What an absolute hidden gem, the food is amazing (I mean AMAZING) the maitre d was an absolute legend he was friendly, accommodating and absolutely brilliant at his job. Do not hesitate to book this restaurant you will not be disappointed

Everything perfect

As a local living in Porthmadog I reguarly visit this shop. Absolutely brilliant. Great staff, lovely food, and a fast home delivery service. 5 stars from me.

Just gone back after a few years. How its changed service, awful food, over priced. Offered two pounds off not enough, spoilt our last night. Other customers unhappy go elsewhere.

I was recommend the restaurant by friend who lives close by. On entering the restaurant I was shocked how we were not greeted and had to ask where our seat was, we then had to ask for a menu and then went back to ask to order drinks where the staff seemed to be standing around talking and gossiping. Eventually we got our drinks after the bottle of wine being put on the table without a glass! The food was awful just basic slop being served and the staff didn't even acknowledge that you were there. Hence to say wont be going back, I have never wrote a review good or bad, but this experience was so bad I had to write something.

Brilliant friendly restaurant / pub , lovely pub grub even better Sunday Carvery and at brilliant prices !!! this is a must be Tafarn to visit if you are visiting Porthmadog . dogs are also welcome .

Excellent food and real ales as well as beers wines and spirits. I went on a Saturday night and watched a live band. I had a thoroughly good night out. For a quieter time visit during the week. They also serve food all day 'til 8pm.

Don't eat Here - never had food though, but a few pints - one night I arrived at the Ship Inn went into the bar area, and ask for a pint of lager - there was a very unpleasant SMELL orientating from the men's toilet which at the time I uncomfortable ignored - I however mentioned this to the barman (Not the Publican licence holder) that the smell was unbearable and if the new Licence - really need to make a go of their business venture they should resolve the issue of the stale urine smell . - Tonight - 24/02010 at around 10:30 I and another 5 of my friends went into the Ship Inn -We were unable to order any pints of larger - as they had run out (On a Saturday!!) but this was not the only problem I had - the barman had informed the licences of my comment - and the landlady BANNED ME! - Saying they were trying to make this business work and the only reason that their pub smelt of stale urine was because people like me urinated on the floor! Anyway I will not be going back there because, first - I'm now BANNED!! Second they have no pints of lager to sell and thirdly it really dose smell of stale urine. Recommendations for pub meals in Porthmadog as of 24/04/2010 are The Pencei, The Spooner's (Ffestiniog Railway), and the Sportsman (very nice but expensive).

One of life’s great pleasures is the fulfilling of one’s senses. Be it the feeling of the warm summer breeze on ones face, the smell of freshly cut grass or baked bread, the view over the bay as the tide ebbs it’s way toward high, or the sumptuous taste of beautifully prepared food, few people would deny that these are things that make memories. I have eaten at Moorings on a number of occasions and have always left with that feeling that I had just experienced something a little bit special. Whilst they may not offer the smell of freshly cut grass (not all the time anyway) one’s senses are awash with views, sounds, smells and tastes, all of which leave you satisfied. Needless to say, you should always book, as this restaurant is one that fills much of the time and believe me, if you find yourself in the area, you shouldn’t miss out.
