Tottos – Preston
Preston in Lancashire is a cosmopolitan city located on the River Ribble and is also the home of the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN). Many restaurants and food pubs can be found in the city centre and its suburbs.
The food was tasty, not too expensive and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Tottos – PrestonMy husband, 5 year old son and I had lunch here this Sunday. Absolutely stunning. Excellent friendly service, sublime food, lovely surroundings. The beef stew and dumplings my husband had was excellent and full of flavour. I had the ham hock with lancashire cheese mash and mustard sauce - I can honestly say each mouthful was better than the last. It was amazing!!! Our son had the cheese and tomato tart from the children's menu - he loved it. The children's menu is far better than your average pub. Treating children like small adults with good appetites and a taste for interesting food. Great value too!! The only disappointment was that we did not have time to stay for pudding - I was particularly looking forward to the warm frangipan - oh well maybe next time!! We'll most definitely be back.
The Continental – PrestonVisited the New Continental for Sunday lunch. It had been featured the night before in the LEP. We arrived about 1.40 to find the pub quite busy with a few remaining tables. The pubs new decor is very pleasing and modern. We got our drinks at the bar and found a table. There seemed to be only 3 people waiting on and two behind the bar. It took about 10 mins for someone to come to our table after I had been back to the bar to enquire if we placed orders there but was told someone would come to us. After some time a waiter took our order of the chicken in Garstang blue cheese sauce for my husband and I ordered the lamb cutlets on hotpot potatoes. 25 minutes later the waiter came over and apologised for the delay due to some catastrophe in the kitchen and said it wouldn't be long. Another 25 minutes later we finally got our meals and I cheekily asked for free sweets because of the 50 minute delay, and to be fair the waiter agreed. My husband declared his chicken, which came with mash, very good. However, my hotpot potatoes were decidedly on the tepid side and the lamb cutlets had been fried separately as opposed to being done with the potatoes, which personally I would have preferred. Both dishes would have been better with included veg but a dish of mixed veg would have been an extra £2.50. I dared not have my meal returned to the kitchen for fear of having to wait another 20 minutes for it to be heated up! I did point this out to the waiter when he returned for our plates though. Having ordered our free sweets, we actually got those about 15 mins later. Hubby had the strawberry baked cheesecake which he enjoyed but said was a little heavy and I had the chocolate brownie which was fab but I could have done with a little pot of the chocolate sauce which was only drizzled around the plate, as this was gorgeous - a really scrummy sweet and a must for chocolate lovers! The bill came to £24.70 which included 2 pints of fosters and a half of the strawberry draught beer which was quite expensive at £2.10 for half, but was very nice for a change. We will return to the New Conti and hopefully wont have to wait as long for our meals!
The Continental – PrestonGo to the Italian orchard for all special events new year, birthdays etc never had a bad meal always excellent and will be visiting again very soon.
Italian Orchard – PrestonI have been to Porcinis a number of times but last night was amazing. The new chef only started yesterday but has made a huge difference. Porcinis has gone from great to fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone. PS. It is open for lunch during the week too!
Porcinis – PrestonI have just organized a surprise 40th birthday party for my husband in Tino's Function Room - it was fantastic! The Staff were brilliant (even at keeping the secret!) the buffet food was amazing - everyone at the party commented on how nice it was, and Mr and Mrs Tino really made it a special occasion - the function room is beautifully decorated and we were able to add our own party theme to it - i would highly recommend this restaurant/function room for a party.
Tinos – PrestonA WARM RECEPTION,ALWAYS TREATED LIKE A LIFE LONG FRIEND, STYLISH AND CLEAN RESTAURANT, CHILD FRIENDLY, FOOD TO DIE FOR AND ALL AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE. THE BEST ITALIAN IN THE PRESTON AREA.
Don Alberto Ristorante Italiano – PrestonHad a fab meal at Continental south meadow lane Preston. Desserts were so beautiful didn't want to eat it, glad i did twas divine, great to have a lovely pub to visit in what must be one of best locations in county
The Continental – Prestonthis was one of the worst meals me and my family have ever tried ,truly awful and the food was overpriced . do not go here it is RUBBISH .They should have paid me to eat there food.
Slice Of Sicily – PrestonVery surprising. The staff excel [generally] at being there without hovering, food is high quality - none of your brown sloppy Indian food here. This is where i take my friends and family when they visit - highly recommended.
King Karai – PrestonWe've been twice since the restaurant opened this summer - excellent both times. The menu has everything you would expect plus some specialities and the food has a fresh - and freshly cooked - flavour you don't find everywhere. Service is impeccable - well organised and attentive without being overbearing. All in all well worth recommending.
The Shampan – PrestonTop restaurant, Excellent food, very good service, what more can you want
The Shampan – PrestonVisited the Conti on the opening day and I have to say, what a great job they have done on the place. The food was great, from the freshness and quality of the ingredients, to the presentation and variety on the menu. Will definitely come back and be bringing my friends.
The Continental – PrestonWent on Saturday to a new concept that was a first of its kind at Pond a Spanish night, I must admit I wasn't sure as a lot of people try these "themed" nights and they are not very good, Pond however was fantastic, the music superb, the food good, the atmosphere was really lively and we all said we will definitely go back, it just goes to show that the people who own Duk restaurant ( same owners as Pond) really do know their stuff and always seem to know what their customers really want, I just hope that they have another soon its a great venue and i wish them every success, they also had a guy serving Urquell, if my memory serves me correctly it was a Czech beer, delicious, go try it you'll have a great time, apparently they have just started lunch offers, we will definitely be first i the queue .
Duk-Pond – PrestonWent today on opening day - fantastic food, atmosphere, drink, and garden. Can't wait to go back!!
The Continental – PrestonWe've been going here for years. The menu has never changed, but neither has the quality of the food and service which are both excellent. No pressure from the staff, just nice n'easy in this family run business, where you can sit down in traditional surroundings and relax. Take your own drink as it isn't licensed so you won't be ripped off for cheap wine at high prices. If you go in winter you get the roaring fires as well !! Excellent value for money and the homemade blackcurrant tart for dessert should not be missed. Five courses plus coffee for £15 (July 2008) ... what more can you want ? Nothing fancy, just good tasty food and you wont leave hungry !
The Cottage 1771 – PrestonOur 2nd visit to Pond last Friday evening with brother and sister in law. The place was buzzing and most tables were taken. We chose to have the banquet, which starts at £16 each, but we opted for £20 each. This was a selection of chef's choice brought to our table, starting with bread with various toppings, cheese, mushroom, chili, tomato, all very tasty. Followed by two types of potatoes, bravas and garlic, a pancetta salad, chicken wrapped in parma ham, fillet steak in onions and mushroom and the sweetest cherry tomatoes, topped with a buttery spinach, sea bass with mushrooms. We then asked if there was anything else to come and the waiter asked what we would like. He then suggested a dessert of chocolate dipping sauce with strawberries and raspberries and the most delicious chocolate cake, lovely! With two pints of Peroni, a white wine and soda, the bill came to £105. The meal was very enjoyable, however, we did wonder if we would have got the same amount of food for £16 a head as we did for £20? Still, along with DUK, Pond is still one of my favourite eating places and we will definitely be going again.
Duk-Pond – PrestonMyself and my friend and her parents arrived at the Italian Orchard, 5 minutes prior to opening, blissfully unaware of what time it opened and went to enquire the opening time and were told it was 6pm. We stood outside waiting as the gentleman who told us what time they opened went back inside and locked the door. We waited until 6pm and there was still no sign of the restaurant opening and no sign of anybody inside. Then a man appeared and we looked at him expectantly and he just shook his head and said one minute, by this time there was thunder rumbling and the rain had started. No attempts what so ever were made to open the doors and offer us a seat in the reception area so we retreated to the car to find another restaurant along with another couple who to were sick of waiting. We tried ringing the restaurant directly to complain, but this was to no avail! Seriously poor customer service.
