What a lovely place!...and lovely staff too! :P
Faringdon Coffee House – FaringdonA wonderful selection of Italian and English dishes that represent the husband and wife team's nationality. All the staff were jovial and made it a pleasure to eat the excellent food in such nice surroundings. I especially enjoyed my taglietelli and look forward to going again when I shall try another dish from the wonderful choice on the menu. I look forward to taking the family to try the Sunday lunch carvery.
Brothertons – WitneyWe had an enjoyable meal, not to pricey. Fillet steak was meant to be medium/well but arrived very bloody - not my ideal steak. We would eat here again
Red Lion, The – BanburyVery poor service was served by Becky who was rude and did not seem interested would not recommend
Faringdon Coffee House – FaringdonTasty, good food. I would eat there every time. book up first. brilliant place to eat good food.
Ginos – OxfordWe were suprised at how delicious and beautifully presented this food was, considering the low price. The waitresses were all in traditional dress and very attentive. The only down-side would be the small interior, although I did not see their second floor restaurant. Highly recomended.
Thai Gardens – BanburyI love this restaurant- I go there regularly because I love pasta and Italian food and if authenticity and quality are what you're looking for, you'll find it at San Carlo. The staff are always very friendly and attentive, despite how busy they must be (because the place is usually busy, so if you prefer a quieter meal, arrive early). The dining area is spacious, so you're not elbowing people on the table next to you, and I have never had to wait too long for my meal. The food is exquisite- their carbonara is delicious- the best I've ever tasted- just the right amount of sauce so that it just coats the pasta, but does not drown it. Their pizzas, lasagne, penne with vodka and salmon, and Tagliatelle are all delicious too. To my mind, San Carlo is the best Italian in Banbury- it ticks all the boxes- friendly service, great food, nice atmosphere and reasonable prices.
Pizza Calzone – BanburyI went here with the family on Wednesday night. The service on the evening was absolutely amazing. The manager insisted we had a free dish with our meal and also went out of his way to buy the family coffee's after the meal. Will definitely be returning as the food was absolutely outstanding. No downsides to this meal whatsoever.
Taste Of India, The – OxfordGood food, good atmosphere and attentive staff.
Red Lion, The – BanburyWhen I first went in the restaurant I had a very comfortable welcome. The menu had different type's of indian and bangladeshi dishes and that I found very interesting. The service was very proffesional and so is the food. I recommend this to anyone who loves indian food this is one not to miss. They are based in the heart of Bicester in a lovely historic building with full of character(Jaflong) Mustapha
Jaflong – BicesterA nice friendly hotel/pub where nothing is too much for the owner and staff to attend to. Very clean room. Hotel situated in a wonderful quiet spot. Good nights sleep and a comfortable bed. Full of character and charm, a must to return to in the future.
The Peacock Hotel – OxfordThe Jaflong Restaurant is situated in the middle of the historic town of Bicester, 9 miles north of Oxford. It compliments its surroundings extremely well,in fact it has added a new cultural angle in bringing its own bit of historic Bangladesh with it . It’s always good to know that a good business is constantly searching to improve itself; it shows that it’s dynamic and aware of the world of commerce and indeed competition. All of which is a win - win situation for both the business but ultimately for their core target, the customers. It’s particularly good to know that Jaflong’s, in Bicester, are entering the British Curry Award in 2007 and I’m sure that if the judging criteria is as good as that of the Jaflong customers, then they will do very well. The family run restaurant is situated in the Market square and surrounded by many old and listed buildings as is the Jaflong building itself. Being a listed building, this makes aesthetic alterations that bit more complicated and requires a great deal of community awareness and sensitivity, so there will not be many major alteration to this establishment. The restaurant is purposeful and professional, with intelligent use of space, low beams and warm colour, which gives the solid feel of warmth and homeliness. The Shukur family headed by Mr Ali Shukur are the epitome of good restaurateurs; they are naturally caring of their customers and highly knowledgeable of the food and drink they serve, all of this is done in and warm and friendly manner. This front of house is complemented by a kitchen staff second to none; an extensive menu is available and will easily satisfy the ever increasing curry connoisseurs. The food is cooked to perfection and served well and with the minimum of fuss, truly a customer’s delight. A delight awaits you.
Jaflong – BicesterThe food was outstanding. The fish dishes are magnificent, couldn’t be faulted. Lovely atmosphere and brilliant service. This outing was my 69th birthday and it rounded off a wonderful day
Moon and Sixpence – BanburyYou have to visit this place. a gorgeous village and a lovely old pub. the owners are really nice. the whole place has a lovely atmosphere. arrive in the village before 6 and you think no one lives there. even the pub is shut! go to the pub at 7 and it's seems the whole village is there. I loved it.
Boars Head – WantageTiffins is small and friendly. The service is good and the food excellent. Their peshwari naan is the best I have ever tasted!
Tiffins Tandoori Restaurant – OxfordExcellent food. Fab bruschetta, great mushroom pizza. Very friendly staff. Just can't here yourself think on a Friday or Saturday night. Booking recommended on those two nights. Just how food should be...
Pizza Calzone – BanburyLovely restaurant built into old barn behind front bar which has cosy log fire. Lovely food, fresh and local, interesting but not weird and good helpings. Plenty of parking. Great little woodland walk adjacent.
Hand and Shears Inn – WitneyWe selected this restaurant after walking the entire High Street looking for a nice place. We were warmly greeted by the owner/maitre d'/server into a cosy atmosphere with table cloths and candles. There were about 12 tables and we were the first diners of the evening although others came shortly after us. We had studied the menu in the window before entering and decided to indulge in our favourite Italian veal dish - Veal Saltimbocca. We were offered and enjoyed a glass of house wine while waiting for our meal to be prepared and snacked on some warm bread that was promptly brought to the table. Our entrees were served in short order and were piping hot and delicious. In spite of an ample serving it was impossible to resist a portion of home made cheese cake as an "after." All in all, a superior dining experience and we would definitely return.
Cori – Banbury10 oz succulent Ribeye steak, chunky chips, mushroom and peas served with peppercorn sauce, £28. Available Fridays 6pm-9pm.
