I hadn’t been to the Golden Goose in some time, and I’d heard mixed views in the years since so hadn’t rushed back, but my better-half convinced me to give it a try. I booked a table (very early evening) and, upon arrival, we were told “You’re in the bar area - sit anywhere you like in there”. Hmmm… “So what was the point in us booking!?” I enquired? Frustrating. We turned around and left promptly. We managed to get a table at the Barley Mow in Studley and had no issues there. Really poor, especially when so many tables were empty anyway… AND WE’D BOOKED!

Food was great so would highly reccomend on that but being told multiple times how long we have left at the table is a bit annoying. Also music was too loud could hear each other talk.

Came with my family yesterday, carvery was so lovely we all enjoyed it, staff were really friendly too, will definitely be back.

Food was lovely but there was a member of staff that was repeatedly rude and stroppy because of errors on their end yet not once did he apologise.

Excellent food… pleasant carvery server and happy staff working well together . This was our second time after popping in on evening last month and we are glad we booked this time. See you again… very soon

Well, once again we’ve been for the carvery and once again it’s been perfect. Thanks to all the staff and chefs for delivering superb food as well as excellent service.

Food was lukewarm and meat was very chewy. Had I been the one paying I would have complained but didn’t like to as I was a guest. Staff were really friendly and efficient plus the restaurant was busy but not too over crowded.

The service was lovely. The food was acceptable…meat was overcooked, stuffing was dry, mash was like dough, gravy was tasteless and cold. Overall it was an average pub experience

Well service fine when I changed to something else and paid £15pound for fish and chips the fish was so small I couldn't believe it pay less in fish shop

Booked a Sunday Carvery meal at 7.00pm. Really good time to book as it was not too crowded especially as the weather was very warm and sunny. Had a wonderful carvery meal. Loved the amount of vegetables offered and the good amount of meat. I also feel that offering gluten free is very unusual but essential with an increasing number of diners requiring that. The staff on the carvery were lovely and friendly as well as efficient. Thank you all the staff at the Goose and looking forward to another visit very soon.

Excellent carvery as always yesterday. I had pork and beef and my daughter turkey and beef. All our meat was tasty and tender with usual excellent variety of vegetables all beautifully cooked. Our meals there have always been delicious and cannot fault them. Service generally was excellent too.
