Steak and Cherry – GlasgowHad our dinner last night, been a few times now when visiting the city. Food is excellent and very reasonably priced and the cocktails are delicious. Would definitely recommend. Staff are friendly and courteous.
Steak and Cherry – GlasgowFantastic food, friendly staff, highly recommended.
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsThe food was good. Was disappointed with the waiting times for clearing plates and the next course. Limited choice of soft drinks (2). Would like to have seen a choice of non alcoholic drinks, maybe a beer or cider. Found the staff friendly and as I said the food was good when we got it. The restaurant was quite cold, we were sat at the door to the kitchen which was quite annoying with people going to the toilet and staff going back and forth.
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsExceptional standard of food. Every part of every dish was imaginative, full of exciting flavours and totally delicious. My meat loving husband adored the vegetables and other accompaniments. Best dinner out ever. Can’t wait to go back. Thank you.
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsA fabulous pre theatre meal. Always a warm welcome here on arrival and attentive waiters. The menu is perfect, we had an 8 year old with us and she loved the food too. I had a Bang Bang chicken burger, it was delicious. Reasonable prices too. Highly recommended
Steak and Cherry – GlasgowFriday lunch with friends for my birthday. We go there a lot and the food never disappoints and is great value for money. They were very short staffed but the staff who were there worked their socks off to keep things running as smoothly as possible.. Only little negative point was it was a miserable cold wet day outside and the restaurant was cold.
Ravelston House – EdinburghEvery aspect of The Hamnavoe is fantastic. The staff are very welcoming, attentive and helpful without being intrusive. The menu combines local food with very interesting flavours, we found it hard to decide. The food is presented elegantly on beautiful tableware. I mentioned in my booking that we were coming to celebrate a birthday and this wasn't forgotten by the staff which was an extra special touch. We will definitely be back and look forward to introducing friends to The Hamnavoe.
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsThis was my second visit to Nonsuch, fantastic great food, views are fantastic family friendly, we are coming back for a Christmas Lunch with friends. We loved it
Nonsuch Lounge and Sports BarThe food was delicious, staff very friendly and professional. Lovely atmosphere. Only one small criticism would be only a choice of 2 puddings. Delicious puddings nonetheless. Would highly recommend to anyone reading this.
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsMy wife and I had a fantastic meal when we visited on Saturday. It was a first time but certainly won’t be our last. The quality local produce has been presented perfectly with a Korean twist by the chef and his team. You won’t get food anywhere else in Orkney like it - a true gem. The staff were also very friendly and attentive throughout - even though it was a busy evening! We honestly couldn’t recommend highly enough… can’t wait to try the Sunday roast!
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsEvery aspect was superb. Once again we blown away by the food and service. Staff night out for a group of 6 and high praises from every member of our group. We will definitely be back soon again.
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsWe first visited this restaurant over 30 years ago and it is wonderful that the current incarnation of the Hamnavoe Restaurant continues its record of excellence. The innovative cooking using local ingredients and creating a delicious fusion of Far Eastern and Western cooking, sets this establishment apart in Orkney. The wine list is also very imaginative with good examples in the main categories of wines than one would expect to find on a restaurant wine list. The inclusion of a very fine English sparkling wine from the Lewes vineyard in East Sussex was noted and very much enjoyed. The Fleurie also punched above its weight, and went well with the lamb, a sign of climate change and its effect on the harvesting of the Gamay grapes in hotter conditions in Beaujolais. I am delighted that my wife and I live only a ten minute walk away from this restaurant and look forward to visiting it again soon.
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsConvenient town centre location and comfortable restaurant area. Friendly and attentive service. Party of 3 all enjoyed their meal which was good value and nicely presented. Option of 1, 2 or 3 courses. Will be happy to return for lunch or evening menu.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingLovely birthday lunch with friends- lunch menu was good and reasonably priced
Ravelston House – EdinburghExcellent meal - could not fault any aspect of this meal in terms of quality and quantity it was delicious. Only "fault" was the house was in insistent we ordered all courses at the same time and paid in advance ("we want to cash up the Restaurant Till") which gave us a feeling of being rushed (it was only 07.30 and 2 other people dining), otherwise all good.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingHad an delicious ham salad here with friends on Sunday afternoon. Ham salad was not on the menu we wanted but we asked the waitress if it was possible to have this and she went and checked and came back and said we could. So 5 ham salads ordered and very much enjoyed. The staff were excellent and we were particularly impressed with the lovely smiling German waitress. She was such a lovely person and couldn’t do enough to help us. The rest of staff were very good too I must add. Looking forward to our next lunch date. Thank you all and complements to the chef(s).
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingSuperb food - the best fresh Orkney ingredients like lobster, scallops and beef, but inventively combined with Korean elements. I used to have to fly to Edinburgh to get food this interesting - delighted to have it on our doorstep in Stromness. If you're expecting classy surroundings to go with the fine dining this might not be for you - but for me the feeling of being in someone's living room is all part of the experience. Book well ahead - it's small and fills up quickly. And make sure you have the yuzucello with your dessert!
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and Shetlands2 courses for £16. Available Monday to Friday until 7pm.
