After reading various reviews on the Koh samui, i decided to book our Christmas meal for 29 people. The service and food was excellent. We were well looked after, from start to finish. Fantastic.

Koh Samui Thai Restaurant – Manchester City CentreWent for the first time this week after trying numerous times. I shouldn't have bothered. I fail to see how people can say this is the best in Manchester, as it is far from that. We ordered eight tapas dish's between two of us and from that, one dish was ok (chicken with paprika). I ordered a mushroom dish with cheese that came as mushroom in a tomato sauce, as the waitress obviously misheard me say 38! That was ok but at 4.75 I would have expected more than 3 button mushrooms, absolute ripoff. Very average food, hardly any taste and we both found it bland Anyway the bill came to Fifty one pounds (inc 4 bottles perroni) and we both left still feeling peckish. Can't believe so many people rave about the place. But it has got a good atmosphere.
El Rincon de Rafa – Manchester City CentreTried Dough Yesterday evening after just moving to the area. This is a no brainer alternative to the pizza hut and pizza express chains, the food is far superior and the DOUGH is home made on the premises... you can taste the difference. Had the Xmas pizza! very festive very filling very tasty and i got a starter and a mince pie and coffee for £11! excellent value. Staff were really friendly and definitely an experience I will be doing again and recommending others do!
Dough Pizza Kitchen – Northern QuarterI'm no foodie but I know what I like. I was hungry and was out with three foodies. I've had a nice in Japanese meal in Manchester and Wilmslow before but all for of us agreed that this was the best authentic Japanese meal in the city. The service was helpful without being intrusive and the sushi platter was enjoyed so much that we ordered another straight after the first. Fresh, tasty and well presented. As is the style these days the kitchen was open and the cooked meat dishes were enjoyed by all. Bottled Asahi and Sapporo suited our taste and the manager had gone to great lengths to ensure that the food was at the top of the agenda. The menu was extensive too without breaking the bank in this credit crunch era. We'll be back and get a green tea in :-)
Tokyo Season – Manchester City CentreI went to this restaurant on Saturday night with friends…it was packed out and we had to wait in line to be seated for about 15 minuets but as they were so busy we didn’t mind waiting, when we finally got seen to our table had been taken so we were left hanging around the bar area for a while for them to find us a table and after about 10 minutes a nice apologetic guy found us one down stairs which was quieter and better for us, the waiters and staff were very friendly and efficient and everything was going well until I decided to pay the ladies a visit and I have never been so disgusted in all my life, the sanitary bin in the ladies was actually overflowing with dirty sanitary towels and even stained tissue, I have been to festivals and the toilets have been nicer than and I think it is absolutely not acceptable. I did report this to a member of staff that did seem concerned and apologized and said he would sort it out, it has really put me off visiting La Tasca’s now and seen as we traveled 60 miles round trip to visit this restaurant I am very disappointed!!!!
La Tasca – Manchester City CentreWe went here on Saturday night before going to the theatre and all i can say is that the service was terrible and it ruined my evening, all we wanted was a nice meal before we saw the show and what we got was the rudest of staff and terrible service, we wanted a nice relaxed 3 course meal but as the service was so bad we just ate a pizza and went - i will never go back !
Giovannis – Manchester City CentreTerrible!! We were in Manchester Christmas shopping and wanted a nice meal to cap off the day. Upon arrival everything seemed very promising, good atmosphere, nice place. We had an 8.30 booking and showed up early. We were seated straight away and had a lovely table in the window. Wine and starters arrived very quickly and were quite tasty. I had ordered the lamb shank for my main course and it arrived shortly after our starters were taken away. It was stone cold inside, so we sent it back. I was sent another one which was also cold.....someone cannot work the microwave! Anyway - I didn't want a third. I then waited 30mins for a portion of lasagna and by this point my partner had completely finished! A second bottle of wine came by way of an apology (nobody actually said "sorry"). It's a good job we were in high spirits because we did see the funny side! I decided to order a pudding to finish off this "delightful" meal, so went for Pannacotta......it was still frozen inside!!! Nobody cooks in this restaurant...I will say no more.....
Giovannis – Manchester City CentreI ate here yesterday evening and was very impressed. The sushi was the freshest I've tasted and the main noodle meal I had was the nicest I've had for a long time.
Tokyo Season – Manchester City CentreThis was my third time at this restaurant in the past six months. I have been once for afternoon meal, once in the evening with partner and friend and once for Christmas. The food was ok the first time but they sat 6 of us in a booth clearly designed for 4 people so things were a little cosy to say the least. I do like this type of food (Quality Steak, Fish etc) and despite the first time I went with a friend for an early evening meal, which was ok. The food is just ok, nothing special and not a patch on Gaucho’s in Manchester. If you are going out for a good steak my advice is to go to Gaucho the service is better and the food quality is far superior. The thing that irritated us was they tried to put six guys in a booth that would not fit four of us comfortably. We immediately moved to a round table and told the girl serving us we could not stay there, as it was not comfortable. She said we would have to move but after telling her to get the manager to move us she seemed to leave it at that. The main gripe was the place charges at the top end of the scale but the food you get does not reflect the cost. As an example the advertise Chicken/beef skewers as a starter and they charge £5.95/£6.95 for these and they deliver ONE skewer for the price!!! We were disgusted at this as we thought Skewers meant plural not singular!! Summary: The venue is nice, layout and design is good and it is very busy. The food and service let the place down, it is expensive (For what you get) and the girl that served us was embarrassed by the lack of volume in the food. I would say to anyone considering going DO NOT BOTHER! Go to Gaucho’s in Manchester instead as its better value for money and they have more choice and the people serving you are not robots! I could say a lot more but I think over priced, poor value & terrible service/attitude just about covers it!
The Grill On the Alley – Manchester City CentreFood good, staff absolutely dreadful. In particular the Manager and owners. That is basically all you need to know. We had a special offer deal, 2 for 1, and after the manager was incredibly rude to us, we ended up being dragged into the managers office to show him the offer on the website. I couldn't believe it! Would never ever consider going back.
Stock Restaurant – Manchester City Centrewe went here for a pre theatre meal, we have never eaten this cuisine before and were really looking forward to it, even though we didn't have a clue what to order but this is all part of trying new food isn't it..... The restaurant has nice decor, great friendly staff, but i just thought the food was a bit basic and even boring, very bland and uninteresting even though the menu sounds great when reading it. I sampled 4 meals from other member of our party and still wasn't over impressed. The food was cooked ok, just lacked taste & flavour, Everything seemed to come with rice ( tasteless ) and salad ( separate piles of grated carrot, shredded red cabbage and a single lettuce leaf ) Maybe this is similar to other turkish restaurant i am not sure but i wont be rushing back to this or any other turkish restaurant.
Topkapi Palace – Manchester City CentreWhen there on a business dinner with customers (6 person in total) after reading the good reviews. The food was decent but the service was virtually non existence. Maybe we were not that early. It was busy but most customers have been served. I don't see why there was a need to be treated differently? Appalling attitude by 2 waiters. The manager just cover up and give lotsa lousy excuses. Will never go there again.
Giovannis – Manchester City CentreWe heard about the classical British food on the menu here and when we arrived we were not disappointed the black pudding fritters were moreish. I had the lamb shank with minted pea champ & braised red cabbage with a beautiful lamb gravy and my partner had the bacon chop which was with smoked cheese mash and peppercorn sauce. When we got to the desserts the chef obviously had fun here a chocolate & orange creme brulee and my favourite childhood memory a jam roly poly which was beautifully presented with amazing custard. I advise anyone to visit Toms at least once we will definitely be returning again and again
Mr Thomas’s Chop House – Manchester City CentreI really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and we enjoyed the food. The place has a comfortable atmosphere. Will likely come again.
Tokyo Season – Manchester City Centrewas not very impressed when i dined there. service was slow, empty plates were not cleared and was charged full price when they were advertising 1/2 price sushi outside the restaurant.
Tokyo Season – Manchester City CentreIf you have lived in Japan, eating here will give you a real burst of nostalgia. If you haven't, a meal here will give you an idea of what you're missing. It's the sort of good value, tasty food that you get in this sort of restaurant in Japan. As well as the food being well-prepared and presented the service achieves a balance of discretion and friendliness that is a real pleasure. I had a great meal here last Thursday. I was drawn in by the menu outside the door. They seem to have all the dishes that I miss from my years in Tokyo. Well, almost... If, like me, you yearn for okonomi-yaki you'll have to wait for the Christmas menu. I might try wangle myself another business trip to Manchester just for that.
Tokyo Season – Manchester City CentreMy husband and I visited Grill on the Alley on a very busy Friday evening, after reading some great reviews and being advised by a number of friends - we weren't disappointed. The setting is loud, busy and fun, so not really the place for a quiet romantic meal for 2. Saying that however, it was unobtrusive and we had a great night together, having some wonderful food to start (Spring rolls and Fish cakes) followed by a perfectly cooked, delicious sirloin steak each. The wine we had was delicious, the service first class, and we are already looking at going back as soon as possible. Highly recommended.
The Grill On the Alley – Manchester City CentreWe love the friendliness at Ning, and the freshness of the food. Never disappointed.
