The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingBooked a table yesterday evening. Really nice meal and service. Are waitress Susan was very professional and friendly.
Ravelston House – EdinburghThe service was lovely, it was fast and lady was lovely who served our food and drinks. The food was lovely and fresh, good sized portions and good deal on the food for November. The atmosphere was a bit dull, could do with the room being brighter and more welcoming like the bar area.
Ravelston House – EdinburghFirst time at The Golden Lion for a meal. Super dining experience, lovely food and very welcoming staff. Really set our night out off to a great start. Great atmosphere too, will definitely be back!
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingBeen eating at Cafe Fish for over 12 years and it never gets old. Some of the best seafood I have eaten with good service and helpful staff. I fish myself and so know fresh well cooked fish - they do it well. Always a pilgrimage on our visits to Mull.
Cafe Fish – Argyll and ButeWent for High Tea on Sunday afternoon. Has been redecorated since we were last there, giving it a smarter appearance. Service was friendly and very good. Food was very tasty. Sadly we were the only couple in at the time, hopefully this was the lull before Christmas rush.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingSomehow, we seem to have been 5 times this season. The food has been excellent each time. But what has been really outstanding this year has been the staff team. They seem to enjoy going to work and that gives a great buzz!
Cafe Fish – Argyll and ButeGreat food, the sticky toffee pudding was amazing. Got the impression the waitress didn't want to be there.
Ravelston House – EdinburghBrunch on a Sunday morning. First time, nice place, good food, good service, good price, that’s all I’m looking for. It’s also dog friendly if that’s important. Will be back.
The Left Bank – GlasgowWe had a nice meal on Wed 22nd 0ct, we had a wait of about 30mins for our main meal but this is expected. I ordered Chinese curry which was nice but to get 3 prawn crackers was a bit mean,The servers could be a little more pleasant. All in all good value for the half price Wednesday.
Ravelston House – EdinburghMyself and my friend had a lovely meal on Sat evening before we went to a show in the Albert hall. Staff is very friendly Atmosphere good.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingWe arrived for food at 7.30pm, for a group of four people. 3 people had a starter and it was about a 30 min wait until the main course. So 1 member of the group never got food until 8.40pm. Steak was full of fat so half was unedable. It was also presented without the mushrooms and tomatoes. So only had half a meal. And at £28.95 this was a very expensive option. Lasagne-the mince was not cooked properly, it looked raw. A half portion of fish and chips was huge. We did have to highlight the issues with the restaurant manager , and they were apologetic and gave us 50% off our main meals. But we will not return as there has been a few people that we all know that have had the same kind of experience when dining here. It is such a shame because the last time I dined here with a different group of people the food was lovely. This was a couple of years ago now. So do not know what has happened to the establishment within this timeframe.
Ravelston House – EdinburghHad such a lovely night at the West Bank. Food delicious and service great. Staff so nice. Took our dogs too and they were made very welcome.
The Left Bank – GlasgowLovely place with relaxed cosy atmosphere and absolutely delicious food! Every dish ordered was so tasty and just beautiful. Stuff very helpful and attending but not that into your face way ;) highly recommend!
Cafe Fish – Argyll and ButeI booked a table of 7 hungry hillwalkers on a Saturday evening to round off our weekend in style. From the moment we entered the restaurant I knew I had made a great choice. We were made very welcome by the staff who looked after us very well. The restaurant was busy but not overcrowded and the ambience was great but not too noisy (apart from us!). The food was fantastic. With booking for 7 people I worried that one of our party may have not enjoyed it but I need not have worried. Every single dish from starter to dessert, including wine was superb and cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were generous, the food high quality and overall great value for money. All said it was one of the best restaurants they had been to in a long time. Hats off to the chef and all the staff for making it such an enjoyable evening and an end to our time on the wonderful island of Mull. Chapeau !
Cafe Fish – Argyll and ButeWonderful - thank you
Cafe Fish – Argyll and ButeWe had a most enjoyable lunch at the Golden Lion Hotel yesterday Good selection of food very friendly staff Will definitely come back next time I’m is Stirling
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingWe booked a table for 3 on Wednesday early evening. We were attracted by the half price main meal promotion. The restaurant was fairly quiet with a couple of 2 seats and one large table of 8 or 10. I believe there was also the final group of a funeral party in the bar. We were served by a young girl and we ordered drinks first, 2 medium glasses of white wine and one zero alcohol beer .We then ordered 2 scampi and 1 enchiladas We were served our drinks and chatted for some time ,becoming very aware that nobody was being served their food orders. I can't say exact howlong we actually waited but it was well over 30 minutes. Nobody approached to acknowledge the delay. We were actually served before the large table who had arrived before us! The scampi was cooked " beyond" golden . It was overcooked. It was edible but disappointing . The enchiladas were good. When the bill arrived there was no reduction for half price Wednesday and we had also been charged for large glasses of wine! I went to the restaurant bar to query the bill. The half price was removed from the food bill but I was told we had drunk the wine and it had been a large glass. I questioned how we were supposed to know the measure of a drink in a glass with no measurements on the glass. The lady then went on to demonstrate the measures in each type of glass . I was made to feel that being served the wrong measure was my fault not that of the person who took the order or the older lady who had poured the measure. After some discussion I was told that the manager would have to authorise my payment for what I had actually ordered as opposed to what I had been served. There was no apology. It really was not the best experience.
