On a recommnedation from Sugarvine, 8 of us from Manchester dined upstairs at Portofino on Saturday the 21st of June. We all loved it. Thanks to all.
Portofino – Lytham
Away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, Lytham holds essential ingredients. The Windmill, Lytham Green, Lytham Hall and the River Ribble estuary overlooking the Welsh mountains are all worthy of a postcard. A host of up-market restaurants will tickle your tastebuds.

Portofino – LythamLovely Tapas restaurant serving a great selection of hot tasty dishes by friendly staff. Will be returning shortly for a repeat!
Vida Tapas and Bistro – LythamEnjoyed my portion of fish and chips from Whelans. A nice touch that they have the floor turfed for the Worl Cup. Glad the takeaway was in paper not those bloody boxes! Keep up the good work.
Whelans – LythamWe really enjoyed our Drunk Buffalo experience last night. Firstly it's a great looking space upstairs at Henry's but I guess they could have made more of the pop up in terms of decorating the space. I was pleased to see a few excellent American craft beers in the fridge, which ties into this hip burger beard thing. The helpful bearded waiter explained all and that orders and payment needs to be made at the bar. The menu which looks similar to SoLita's in Manchester, was short and sweet. I had the Buffalo Burger and the wife the Drunk Buffalo (soaked in Jack Daniels). Both were very tasty, moist and filling. We shared a Buffalo tray which had fries, pulled pork and crispy jalapenos. Prices were reasonable, however I would expect fries included not as an extra payment. It all happend nice and quick too, so a perfect pit stop if you are on the move. We will definitely return and would strongly recommend to others. Normally these hip dining trends take a while to get to leafy Lytham, so well done Henry's for taking the plunge on this!
Drunk Buffalo Club – LythamWell what can I say a great place to eat if you fancy a proper American style gourmet burger or just a nice cold beer or glass of wine. Big screen TVs and great relaxed atmosphere, downstairs is the more formal award wining Henry's bar and grill and on a hot sunny day you can sit outside all in all a great place. Ten out of ten :)
Drunk Buffalo Club – LythamZest is a great place to meet up for a coffee. Bright airy and contemporary. The food is top notch too. I particularly like breakfast here.
Zest Food & Wine Bar – LythamThis little cafe had a pop up Brazilian restaurant last weekend. Fantastic to have such a quality experience so close to my front door. Great food, cocktails and of course the football. Hopefully we can expect more events like this from the Bite Club!
Park View 4U Cafe – LythamI have been a regular at the Lytham Kitchen but recently have experienced problems with the service, food always been excellent hope this was just a blip.
The Lytham Kitchen – LythamI like the Lytham Kitchen and have been a regular for five years. The quality is excellent but you pay accordingly - it's quite expensive. Last week I took advantage of the "free" regular tea or coffee offer which is available with breakfast orders before 11am. I chose the £8.75 breakfast and a LARGE coffee. I expected to pay the difference between the cost of a regular (£1.70) and large (£2.10) coffee. Not so!! I queried the total charge of £10.85 to be told abruptly by the waitress that the offer only applies when a standard cup is ordered. Perhaps this should have been explained when the order was taken. Regardless of being misled I enjoyed the breakfast but, on this performance, they have lost a regular customer.
The Lytham Kitchen – LythamNice atmosphere - lovely decor. Pleasant staff and really good food.
Vida Tapas and Bistro – LythamThis is a newly opened restaurant, different to most other venues in Lytham. The contemporary decor, good choice of background music and young smiling staff, all go to create a very comfortable atmosphere. There are about 20 international tapas and several sides on offer. Our party of four had 10 different dishes and a couple of sides, not all coming together, so as not to overload the table. The food was was well presented and very well cooked and represented good value for money. Once Vida becomes more well known I see it becoming a popular spot on the Lytham eating circuit.
Vida Tapas and Bistro – LythamOur lunch for 4 at the Queens was great. Cheese and onion pie, pulled pork sarnie, a posh hot dog and a lovely salad. It is a bright and airy venue in a great location on Lytham front. Would return.
Queens Hotel – LythamHaving placed a review on Trip Advisor previous regarding The Station Tavern in Lytham I feel compelled to post an update!!! Easter Bank Holiday Friday on a very very sunny day and Lytham was a wash with day trippers and locals being visited by family & friends a like. I decided that following a dog walk our choice would be the Tavern and I have to say the plac...e is growing and growing into a wonderful venue with very very good food ~ great wines and ales and above all I have to again comment on the professional staff ~ their attention to detail and customer service. With a packed restaurant inside and others with bar food it was the outside that truly captured the day ~ a wide diverse group from the RNLI to dog walkers to families & friends ~ what appears to be taking place is and I can only relate this to restaurants ~ bars and bistro's in Brighton ~ full of vibe ~ freshness ~ catering for everyone ~ outside seating with an amazing vibe of people enjoying the Easter Bank Holiday ~ The Station is winning!! Lytham caters for many menus, appetites and budget and The Station Tavern is becoming the top if the tree for all the reasons above. Listening to a group of four middle aged couples sat next to us outside who had travelled from Bury to see family ~ they stated how 'simply impressed' they were and how they wished The Station Tavern was in Bury
Station Pub and Grill – LythamBurger and chips was spot on. The place looks great now after its refurbishment. It is a big place and hard to fill but they regularly do especially on band nights. Nice quiet outside area too. When I ordered my drink I asked if my dog was OK to be on the premises. The Landlord said yes and when he served my pint of Murphy's, he also gave me a side plate full of dog biscuits, which I thought was a very nice touch. We be returning to the Station Tavern soon.
Station Pub and Grill – LythamThe guy on the phone was very helpful with my order. The pizza was good, just a bit too much cheese on it.
Lytham Pizza Company – LythamWe really like the Lowther Cafe. A refreshing change to some of the pretentious establishments that abound these days. Simple and unfussy food, cooked well and service with a smile. Harks back to a different era when the British seaside was the place to be. Even the staff calling out your meal ticket has the charm of an old bingo hall. It's great value too!
Lowther Pavilion Cafe – LythamBurger and chips x 2 was filling and tasty. Service was attentive and prompt. Only complaint was that the outside area was a complete mess for the whole time we were there. The spring sun must have made the beer garden extra busy and I assume they were under staffed. Still one of my favourites in Lytham, especially as I can take my dog.
Queens Hotel – LythamFour of us went to the Wetherspoons Railway pub in Lytham. Two were snacking on chicken wings and chips. Two were eating Chilli and rice. All seemed satisfied and also enjoyed the beer, which there is rather a lot of. The only downside is the hike to use the gents.
