My wife and I booked an 'early-bird' table for 17.00hrs to round off a day's walking in the area; as we live over at Llandudno, the opportunity to eat early suits us well. The 'early-bird' arrangements and menu are very well thought-out, and we would recommend them wholeheartedly. The food was excellent, and we enjoyed the generous portions of local seasonal produce, all presented in a very attractive manner and bursting with taste. We also appreciated as we left that we had eaten very well indeed in an informal atmosphere that was very congenial and relaxing. Finally, the fact that the gratuity is up to the diners was pleasing, meaning that we were pleased to be more generous that if we had been told what to do. All in all, this was an excellent experience, and one that we look forward to repeating.

Always enjoy eating at Y Sgwar, very good food, nice waiting staff and a mix of pleasant other diners, usually! And Tremadog is such a pretty village too.

We had a really lovely evening. The food was faultless, the restaurant gleemed but best of all was the wonderful welcome we had from the lovely friendly staff.

Definitely book as it gets busy. Service excellent. Food delicious. Atmosphere relaxing. I am lactose intolerant and great care was taken to cater for my needs. Highly recommended.

My husband and I visited yesterday 2nd March 2025 for Sunday lunch (second sitting ) We have been to Y Sgwar many times and have always found rather food to be excellent and we weren’t disappointed yet again. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere bubbling… We visit the area very frequently as we have a lodge there and we are blessed with so many excellent restaurants in the area, Y Sgwar is one of our favourites and we will definitely be returning very soon..

We had a brilliant time at Y Sgwar and the food was delicious. I would recommend booking in advance as it can get very busy. The staff were incredibly helpful regarding my boyfriend's gluten allergy and made sure that we felt catered for. The majority of the menu is gluten free which is great for coeliac. The dishes are presented beautifully and taste just as good as they look! I would definitely recommend to anyone in the Tremadog area.

The food was really good, best I've had in a long time with some amazing flavours. We had an early bird meal which was good value and we were stuffed!. The only drawback I have, is that we found the restraunt a little cold, could of done with a few heaters. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

Excellent food and service will go again my friend had the lamb said it was brilliant so I will have that next time .Don’t be put off by the price it’s about value it was well worth the money……

Cannot fault the Y Sgwar food, the staff, and the ambience. So glad we live locally; it's amazing, we are so lucky. Plenty of delicious, home-cooked food, well presented and delivered. Evening meals and Sunday lunch are fab. Prices are also very realistic. Well done, all.

Whilst on holiday, we visited Y Sgwar for the first time this weekend to have Sunday Lunch. It was nice to see that it was busy and very popular. The Sunday lunch was absolutely delicious and I don’t think we’ve ever seen such large Yorkshire puddings! The staff were polite and welcoming and very efficient. Would definitely recommend. Hope we have the opportunity to come again.

We had a family meal on 22nd February.This was our first visit to this restaurant, and we were not disappointed. The food was expertly cooked and served hot and on time. So many restaurants seem to fill the plate with chips and reduce the size of the main ingredient. Not here. My only criticism was the price. You expect to pay for quality of the food and the expertise to cook it correctly, but this is only a minor criticism and we would all look forward to a return visit in the immediate future.
