Our second visit to the aegean in hull the first time was at their previous location where we had an excellent experience and a great meal . We are not from Hull but visiting for a couple of nights and sought out the aegean again at their new location booked in for 7.30 on sat 5th june We arrived at 7.25 5 min early to be told there where no tables available and we would have to wait at the bar which we accepted and ordered a drink we were shortly joined by other couples who also had to wait for a table . Shortly after 8 pm we were seated and i thought things were looking up,however it took another half hour for our order to be taken and told we would have to order our drinks from another waiter this took a further 20 min Now we come to what annoyed us most a group of 4 younger people were waiting at the bar for their table at this time another party arrived and started creating a fuss at the door as like everyone else no table was available they were taken straight to a table with the youngsters left at the bar to me they were taken advantage of because of there age , why should those who shout loudest get their own way. Throughout the evening all the staff were extremely polite and obviously working under great pressure they had been seriously overbooked a couple of explanation were given but it was still very frustrating Once again the food was excellent and we would visit again we eventually left at 10.30 over 2 hours after we arrived please sort your booking procedures out everything else was great

We arrived early for a pre-booked table and we’re taken straight in to sit down. Food and service excellent. Very much enjoyed the experience.

Great food and a lovely selection. We had woof ( Huss) and Haddock great flavour and very fresh. Service was very good and staff friendly. Will be back!!

We booked The Magpie in Whitby for a late lunch as we have been there before. Oh my goodness this place just gets better. The food is lovely and always served freshly cooked and very hot. The service is wonderful too. This restaurant has lived upto its very high standard yet again.

We had booked this cafe on a recommendation from a friend and weren’t disappointed, the food was lovely and fresh and the service was great even with it being extremely busy. I do recommend booking as there was a lot of disappointed people waiting outside.

Great to be back at the Aegean the food was great and the service good we loved the new surroundings too can’t wait to return

Had booked so straight in. Had giant scallops then whole grilled Dover sole perfectly cooked with garlic butter and my sister had poached lemon sole with lemon and herb butter. Also perfectly cooked. Another wonderful wonderful meal at the Magpie with wonderful staff, accomodating and friendly as always.

A lovely, friendly atmosphere in the restaurant and the waitresses were as fabulous as the food - no complaints whatsoever.

The Covid rules were being adhered to which was very good to see. All employees were wearing masks & the tables were an acceptable distance apart. The food was delivered at an acceptable time after ordering & all the food was very hot & attractively presented. My vegetarian curry was very good with lots of variety of vegetables. My favourite sweet at this restaurant is toffee banana & tonight it did not dissapoint absolutely delicious . My husband & daughter had sizzling dishes, oysters & prawns. Both looked delicious & the portion sizes were very good hence no sweets could be managed by them. A very enjoyable meal & very polite & efficient service. Prices reasonable.

When travelling north we always make a detour so that we can visit theMagpie Restaurant. We really enjoyed our meal,as always. Thank you for making crab parcel for starters . Scallops & Halibut for mains were delicious. Service was excellent and we were comfortably spaced. Thank you to everyone concerned.

Steep steps from the street make it challenging for those with walking difficulties. The four of us were met by friendly staff but it did feel like a production line which I am sure is owing to their popularity and demand for tables. Inside we found the decor and furnishings basic with transparent ‘banner’ screens cluttering the space (COVID compliance). The waiting staff were purposeful and busy so communication was very limited. 4 x Cutlery and sauces were simply dropped on the table in one spot with no discussion so we had to set our own places. We ordered our food and had to wait 30 minutes for it but were content if it was being cooked fresh! The food arrived hot and the taste was excellent. Fish pie contained large lumps of fish. A small 6oz fish and chips was perfect for me having a smaller appetite. Overall it was good but not excellent. Go there is you want Fish and Chips but not for a special occasion. Whole experience took about 90 minutes and although we were there past closing time they did not kick us (or others) out!

Fantastic family meal yesterday. Great starters, excellent mains (fish, vegetarian & meat) & mouthwatering desserts! We will be back!

Great value for money. Fish tasted really fresh. Service was outstanding! Very child friendly.

A great experience at GLC yesterday with my workmates. The food was delicious, served quickly in a really lovely environment. The portions were great value for money as well! Alongside this they have a lovely drinks menu with loads of choice for lager/ spirits and non alcoholic drinks

I am unable to write a review about food atmosphere service or value for money as we could not eat at Magpie on the day of our booking as I have mobility difficulties and could not manage the steps at the entrance to the restaurant and if I could have there was no space to park my mobility scooter I did call the restaurant to cancel our booking and the person I spoke to said she would cancel our booking however on the day of our booking I was emailed to remind me of booking which I had cancelled 2 days before and now I have been sent this request to comment on our experience. Also when I did telephone to cancel our booking and said why we were not attending I did not receive any acknowledgement or apology as to the facilities not being suitable for people with mobility issues and there was no mention of this on the web site if there had been I would have known not to make a booking

Good atmosphere,excellent food and friendly staff first time here but will come again
