We are not general pub - goers, however, after spending the evening and eating at the Queens Head last Saturday 25th October 2025, I must share what an excellent meal we both had. The lamb shank had a rich gravy and creamy mashed potato that was delicious. My husband had the chicken burger which was really well made with great chips. On a previous occasion, we have enjoyed the home-fired pizzas. Combined with a warm, cosy atmosphere and absolutely wonderful, helpful staff behind the bar, we are lucky to have discovered such a great place. So happy that it is local for us too. Thankyou all at the Queens Head:)

Abbiamo aspettato 50 minuti per due tapas, più 10 minuti per un margarita praticamente analcolico. Altri dieci minuti per i dolci, portati neanche contemporaneamente ma a dieci minuti uno dall’altro. I camerieri ci evitavano e non si sono mai scusati per il ritardo. I due che sembravano essere i manager (dal modo in cui riprendevano i camerieri e gestivano la cassa) hanno portato il proprio figlio di probabilmente neanche due anni. Tranquillamente andavano con lui in braccio in giro per il locale e nelle cucine, a un certo punto addirittura l’hanno messo in braccio a un cameriere. In sintesi cibo buono, forse andrebbe spiegata meglio l’idea della tapas (sono piatti davvero scarsi), ma il servizio è stato orrendo.

Mathews Kitchen is an absolute gem for seafood lovers. The service is warm and welcoming — service with a smile. The seafood is wonderfully fresh, and every dish feels carefully prepared. The ceviche is a standout favourite, bursting with flavour, and the tuna special was fantastic. A lovely family-run restaurant that’s well worth a visit!

Fantastic seafood restaurant on High Street in Whetstone I’ve been a few times with family and friends and every visit has been memorable. The seafood is always fresh, the portions are generous, and the cocktails are amazing. My steak with prawns just melted in my mouth, and I couldn’t resist finishing with their homemade apple tart and vanilla ice cream so delicious! Big thank you to the whole team. Definitely recommend!

After seeing a reel on Instagram my sister thought this was just the place to be treated for her birthday. OMG! We were not disappointed ! We enjoyed the bottomless sea food with bubbles and spices pineapple Margaritas. The only thing I can say is WOW! WOW! WOW! From the very fresh and beautifully dressed oysters to the Cajun spiced prawns - they just kept coming - to the flowing bubbles and endless margaritas, our tastebuds were doing a happy dance. Being a bit of a Margarita snob ( self proclaimed) I could not get enough of this version. I even tried to get the recipe, but to no avail. I will have to put on my mixologist apron and do a few chemistry experiments to recreate this awesome cocktail. Coleen who served us was very attentive and her infectious smile was always to the ready! You were brilliant, thank you. My sister was also surprised with a lovely sticky toffee pudding as a treat for her birthday. The gesture was really appreciated and thank you for the birthday balloons dressing her chair on arrival. The trek to Tooting all the way from the East coast of Kent to come and see what all the rage was about, was worth every penny. The cozy interior lent itself to having a fab chat with our neighbours who informed us they come every Friday for lunch. This is probably testimony to the excellent quality and tasty food. My sister and I were in our seafood element and we will definitely return for more. Looking forward to our next visit.

What a fantastic seafood restaurant in Whetstone! A true family business with beautiful décor, a great atmosphere, and excellent service. The food portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable for the fresh, high-quality seafood they serve. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves fresh seafood and delicious food.
