!! They serve locally sourced produce cooked to perfection. As we arrived the welcome we received was so warm and genuine. At the time of our visit the Chef has'nt got a Michelin rating but I have no doubt he will in time be recognised for his love and passion for good quality food cooked to perfection and presented beautifully!!
Cottage in the Wood – KeswickAwful! Greasy starters, stodgy rice, sloppy noodles, frozen veg! Avoid at all cost. Never had such an awful thai meal! Staff were lovely though.
Star Of Siam – KeswickWe stayed at the Scafell hotel for the third time last weekend as it is just amazing. apart from the stunning surroundings and area (which speaks for itself), the hotel is lovely and the rooms are beautifully decorated to a very high standard. The staff were so welcoming and couldn't do enough to please us. They went above and beyond with their hospitality. The restaurant was very inviting and decorated very well, but the food?? It was to die for!! We have eaten at Michelin star restaurants and the food here was on par if not better than those..just divine! Their breakfasts have received awards and I understand why. A really good selection, served extremely well using the best quality products...the bacon is just delicious. We also had lunch in the riverside bar (a little more informal)...again the food was lovely, and the chicken in a basket was the best I've ever had (and went down with the kids). Overall you can not go wrong at this hotel...dont take my word for it...go yourself, and i bet you will be posting a glowing review too.
Scafell Hotel – KeswickMy boyfriend and I had the pleasure of a short stay at the Scafell Hotel over Valentines and had a fabulous time. The hotel was quaint with a modern twist and the staff were very friendly. In the evening, after a romantic stroll along the river derwent, we ate in the restaurant. The staff showed us to a table in the cocktail bar, by the open log fire where we had a small tipple and some canapes whilst we perused the uncomplicated menu. We were then shown to our table in the restaurant. I opted for a goats cheese starter whilst my boyfriend chose a seasonal soup, both were absolutely delicious. We both selected the lamb shoulder with all the trimmings for our main, which was cooked to perfection. Whilst I declined a dessert my boyfriend couldn't resist - obviously I helped out! It would be hard to find fault with the Scafell Hotel, we thoroughly enjoyed it and are looking forward to a 2nd visit, a perfect slice of the Lakes!

Swinside Lodge Hotel – KeswickWe were really happy with Woodstone pizza & Flame grill. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. We took our three year old son and staff were wonderful with him. It is definitely a place you can go with the family. The food took a little bit of time getting to us but we could see it cooking and see the staff were all busy. I will most definitely be going back with my family. I believe this is just a new restaurant in keswick . Well it may be new but its the best I've been to. Many thanks to all the staff
Woodstone Pizza & Flame Grill – KeswickIf you want a tasty topping on what appears to be a base cut out of 1/4in plywood then this is the place for you. One of the worst pizzas I've ever had. Other diners seemed to be having trouble cutting bite sized pieces off theirs. You should be able to take a sector, fold it and eat it without cutlery (as in Italy).
Woodstone Pizza & Flame Grill – KeswickWe have just stayed for 3 nights and could not praise the food more highly. Fantastic menu , really wonderful choices and all very interesting. A superb restaurant and a great place to stay. V good service etc FANTASTIC
