The Aegean Taverna – HullHad booked so straight in. Had giant scallops then whole grilled Dover sole perfectly cooked with garlic butter and my sister had poached lemon sole with lemon and herb butter. Also perfectly cooked. Another wonderful wonderful meal at the Magpie with wonderful staff, accomodating and friendly as always.

The food was delivered at an acceptable time after ordering & all the food was very hot & attractively presented. My vegetarian curry was very good with lots of variety of vegetables. My favourite sweet at this restaurant is toffee banana & tonight it did not dissapoint absolutely delicious . My husband & daughter had sizzling dishes, oysters & prawns. Both looked delicious & the portion sizes were very good hence no sweets could be managed by them. A very enjoyable meal & very polite & efficient service. Prices reasonable.
Maxis – YorkWhen travelling north we always make a detour so that we can visit theMagpie Restaurant. We really enjoyed our meal,as always. Thank you for making crab parcel for starters . Scallops & Halibut for mains were delicious. Service was excellent and we were comfortably spaced. Thank you to everyone concerned.
Magpie Cafe – WhitbySteep steps from the street make it challenging for those with walking difficulties. The four of us were met by friendly staff but it did feel like a production line which I am sure is owing to their popularity and demand for tables. Inside we found the decor and furnishings basic with transparent ‘banner’ screens cluttering the space (COVID compliance). The waiting staff were purposeful and busy so communication was very limited. 4 x Cutlery and sauces were simply dropped on the table in one spot with no discussion so we had to set our own places. We ordered our food and had to wait 30 minutes for it but were content if it was being cooked fresh! The food arrived hot and the taste was excellent. Fish pie contained large lumps of fish. A small 6oz fish and chips was perfect for me having a smaller appetite. Overall it was good but not excellent. Go there is you want Fish and Chips but not for a special occasion. Whole experience took about 90 minutes and although we were there past closing time they did not kick us (or others) out!

Magpie Cafe – WhitbyI am unable to write a review about food atmosphere service or value for money as we could not eat at Magpie on the day of our booking as I have mobility difficulties and could not manage the steps at the entrance to the restaurant and if I could have there was no space to park my mobility scooter I did call the restaurant to cancel our booking and the person I spoke to said she would cancel our booking however on the day of our booking I was emailed to remind me of booking which I had cancelled 2 days before and now I have been sent this request to comment on our experience. Also when I did telephone to cancel our booking and said why we were not attending I did not receive any acknowledgement or apology as to the facilities not being suitable for people with mobility issues and there was no mention of this on the web site if there had been I would have known not to make a booking
