The Left Bank – GlasgowLovely place with relaxed cosy atmosphere and absolutely delicious food! Every dish ordered was so tasty and just beautiful. Stuff very helpful and attending but not that into your face way ;) highly recommend!
Cafe Fish – Argyll and ButeI booked a table of 7 hungry hillwalkers on a Saturday evening to round off our weekend in style. From the moment we entered the restaurant I knew I had made a great choice. We were made very welcome by the staff who looked after us very well. The restaurant was busy but not overcrowded and the ambience was great but not too noisy (apart from us!). The food was fantastic. With booking for 7 people I worried that one of our party may have not enjoyed it but I need not have worried. Every single dish from starter to dessert, including wine was superb and cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were generous, the food high quality and overall great value for money. All said it was one of the best restaurants they had been to in a long time. Hats off to the chef and all the staff for making it such an enjoyable evening and an end to our time on the wonderful island of Mull. Chapeau !
Cafe Fish – Argyll and ButeWonderful - thank you
Cafe Fish – Argyll and ButeWe had a most enjoyable lunch at the Golden Lion Hotel yesterday Good selection of food very friendly staff Will definitely come back next time I’m is Stirling
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingWe booked a table for 3 on Wednesday early evening. We were attracted by the half price main meal promotion. The restaurant was fairly quiet with a couple of 2 seats and one large table of 8 or 10. I believe there was also the final group of a funeral party in the bar. We were served by a young girl and we ordered drinks first, 2 medium glasses of white wine and one zero alcohol beer .We then ordered 2 scampi and 1 enchiladas We were served our drinks and chatted for some time ,becoming very aware that nobody was being served their food orders. I can't say exact howlong we actually waited but it was well over 30 minutes. Nobody approached to acknowledge the delay. We were actually served before the large table who had arrived before us! The scampi was cooked " beyond" golden . It was overcooked. It was edible but disappointing . The enchiladas were good. When the bill arrived there was no reduction for half price Wednesday and we had also been charged for large glasses of wine! I went to the restaurant bar to query the bill. The half price was removed from the food bill but I was told we had drunk the wine and it had been a large glass. I questioned how we were supposed to know the measure of a drink in a glass with no measurements on the glass. The lady then went on to demonstrate the measures in each type of glass . I was made to feel that being served the wrong measure was my fault not that of the person who took the order or the older lady who had poured the measure. After some discussion I was told that the manager would have to authorise my payment for what I had actually ordered as opposed to what I had been served. There was no apology. It really was not the best experience.
Ravelston House – EdinburghGreat food, very friendly staff and fantastic service as always. Lovely little place and atmosphere
The Left Bank – GlasgowWe loved the restaurant because of the ambience, the service, the range and quality of food. We are returning this evening.
Cafe Fish – Argyll and ButeGreat atmosphere and the staff went above and beyond to make our celebrations special. Food was spot on and good value too thank you !
The Left Bank – GlasgowWe were celebrating a family birthday and we couldn't have picked a nicer restaurant for the occasion. The food was delicious, loved the steak pie. Good value for money, too! Only five of us but we spent a good part of the afternoon eating and drinking right there! Lovely!
Ravelston House – EdinburghI had a salad which consisted of half a packet of mixed leaves from any supermarket, 2 slices of cold meat , ham, quartered , that was it, I complained and was told there was a dressing on it and they added a spoonful of coleslaw. I took 4 friends with me who didn’t enjoy their meal either, one has steak pie with cold potatoes and another had “white “ macaroni cheese. Mine was a smaller portion with a cream tea, scones and cakes were ok. The meal was £23 with 2 drinks which came to £35 each. I will never be back, the standards have indeed slipped since the last time I was there. No one came to our table to address the situation which beggars belief since I am being asked to comment on my experience . The waitresses were lovely though. Date 18.10.25
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingCame for lunch 18th October, bit disappointed as chips and veg were cold , also got 2 coffees advertised Brodies , definitely wasn’t that , don’t know what it was but not nice , overall disappointing
Ravelston House – EdinburghCafe Fish is the understated but over delivers jewel of the Tobermory culinary scene. Delicious food, friendly staff and great views.
Cafe Fish – Argyll and ButeWe were installed in a cosy window corner and invited to an unexpected glass of champagne as it was my husband's 70 th birthday and then arrived the fattest lobster we have ever seen, it was perfectly cooked with garlic but the seasoning did not win over the taste of the lobster. Also ordered 1/2 a portion of mussels in white wine. More than enough for two and then finished the celebration with a sumptuous Pavlova dessert.
Cafe Fish – Argyll and ButeHusband and I had THE MOST enjoyable meal at Cafe Fish last night. From the moment we walked in I knew it was going to be something special! We both enjoyed scallops to start which were sublime to say the least. The mains of fish stew and fish stroganoff were absolutely one of the best meals I've had! Service and ambience was excellent...if I could rate everything 10 out of 5 I would. We'll be back!
Cafe Fish – Argyll and ButeFantastic food, clean, basic decor but fun, lively atmosphere. Excellent service. Fresh seafood served with good grace. No surprise that it is hard to get a reservation, even mid week in October.
