This was sent as an email to the smoke house in caister, I have recived a reply to say they have taken this table off their booking system, really pleased that they have made this decision. After booking my table on 26th August for a table for 7 at 5.30pm last night, ( Sat 18th Sept) we where quite disappointed to be sat at the most uncomfortable table In the bar area the bench table, no cushions where available, it was an area that at times became very noisy from patrons ordering drinks at the bar and although we enjoyed our meal the experience it was less than what we wanted. I would have assumed after booking at least several weeks ahead, surely we would have been allocated a better table. The bench table in retrospect should be for last min bookings or walk ins.

This is a small restaurant with just a few tables, but that's no bad thing in my view, although the tables themselves (made from old sewing machine treadle tables by the look of it) are a bit small if there are four of you. But the meat quality and cooking is sublime, and the service helpful, friendly and attentive without being at all over the top. A good range of wines, not too costly. It's expensive, but, hey, it's worth it.

Then heard no one had looked at today’s bookings. Finally got a table food was nice but feel service when we got there and how it was dealt with could of been better

Black pork was tough, prawns were mushy, meaning they are not fresh and frozen for too long. Pricing needs to be addressed!

However on this occasion I felt the overall experience was not good. I think we had around 7 different waiting staff attending our table . Two of the young girls didn’t really have any idea what larger they had , and I also asked for a tonic water and she wasn’t sure if they had it ! When the order of drinks arrived it was wrong. Also I ordered chicken wings, when they arrived they were cold . So I had ask for some more . The waitress said she was sorry, and a few minutes later arrived with the wings . Didn’t really enjoy them because I’m guessing they just microwaved them ! . Also felt the portion size was far to much , had way to many chips . So much wasted food . Having said all of this all waiting staff were very friendly and pleasant. Still don’t think we will go back any time soon
