Our first visit to Grants of Castlegate was a special occasion for my wife and I (our 54th Wedding Anniversary) and not only did they make it special but also very memorable simply because of the most superb food. The waitresses were also lovely quietly in the background but there when needed looking after all our needs. We are certainly returning in the not too distant future to gradually work through the rest of the menu Thank you all again for a lovely evening David

We enjoyed an excellent family meal at Grants. The food was delicious and the staff were very helpful.

We visited Grants of Castlegate on Sunday evening. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely smile from a lady who was our waitress for the evening. She was very calm and attentive. The food was excellent and the delivery precise- my husband had Scallops followed by the monkfish which was served with a perfect lobster cream sauce. My beetroot and goats cheese tart was very tasty and the my main course of lamb was delicious. So full but unable to resist the sticky toffee pudding we had one to share mmmmmm light and gooey. Lovely atmosphere amongst diners and a very impeccable service.

We love this place - friendly and unpretentious but with great service and superb food. A good range to choose from on the menu and everything perfectly cooked and well presented.

Saturday night was our second visit to Grants and it did not disapoint. We both had the fillet steak which was perfectly cooked. The service was excellent with very friendly and attentive staff. We've tried a few places in Penrith and I'd say this is the best. Lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Nice food and good service. We visited on a Sunday night so was fairly quiet. The lights in the restaurant was very bright, lower lighting would be nice but that’s just a personal choice.

It was very nice and relaxing there the service was amazing. I had the steak and so did my partner and it was soo nice. I was originally going to have the chicken as I saw it on the online menu but when I came to the actual menu at the restaurant it had been changed to something else which was disappointing. But all in all it was a very nice Valentines evening!

Food was nice. The space was fairly empty, despite being told it would be very busy and it was a bit 'soulless' and lacking in atmosphere. We were 'managed' well by one waitress, who was in rather a rush to take our orders. We didn't stay for dessert, as felt they were a bit pricey starting at £7.50. It's always nice to get a wee treat when it is someone's birthday, but none was forthcoming, despite telling the waitress.

Excellent food and service. Every course was delicious finished with a lovely cake for my sons 18th birthday.

Had a fantastic meal on Saturday night food was the best I have had for a long time definitely recommend very easy to book on their website.

My wife and I had a wonderful meal last night , scallops , duck , lamb and monkfish all cooked to perfection and excellent presentation , great friendly service and nice atmosphere . Prices are reasonable for the quality of food and service . Definitely will return . Easy to book on their website .

Delicious meal, we all enjoyed our various choices of lamb, pork and monkfish. Perfect size portions and lovely presentation. Staff very attentive, polite and well trained. Will be back.
