A lovely dog friendly pub serving great food with efficient and helpful staff
The Owl – LoughtonThank you so much for your kindness to me yesterday. I had a table booked for 2 plus one small dog. Unfortunately my friend was involved in a bad car accident - she is mostly ok, it could have been far worse, but the car will be written off. Please could you thank your staff for calming me down and making sure I was OK to drive. They were so thoughtful and it was much appreciated at a very stressful time. I'm so sorry I didn't get to eat lunch as you have a wonderful menu as well as a beautiful venue. I hope to return in the future.
The Owl – LoughtonNice food and good service with a relaxed atmosphere.
The Owl – LoughtonSix of us went for Sunday lunch last weekend. The meat and most of the vegetables were excellent, especially the carrots. But I have to say the roast potatoes were really disappointing. Really hard on the outside and hard on the inside too. As if they had been reheated. We ordered an extra portion too and hardly ate any. It really spoiled my dinner and everyone left some of them. The pudding was very nice though
The Owl – LoughtonGreat food, friendly Service and amazing ambiance. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening ending meal at The Owl. We would definitely go there again
The Owl – LoughtonWe had a great family dinner at The Owl. The service was exceptional and it was great value for money.
The Owl – LoughtonSunday lunch with young children, We booked for lunch with friends. Location is great, as close to the forest so we managed a walk first. There’s a play area which is great for the children. The outside area is lovely, lots of tables, seating areas and it’s nice and quiet. There’s also a cool tipi area should it rain. The staff were amazing, friendly, fast and very efficient. Food is better than I have experienced before- we were all very happy with our meals. Overall we were all very impressed and enjoyed our food and experience at the owl.
The Owl – LoughtonWe ordered ceasar salad pizza & fries, the fries were amazing the pizza was good too but the ceasar salad were not as good as last years ones they were smaller and chicken was cheap with no flavour for the price£15.staff friendly & as always outside was lovely.
The Owl – LoughtonHad a great afternoon at The Owl for Father’s Day with my family and our dog. Staff were really friendly and accommodating. Menu options were great, service was brilliant and even had a dog menu for our pooch. Lots of space outside and inside. Will definitely be back.
The Owl – LoughtonI booked the owl for my husband’s birthday lunch and my parents came with us, my parents each had the fish and chips and my husband and I the Korean bbq half chicken. The portions were large but very good. We sat outside because it was a nice day but we’re sheltered by the lovely old trees. All staff were really friendly and helpful. The water otter is still there!
The Owl – LoughtonThe food (roast dinner) was not nice at all. Which is a shame as the reviews were very good for this place, it came out after an hour which is fine because it was busy but when it arrived it was cold, the potatoes were impossible to cut and it was just so dry.
The Owl – LoughtonCame for a meal on Father’s Day - service wasn’t too bad considering how busy it was. Three of us had roasts and all felt the green veg was raw and inedible. The potatoes had an almost impenetrable shell, as if they’d been kept warm a very long time. The meat was ok but not sure I’d return for a roast. One of us had a meal with chips and they were the happiest, so that’s probably the way to go. Really did enjoy how dog friendly is it, and the dog menu is a lovely touch. Dog enjoyed his meal very much.
The Owl – LoughtonNice visit for Father’s Day. Service was good, even though staff were incredibly busy. Food was mainly good. The green veg options, broccoli & savoy cabbage, with Sunday dinner options were basically uncooked and very difficult to eat. Whole party attempted but gave up. Rest was great. We didn’t raise it because everything else was ok and it wasn’t a game changer. Had better meals there.
The Owl – LoughtonMeal was ok had sea bass could have done with a few more potatoes. Liked table service like you used to have.
The Owl – LoughtonWe went on a Sunday , and the food was great especially the Sunday roast ,service was really good and friendly , overall a lovely experience
The Owl – LoughtonWe loved our visit to the Owl, second time we’ve been and we will come back again, especially on sunny days for the children to play on the lawn and in the play area. The Sunday roasts were good - the vegan nut roast was delicious but we served with a non vegan Yorkshire pud and the potatoes were a bit over done. But overall it was great and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
The Owl – LoughtonRoast Chicken was tough and overcooked. Roast potatoes were soggy and not enough of them. Plate was dominated by ridiculously large Yorkshire pudding. Not much gravy. Worst Sunday roast I have had for a long time.
