Really nice venue. Good choice of burgers. Service was slow though, long time to wait for drinks.

We have ate here quite a few times and it’s always been nice. However for a table of three a 10% service charge was added to our bill on this visit, food wasn’t hot and had to chase our drinks which took ages to come. Wont be back, service wasn’t great and with the added charge…. No thanks.

Another visit to The Empire Theatre means another visit to Ma E’s for dinner! After years of the same ritual (at least once a month) I don’t think we’ve every had a bad meal! Menu is mainly pizza’s and but there are lighter options like salads & small bites (pizza pasty, four salad options, nachos, Bruschetta) and sharing platters like a ploughman's lunch for one person or a larger charcuterie for two. But my favourite and usually my first option is their homemade Scouse with warm crusty bread and pickled red cabbage. But with it being 27° outside we settled on sharing a ‘My Fair Lady’ and a ‘ Guys & Dolls’ instead. Which leaves room for their very tasty choice of desserts, all served with cream or ice cream. With an extensive drink menu including tea & coffee you won’t be disappointed. And you’re not going to break the bank either. And to top it all off, the staff are extremely friendly, there’s great service and the music never disappoints! Another 10/10 visit. Thank you!

We often visit here when we are in Liverpool. But the service was awful despite it being empty! We sat and watched our meals sat on the passe for ages, my husbands Mexican lasagne sauce was baked to the dish it had been there that long. The manager who had taken our drinks order walked passed it three times looking at it. Clearly “not her job”. We commented to the manager who had served our drinks, she just looked blankly at us and asked if the food was cold. No, but it was dried out! The bill arrived and a 10% service charge had been added. Another colleague came to take the card payment and U pointed out that it was poor that they added a service charge after we complained about our food service (and since when is that the norm for two covers?! A table of 6 I understand). She took it off and said she would speak to the manager who turned out to be the same woman we had already complained to. Very poor service and this impacted our main course.

Menu was limited but the pizza selection was fantastic. I selected a Marilyn Monroe pizza with feta cheese, it was truly delicious. My friends picked the Charlie Chaplin which was equally as delicious. The waiter who served us was very pleasant and a nice bloke. Our early evening food before our theatre show was a big success.

Enjoyed the setting on Albert Dock very much. Food OK but not memorable. Service slow. Ribs not bad but chicken fajitas disappointing.

Stepping into Ma Egertons felt like stepping back in time. Perfectly situated just behind the Liverpool Empire Theatre, this historic pub is full of character, rich theatrical history, vintage charm, and a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere, making it the ideal place to start an evening at the theatre. The five of us, ladies of different generations, shared delicious platters, olives and hummus, along with Prosecco, beer, and red wine. The menu isn’t extensive, but everything we tried looked and tasted fantastic. We also spotted other diners enjoying the homemade pizzas and famous Scouse with crusty bread, both of which looked wonderful. The staff were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and welcoming, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. If you’re looking for an authentic taste of Liverpool, hearty comfort food, and a warm atmosphere before a show, Ma Egertons is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back!
