We went for a pre-theatre meal here, and got a table for 5.30, with a promise we'd be done in time for the 7.30 show at the next-door WYPlayhouse. I was hugely impressed by everything about this restaurant. There was a small crowd waiting for the doors to open, and everyone had pre-booked (which I would recommend as it certainly seems popular). The friendly and efficient staff checked every party off the booking list and got them seated, given drinks and so on very quickly without ever giving an impression of hurrying anyone. Although almost every table was full, the well organised staff kept everything ticking along unobtrusively and the whole place had a nice, friendly, buzzy atmosphere. The fixed price menu was good value, though after our meal we decided that for the quality and the quantity the full main menu is not overpriced at all. The food is some of the best we have eaten in the UK, not fussy and over presented, but good honest rustic French cuisine with generous portions and tastes out of this world. Another nice touch was the fresh french bread - when we had eaten all our first basket we were given another at no additional cost, as with the carafe of iced water. This is a 10 out of 10 restaurant on every count, we will definitely be going again!

A fairly relaxed atmosphere, an unashamedly meaty menu and decent steaks. Does what it says on the tin.

Fish and Chips have always been the best in town. Each time I visit Leeds I stop at Nash's. For my mother's birthday, quick lunch, or just to relax and have a good meal. I know it was closed for a while and was so glad to find it open when I was in Leeds 2010. Always a good atmosphere

Has to be one of the very best places to eat in Leeds. Whilst low key it has a great reputation around the business quarter of Leeds. The food produced by the french chef is fantastic and changes daily, the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed and I can honestly not think of a bar in Leeds that can match the offering of The Old Steps.

I just had my food delivered literally 20 mins ago, I enjoyed the meal, and they sent mrs and the mrs free desserts, they were amazing.I i have got to be honest, I was speaking to the owner Sid, I respect him for his approach to his business and his customers. He makes sure his staff make the food the way we want it. Really good food, really good guys.

My wife and I just enjoyed an excellent lunch at Leeds Brasserie Blanc and I am happy to be able to tell you that. The riverside setting is very pleasant being far enough off the beaten track to provide, with the help of the attractive dining room, a sense of intimacy and not too far to make it feel like a safari. We were greeted and served throughout with efficiency and friendly courtesy which never became obtrusive; A perfect blend. The food was excellent in presentation, taste and in well judged quantity which, like the service, was sufficient without being overbearing. Leeds Brasserie Blanc will definitely be on our favourites list from now on

We are not vegetarians but his is one of our favourite restaurants, so much so that we think nothing of catching a train (or bus) from Harrogate to eat here. The service is great, the food excellent and the owners are really nice. Only regret is we did not discover Hansas years ago!

My friend and I went to Hansas at the weekend for what we were expecting to experience some new flavours. We are not vegetarian but wanted to try it as it had been getting very good reviews. We were not disappointed, the ingredients were very fresh, the flavours were sensational, I have travelled around the world but can honestly say I have not experienced flavours like this before. The knowledge of the food by the waiting staff very good, Hansa served us at our table and was very accommodating help us understand what we were ordering. I live 120 miles away, it is definitely work a return visit and would recommend everyone to try it.

Lovely welcoming place & atmosphere with friendly staff. Food not brilliant - and when Complained, the friendliness stopped! £18 for steak pie is expensive, if good then I wouldn't mind - it was poor. Didn't remove from the bill, when requested, it was removed and bill slammed back on desk without eye contact. Will not return

The New Ellington restaurant is attached to a small hotel on a quiet street in Leeds. When you enter, there is a lovely airy atrium bar, claiming to sell the widest variety of gins on offer. The cocktail menu is also pretty extensive. All the ones I have tried have been great. Try them before dinner, or even if you’re just passing by – the house specials are especially good. The décor is very 1920’s glamour – very jazzy and feels very elegant and classy, with black and white photos in the bar and stylised pictures downstairs in the restaurant. In the restaurant, the atmosphere is good with staff on hand but not intrusive. The menu is fairly extensive, with about 10 starters and mains each. The starters are around about £5-6 and the mains from £12-16, which is fantastic value for the quality of the meal. There is also a changing “Taste of Yorkshire” Menu with 3 options for each course. This is really good at £15.95 for 2 courses or £18.95 for 3. The portions on the menu are exactly the same size and quality as those on the a la carte, which is very refreshing. Dishes are beautifully presented with really interesting combinations of flavours and very filling. My particular favourite is the suckling pig done 3 ways with “apple textures” and the chocolate fondant with pistachio ice cream and pistachio brittle is a knock out. I’d definitely recommend this for a relaxed evening out.

Went for birthday a few weeks ago and couldn't recommend it more. Fantastic food, great atmosphere and equally pleasant staff. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

Bought this deal from Groupon and had not had any previous bad experience, but beware this was a con. Firtley nice outside but inside rather like a where you go when drunk at 2am set up. Bad customer service, telling us he hates Groupon vouchers, he makes no money form them, making us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Then went on to do it to the next table maybe to push drink sales?. Service was very self obsessed saying his food the best curry anywhere, so great expectations for the food. To recieve warm table water, tough chewy lamb, chicken was bits ie not breast), the rice was dried out and the curry taste itself salty. Then on paying the voucher was a £25 food voucher, we had service charge, popadoms and pickles were charged to us they stated this is not food when asked and they did to the other groupon voucher holder.

My work colleagues and I often have national Telecom company meetings in Leeds and we always go to Viva restaurant as the welcome, the food and the service is excellent and after more than 7 visits in past 2 years we have never had any complaints. Great family restaurant and fantastic food and ambiance.

I have visited Little Tokyo so many times I lost count. The first time I randomly called in whilst stressing about exams and even had a book out whilst waiting for the food. I wanted to try the jellyfish but didn't want to order a full sushi meal so they were good enough to add it to the sushi starter (the raw duo), which was good of them. The Bento Boxes are great value, and surprisingly filling, they are also ideal for the folks not willing to give the fish a try. This restaurant also introduced me to a great little drinking game involving lager, chop sticks and saki, I'll leave it to you to figure that out :). Anyway I love it, everyone I've taken loves it and I'll be there again this week. Just two negatives - I now have a young daughter and they always seem to stick us in the waiting area to eat - it may be just bad luck but I suspect they don't wish to ruin the ambience for the other diners with kids around. The other negative - my wife said the other day that she thinks it isn't as great as it used to be - I hope this isn't the case. And finally - There used to be a little meditation/Zen room at the back, I never used it but a nice touch anyway.

Came here to try out the new spring menu and was very impressed. Service was fast and attentive; the mushroom ceviche and Churrasco Fiasco with rump steak were delicious, as was the dessert. Always a pleasure.
