We visited Chaophraya on Sunday evening and have to agree with all previous reviewers and say that everything about this restaurant is outstanding. The service is fantastic - we arrived at 4.30 and were told we could either eat in the bar from the bar menu (which is very nice for a bar menu and you can sit and watch them cooking in the open kitchen and there are some lovely booths to sit in) or we could wait till 5.00 and go in the restaurant. We decided to wait so they brought us some complimentary Thai crackers whilst we waited which helped with the hunger pangs! The building itself is beautiful and the restaurant inside is gorgeous - lots of authentic Thai furnishings and pictures. Also the menu shows some very old pictures of Thailand in the 1800's which was fantastic to see if you have been to Thailand - to see whats different and what hasn't changed. The staff are all very friendly and chatted to us about where we had been in Thailand and where they were from etc. As for the food - well I could have closed my eyes and been back in Thailand - it was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious - I could not fault any of it. This restaurant has everything - looks, ambience, service and stunning food. Also, the price is very reasonable - £45 for a two course meal for two with wine. HIGHLY recommended - can't wait to go back.

We want to express our thanks to the manger at the restaurant who after there was an altercation near our table, gave us a refund on our drinks ,then this week sent us an invitation to dine there again for free. Which we definitely accepting.

We had always stumbled into China Town previously when we wanted Chinese, its easy to miss the rice bowl! What a nice change from the glaring lights and "all-you-can-eat" scenario you come across so often in China Town - the food was delicious and the range of choice was amazing! would particularly recommend King Prawn or Fillet Steak dishes although could not really fault anything! Service was attentive but discreet and the restaurant has a lovely ambience. will definitely be back!

My wife and I visited a couple of weeks back on a Saturday night. It didn't start great as they'd lost our booking but we were taken to the bar. 40 minutes later and after a number of requests we eventually got a very nice corner table. The food was really good - we had mussels (not overcooked), a great ravioli, some average gnochi and the fish (snapper and sea bass) were cooked perfectly. The potato and herb crust on the sea bass was magical. The service on the other hand only went downhill after the initial 40 minute wait. We managed to land a fairly surly waitress and like others on this list had to speak to 4 people before we got the bill at the end of the night. Dont' get me wrong, it was good and the food bordered on great but with service that bad and so much competition, I'm just not convinced we'll go back again soon.

The Best Thai Restaurant in Manchester The food at Chaophraya was incredible, like nothing I have ever tasted. The outstanding food was matched by impeccable service. I would definitely recommend Chaophraya for any occasion.

My husband and I visited one Thursday early evening (approx 5pm). We were rather surprised to be told even at this time we were lucky to be able to get a table for 5.30pm when food service began. The restaurant is quite long and narrow with Victorian tiling throughout. After seeing the prices, we decided to stick to main courses only - I chose Goosnargh duck with a mulled port wine sauce (£16.95), as recommended by the waitress. The duck was pan-fried beautifully but was ruined by the over-use of seasoning/spices (mainly cloves) in the sauce. My husband opted for the Sirloin steak with chips (£14.95) which he said was very good. Overall, the meal was ok but rather overpriced for what it was - you're probably paying extra for the nice surroundings! I believe better food is available elsewhere for the same money or less.

Impressive menu offering a wide selection of vegetarian breakfasts, snacks, and main meals. An excellent choice of drinks is also available. An effort is also made to cater for special dietry requirements (there are different types of milk, for instance). The decor is bright, but without the irritating music that so often goes with it. Service is efficient and pleasant. A long overdue and worthwhile vegetarian venue for the City centre.

Loved the food, didn't like the fact that they didn't have toilets (!!!) and didn't give you real cutlery for the salads... But the food is definitely good... go for it but use the restrooms first elsewhere!

Took the family for a lovely meal on Monday evening, quite busy for a Monday, nice pleasant atmosphere with great service, Most importantly the 'nosh' was 'top dollar' highly recommended with no complaint whatsoever. Had soup, ribs, a little dim sum, duck and pancakes a few main courses more than enough for everyone, 120 quid with drinks for 6 adults.
