great coffee, lunch, ambiance and company!!
Pig and Pastry – YorkWonderful atmosphere, cosy and warm with roaring open fires. Real ale, real food - can't be beaten!
Shibden Mill Inn – HalifaxBeen twice recently and can thoroughly recommend the £10 for 3 courses menu. Some items on the menu do have a supplement but even so its excellent value and no scrimping on value. The only complaint would be that due to the low ceilings and lack of soft furnishings it can get a bit noisy. Even still I can't wait to go back.
Design House – HalifaxThe Duke's food is second to none. Service is impeccable and the atmosphere is welcoming & comfortable. Well worth a visit from out of the area for the food alone and worth a visit to have a beer and some banter with James, Maria, Dan, Hazel and the friendly locals. Top draw in every sense of the word. One visit wasn't enough, I've been several times and I'll be back. (like Arnie). Recommended: chilli melt, steaks from local butchers and especially the Xmas menu. Also, don't miss out on Maria's jacket chips. Enjoy.
Duke of York – HalifaxMy family and I had Xmas lunch here this year. 25/12/10. We were really looking forward to it but the whole experience was terrible. Staff were rude and kept us waiting in the car park before allowing us to go in. There was a mix up with the starters, some of us were served and others not. The food was only average. What this venue needs to take on board is that Xmas lunch is an experience and this was sadly lacking. Shall not be returning
George and Dragon – YorkI travel to Leeds monthly for work and thought I'd take the opportunity to visit Prashad for lunch whilst I was there after seeing them take second place in Gordon Ramsay's Best Restaurant. I was particularly excited as I'm a vegetarian and although a curry lover, am bored of what Brighton (my hometown) has to offer. I was not disappointed as I have never eaten Indian food like it. My partner is a carnivore but he was as intrigued as me. The food is totally different from any other I have tasted before - exciting, interesting and seriously tasty, and I left feeling comfortably full rather than bloated. The service was excellent - the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. It was well worth the trip!
Prashad – BradfordI am a vegetarian with a lot of food allergies so dining out can sometimes be tricky. At Mango, it couldn't have been easier. Everything is marked on the menu clearly and the owner was only too happy to accommodate all my special requests. Add to that the fact that the food was absolutely divine and you know you have struck gold. Everything tasted fresh and we knew it had been cooked to order. I just can't wait for all the bad weather to clear so I can make the drive across from Leeds more easily and more frequently. I will certainly be going back...again...and again...and again!
Mango Vegetarian – WetherbyI have visited Valentino's on a number of occasions with my Partner and family. I have found the food to be fresh, cooked, presented, and prepared to a very high standard, I have never had a bad meal at Valentinos. There has always been a huge choice of dishes available. I have found the staff to be friendly, welcoming and always eager to please. I would recommend Valentinos and advise people to book in advance as it can get very busy on Fridays and Saturdays.
Valentinos Italian Restaurant – WakefieldMy husband and i came all the way up from London to eat at Prashad, we were so inspired watching them on the tv and supported them through the whole programme, we thought they should've been the winners, especially now after eating there and meeting Kaushy and her son, wow wow wow, an absolutely amazing evening, Kaushy gave me a recipe and sat with us and made us feel at home, her son was very accommodating and managed to fit us in (even though they were fully booked) i would 100% recommend Prashad and we will definitely drive the 200 miles to go and eat there again, a truly fantastic evening. I just wish they lived nearer to us, we would be there all the time. Definite winners.
Prashad – BradfordSuperb range of home cooked meals. Haddock Fish & Chips is brilliant, tastes delicious. Excellent mine host.
Swan and Cygnet – HullI would not recommend this restaurant as the manger/owner is extremely rude. He started shouting at my wife as she had a discount card for his restaurant. We contacted the card issuers who said this wasn't the only complaint about the owner and they removed them from their website. The card issuer was Tastecard, so if you have used it in the past it won't be accepted here anymore.
Sonali Restaurant – TadcasterI was taken back by the quality of food at this place! I have just booked for NYE they have a set menu and live entertainment, and by the looks of their booking diary for NYE i was just in time!
Kebabeesh – BradfordA great little place. Superb service, plenty of meat and vegetable options, and everything was perfectly cooked (although the broccoli was stone cold). Will be back.
Fazenda Rodizio Bar and Grill – Leeds City CentreThe best Indian restaurant in Harrogate. food and service is very good.
Ali Raj Tandoori – HarrogateWe called in to Sonali restaurant tonight to book a table for three people whilst across the road having a drink. I wanted to check that they were taking the taste card because it does say to mention this when booking. I was told that they 'didn't like' the taste card but I could use it tonight on this one occasion. I said that they shouldn't be falsely advertising if they weren't prepared to honour our taste card. The restaurant was completely empty when I called in, not one other person eating. We booked for 7.15pm and were the first people there. The meal was okay, lamb very chewy but made no complaints and asked for the bill after we had finished eating. After looking at the bill, only £12.35 had been deducted not 50%, in fact we should have had £20 off the bill. When I questioned this, I was met with hostility and told "I knew I shouldn't have let you in tonight". I said again that they should not be advertising 50% off the total food bill if they weren't prepared to honour it. I was told that it was down to the managers discretion what he took off the bill, again I said you are misleading people by advertising 50% off then. He was angry, raising his voice whilst I stayed calm and just asked him to take 50% off the food bill. He angrily changed the bill and I gave him my debit card, he said he only took cash, I didn't have any, he wasn't happy about taking the debit card and told me he didn't want to see us in the restaurant again. This was all because I wanted what they were advertising and he had obviously gone off the idea of it...........quite happy to get the restaurant advertised though. Sonali is still advertising on this website, I want everyone to be aware that they may also be met with the same hostility, from not a very nice manager at Sonali. Go somewhere else, Aagrah a few miles away is a lovely Indian restaurant, they don't take the taste card but nice people and better value for money.
Sonali Restaurant – TadcasterIt was the best Indian restaurant that we have ever been to. We were made to feel very welcome. All our dishes were explained to us..very helpful. It was my sons birthday and they made it very special for him. Highly recommended and excellent value too.
Prashad – BradfordStunning food, quite frankly some of the finest we have ever had. A lot of the flavours were new to us and the mixed starter just showcased the amazing skills at work in the kitchen. We came in December for a birthday meal and it really was a special meal. After seeing the restaurant on TV it felt like we already knew them and this feeling was only heightened when kaushy came front of house to chat with everyone - what a lovely talented lady. If you are in any doubt about missing the meat in your meal then don't be. Just go! Not the usual fatty taste you are left with after a normal curry this food is so fresh and tasty just give it a go we certainly will be going back in the new year.
Prashad – BradfordFantastic food and atmosphere.Even changed the table arrangement for us so we could sit closer together and hold hands! Only downfall was one of the staff(the oldest one) suggesting that we sit on each others laps..how rude!!!!!
