Preston in Lancashire is a cosmopolitan city located on the River Ribble and is also the home of the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN). Many restaurants and food pubs can be found in the city centre and its suburbs.

Stripestripe

Just visited for a Sunday lunch. Good food and service - nicely paced service. Some of the food can be generously seasoned/spiced which may take a few by surprise.... but our 2 kids ate heartily and (could have) got change from £60 for 2 courses for family of 4 - so good value too.

There can be no knocking the food it was excellent. However the customer service was absolutely appalling. They lie and misadvertise their offers. We ordered two pizzas (no seafood) on their so-called special offer - all pizzas and pastas for £3.95 (excluding seafood dishes). When we got the bill we had to pay a £1.95 supplement. When I queried this the 'manager' said in an unpleasant tone - you had an expensive pizza, and then walked away from us. When we explained that no-where on the menu had it said that this pizza was excluded he threw the money back at us and told us to go and not come back, he barred us from the restaurant!!!! When we then demanded the service charge back he initially refused to give it to us, when I stated to call the police, the threw that at me too. He then repeated that we were banned and took a photograph of us!!! Yes we called the police! Complete nightmare, avoid at all costs.

I have been visiting pond and duk now for some time both with family and friends and i try to find fault because well they can't be that good all the time can they? well i have to say I'm eating my words, the food never fails to impress and the staff are helpful no matter how busy, my self and colleagues went on the 16th of December we were loud and there was a lots of us but they delivered and the bill was reasonable, i think if yo can do it at Christmas when its so busy you have my vote! so if you are thinking of going then do, they best way if you haven't been before is try the deal really cheap for the quality.

literally just come back from Barton Bangla. It was AMAZING! food delicious, hot, tasty and well presented, premises beautiful but the best bit was the attentive staff who made it so enjoyable, I mentioned to one of the waters that we had never been before and were very impressed and upon paying the bill they offered us a complimentary drink. Will definitely be back. :-)

Porcinis is an excellent restaurant all round. From the ALWAYS warm welcome, the decor and ambience, menu choice and the quality and flavour of the food. It is coming on leaps and bounds with a new additional menu to the a la carte and also takes hi life card. We have been coming here over the past few years and we have never had a bad experience. We are always looked after and it is even remembered what our usual fave meals are. Couldn't recommend it enough. Our only regret is that we cannot go at least once a week! Roll on the end of the recession. Go there you'll find a new addiction

beware if you are gluten intolerant! Having rung prior to visiting the smiths arms on monday 15th nov,to ask if they catered for a gluten free diet,i was assured that it was not a problem.Yet on the night, there was hardly anything on the menu that was gluten free. When i asked for various items i was told sorry they contain flour.I had to settle for chicken curry and rice which was brought to the table with guess what????? only a naan bread!.What a dangerous place for somebody with food intolerances to eat.

I haven't chosen to recommend Checco's. The staff were patronising and condescending, for what is little more than a Pizza Express in what feels like a cheaply decorated community centre. My main gripe against Checco's, was the focaccia bread fiasco. I ordered tomato focaccia bread, the waiter brought me garlic bread with tomato sauce on it, I asked the waiter if he'd brought me garlic bread with tomato sauce on it, he told me yes he had, so I pointed out that I had ordered the focaccia bread. He replaced my garlic bread with another garlic bread, this time I asked if it was focaccia bread, and he patted me on the back and told me it was. The garlic bread happened to be more expensive, so thumbs up in the long run. But being treated like a idiot is not going to win repeat customers or a positive review.

4 of us went to east z east on a saturday night. very busy when we arrived 2 large parties in, we were shown straight to our table, drinks order taken straight away. our poppadoms/ starters were delivered swiftly and were delicious and it all looked very promising. However the mains were disappointing, bland, tasteless, the naan breads were very dry. Plus poorly presented. The service was slightly over the top too. We must have been asked at least 3 times by different waiters during each course if the food was ok , and it got a little annoying to be disturbed so many times when you are trying to eat. Once we had finished our food we planned to sit at our table a little longer to finish the bottle of wine. we were asked to go through to the bar to free up the table. fair enough we thought they were busy, but it was now after 10pm. 20 minutes later i had to walk back through the restaurant to the toilet only to find at least 10 empty tables so was struggling to understand why we had been moved back to the bar so quickly? I have heard good reviews about this place so am disappointed it didn't live up to them. I will probably stick to the Indian nearer home instead.

After a day walking in the Trough we enjoyed a nice meal in here. The service was extremely professional, which was a surprise for a country pub. We were also allowed to take our dog in too.

I had a meal at Trattoria San Marco , the food was excellent. The restaurant was really bright and had lots of natural light. This is easily one of the best Italian restaurants within the north west. Keep it up!

My wife and I from Oregon U.S.A. are in town to visit our cousins in Walton-le-Dale. The food was great. I had salmon that was worth coming from Oregon to eat. Please stop by and have some food. Ken Murphy

I had lunch with a business colleague on Friday 24th September 2010. The 2 course offer of £10.90 is excellent value for money. The quality of the food was amazing and service matched. The atmosphere was great as well with a few Birthday celebrations in for lunch as well. I will definitely be returning!
