Vivo Italian – DoncasterI have been going to this place for the few times now. I am very pleased with it. The food here is great and cheap. The waiter service is great. I love visiting the Bengal and to have a laugh with the boys. They are just great guys. The best of the food are the Onion Bhajis and Mughal E Azam.
Bengal Brasserie – BrighouseBeen four times to Wheatsheaf, every time in a big party and have to say that the food is fantastic and the service matches it. Really good atmosphere, friendly. We asked to speak to the Chef Adam, and he came out and we congratulated him. He was very gracious in his thanks. Well Done All The Team, and it must be a Team, to provide such excellent food and service
Wheatsheaf Inn – Cleckheatonbeen coming here 23 years and can see how its slowly going down the food was nice but not enough on plate i paid 34 quid for 2 meals and was not happy 18 months ago you could pick owt and pay no more than 12 quid all you see now is customers having carverys and the pub is nowhere as full as it used to be the owners are trying to change too much even the staff say its very quiet so a word of advice lower your prices and higher the portions
Foxhouse Inn – HolmfirthI've just enjoyed a two night family break in Scarborough and took the opportunity to sample ASK as they have no locations close to where we live. The decision to dine there was incentivised by the offer of a second main course for £1 which resulted in a total bill of just over £33 for two of us sharing a garlic bread and a bottle of Chianti with pasta dishes for our main course. This represents excellent value especially due to the location and the quality of both the food & the service. Our children (10 & 3) did not eat but were kept quite content by the brilliant Stabilo crayons provided for them. All in all a first class experience despite a bad start caused by a young child screaming his head off at a nearby table. We dined early along with several other families and I suppose that this type of scene is only to be expected in a holiday resort which is deprived of the usual selection of national eateries.
ASK – ScarboroughWe wished we lived in Scarborough!! We love Italian restaurants and shortly after booking our two night family break in the resort we researched online where we could dine and narrowed our choice down to just three that had received above average reviews. So on our second night we had a dilemna for having visited our two remaining options we were slightly discouraged by the prospect of a 45 minute wait for a table with two young kids. Our alternative choice did not have this problem but was a fair trek away and did not offer fish & fingers for the kids! So consequently we took the popularity of Florios (encouraged by the happy hour policy) to be a good sign and having been prepared to wait we were delighted when the manager, Alberto, managed to find us a table for immediate use. We had one of the best nights we have ever had in an Italian restaurant - the food was absolutely faultless, the atmosphere was brilliant and the total bill at £41 was simply amazing. I have to say that my penne gratinate was the best I have ever tasted. We are seriously considering a day trip by train from Manchester just to have lunch here that's how good it is.
Florios Pizzeria Restaurant – ScarboroughHad a lovely Indian on Sunday night, so hot
Parvin – YorkRegularly eat here with friends and plan to celebrate our birthdays here as always great food excellent service and one of the oldest well established restaurants in Harrogate.
William & Victoria Restaurant & Wine Bar – Harrogateit was great i love it, it is the best restaurant in Yorkshire xx
Oakleys Grill and Pizzeria – SkiptonA really good find, brilliant coffee and Food, warm welcome and reasonable. Prices looking forward to trying their Sunday lunch They also have a very unusual market selling all sorts of interesting bric-a-brace and fashion etc Well worth a visit! Liz
The Old Canteen – HuddersfieldWas looking for somewhere to eat this evening when driving home from Leeds and happened upon the Crooked Billet. I was really happy we found it! My mam had a lovely lamb shoulder that fell apart and my duck dish was beautiful. Grassington breast that was perfectly cooked, a confit duck leg I could live on and fresh duck liver pate, with veg and a tasty gravy. Fantastic meal, great staff and comfortable atmosphere.Too expensive (but very reasonable for the quality) for a couple of times a week - unfortunately - but I'll definitely be going back soon.
The Crooked Billet – TadcasterBest Indian I've had in ages. Starters were delicious, lovely crisp onion bhajis. Main course was even better, more than generous proportions of meat and the breads were fresh and light. Bit pricier than your normal cafe type curry house but that's not what this place is. Staff were excellent also - highly recommended.
Omar Khans – BradfordExtensive menu, great decor, very friendly staff, excellent value food.
Le Metropolitain – HalifaxHaving read the reports on Volare we decided to give it a go. The restaurant has a lovely cosy atmosphere and the service was good friendly and attentive. The menu is extensive with a full suite of Mediterranean options. We chose calamari but found them to be of the deep fried heavily battered variety and had been cooked before the fryer got to temperature resulting in a fat laden offering which was refunded when we were asked if it was good. We also chose the mussels - which were delicious but we had to request the crusty bread offered with it in the menu as this had been overlooked. For mains one went for pizza and the other went for salmon. The pizza was felt to have been the pre-frozen variety and had the soggiest of soggy bottoms and little taste - the salmon however was superb. Overall the meal was disappointing and this might well be the result of having too large a range of options on the menu resulting in the use of many pre prepared meals. £46 for 2 people seemed a lot ( including £14.00 for a bottle of wine) however if the food had been up to scratch this would have been OK. Shame really - the restaurant has many redeeming features but we doubt if we will take the lotters of it's food quality again by returning.
Volare Mediterranean Restaurant – HuddersfieldThis shop holds a Fish and Chip Quality Award from the National Federation of Fish Friers. You can be confident of the quality of food and service available at this shop.
Whitehead’s Fish and Chips – HornseaGreat food, fantastic hospitality & a very well stocked bar. We discovered this little gem last year while navigating the Leeds & Liverpool canal so went back twice in the same week this year & we were not disappointed. To say that there were 4 families that all descended at the same time we were met with a very warm & accommodating welcome. Good choice off beers & superb wine list compliment the excellent menu. This has to be one of (if not the) best pubs in the area.
Slaters Arms – KeighleyI went there with family in eid day absolutely rubbish starter haleem was ok all waiters are untrained this was my last vist
Punjab Sweet House and Chargrill Centre – BradfordLast stayed here about 15 years ago and it was nice to get back to this beautiful part of the world. Helmsley is a pretty little market town and the Black Swan is an ancient pub that overlooks the main square. It now has a lot more rooms than before and we stayed in one of the more modern ones overlooking the pretty garden. The restaurant is excellent with great service, good food, plenty of space and a good wine list. They also have a new tearoom which wasn’t there before.
