the crooked billet is a very well known pub and tightens up with the battle of towton and has a archery club where people can come and do archery for a while on a Sunday, then they can have THE BEST MEAL OF THEIR LIVES ! They do venison duck belly pork water buffalo . Amazing If your reading this don't just feel your taste buds are TINKLING go and try it for your self . Good look Billet

Dear Suedehead, just to let you know that we have reviewed our policy on family dining since your visit, and we are happy to let you know that children are now allowed to eat anywhere in Sandbar, and we can prepare most dishes on the menu in child sized portions! Food is served till 3 pm Mon - Fri, and till 4 pm on Saturdays, but we allow accompanied children in the bar till 6 pm.

Great value food and accommodation. Dart board, singers, karaoke, quiz night and if you catch it on the right day Saltaire Blonde ale.

Highly recommended. All the food is home made on the premises and the steak and ale pie home made chips ( not frozen ) are to die for and only £6.50. Recently under new management and refurbished, south facing garden and play area. I have been 4 times now and the food is still perfect

I visit Lockwoods regularly - truly the best restaurant in town - and I have tried them all including the two new ones! My favourite summer meal recently has to be the garden pea risotto with feta. A really scrumptious summer meal. Also loving the fact that they now buy their vegetables from across the road at a heritage garden! Couldn't get fresher!!!

I would recommend TIPSY to anyone, its a must. Food is fab,tried most things on menu...and service is excellent.

This restaurant is phenomenal. Whether you are looking for the simple but best ever cod and chips or wishing to slip into something more adventurous such as the most perfect John Dory, then this is the place for you. Yes you may have to queue, yes it can be a little cramped, yes the decor may be a little basic but the food is oh so worth it. You will not be disappointed and I guarantee that you will desperately be re-working the diary to plan in the next visit, there is that much choice. And to cap it all, the staff are an absolute delight. We do not eat anywhere else when we are in Whitby and would never even contemplate doing so.

The worst restaurant I have ever come across in my life. We was a family of 4 we ordered a paella to share for 2 person along side 6 tapas we had to wait 45 mins for the food. When we received our food the paella was hot as in very spicy and tasted bad. I'm Spanish and know exactly how paellas are meant to taste and this was far from nice (terrible) some tapas were OK again nothing special. They also gave me another paella but this time as tapas one but exactly the same paella hot spicy which tasted rubbish. Spanish omelette had no taste what so ever not to mention a fish dish wasn't even cooked the fish was raw. When it came to paying the bill I could believe the bill it came to £40 we didn't eat anything apart from 4 tapas and we had to pay this amount I couldn't believe my eyes. We then went back to complain as we had been ripped off there's no way we should be paying that much when we havent eaten hardly anything. Neway to cut the long story short we spoke to the chef and he got extremely angry and aggressive with us I could believe this man we said to him that paella too hot/spicy he turned around to say it isn't he put his hand inside the paella picked it with his fingers saying it wasn't hot in front of our faces at the bar not to mention where the customers were all eating. He was extremely bad mannered he didn't listen to us he spoke very rudely and aggressive. I also told him about the raw fish he says its meant to have that texture that's utter rubbish he didn't have the time and probably did it on purpose to annoy us more so, as we complained. I feel this restuarant is a complete joke theres hardly any staff, one waitress one chef and one extra staff running that buisness the chefs italian who clearly doesnt know how to cook its a real disgrace I want to warn anyone who thinks about going to think twice, the foods dreadful service is appauling. I love la tasca that place walks the floor with los amigos and its even less money that place is value for money and customer service is excellent.

We had previously visited this pub using our Hi Life card and not been given the warmest of welcomes - although the food itself had been good. However this time ( Sun 24th July'11) what a difference ! I don't know if there's new management in place but we had the warmest of welcome, a full description of what we could use the hi Life card for, including the Lobster Menue deal that was a summer special. The food was absolutely devine....lots of imagination, flavour and using the finest of locally sourced ingredients. It was pretty quite when we arrived but we felt that was because of the time (6.30pm) and that it was a beautiful summer's evening and the smell of BBQ permeated the area. We had a wonderful time and will certainly be going back again very soon - this time with our friends.

Although we have done a lot of drinking and lunches at Cucina it was only in recent weeks that we went for an evening meal. All I can say is that we have wasted a lot of years. The food was brilliant. My partner is very fusy and even he raved about it. The staff were pleasant & helpful - they even produced a pair of glasses when we said we had left ours at home and could not read the menu. Its sometimes the little things that can make an evening go well. The atmosphere is always good because people are enjoying themselves.

If your driving, walking or canal boating through East Marton you must make some time for a meal and a pint at The Cross Keys pub. A very warm welcome will greet you from the Landlord his staff team and the locals too. We have just had a couple of weeks on a canal boat and discovered the Cross keys and had a fantastic time. The menu is brilliant, we went in for Sunday lunch and i would fully recommend the Lamb followed by the home made rice pudding with rhubarb compote. The belly of pork is outstanding along with the sticky toffee pudding, great service and fairly priced. All the food is resourced locally and all the puddings are homemade the best pub grub i think i have ever had. Quiz night on a Monday night is good fun too only a pound per person with a light supper thrown in great value for an entertaining night. WE would recommend the Cross Keys without a doubt and will be returning on our next holiday.

I went to the Punjab on Thursday 28th July after a night out with a friend. The Massala fish starter was sensational both in terms of quality and the size of the portion, I also had the fish curry as a main with Pilau peas rice, both of which were also excellent. My companion was a vegetarian and I have to be honest, I don't know what he ordered; I do know that he raved about it afterwards. The Punjab looks like an upmarket 'formica' curry house but the quality of food is way beyond that. My favourite Asian restaurants include the Aagrah chain, Akhbars and Mumtaz and I can tell you that the Punjab can hold its own with any of these. The menu may not be as extensive and the decor (while not scruffy) may not be impressive but the food is first class. As a 'sweetener' the famous 'Fighting Cock' real ale pub is a short walk away Why not round off a night of excellent real ale with an excellent curry?
