Great meal, lots of choice and cooked perfectly. Lovely place nicely decorated and staff friendly and helpful, a shame it was empty needs to be spoke of more to get more people to go there. Definitely be back
The Bull – ShrewsburyCraft and Jam sort your management out first and if your serious about running the bull and keeping it open then I suggest one of you get down and help the poor under paid staff you employ, who on a Saturday night giving drinks away just to keep diners happy while waiting literally hours for food and watching others walk off in disgust. Shocking way to run a business and you want to be ashamed. Please don’t blame covid as it was exactly the same before covid came along. The locals want the pub but are fast losing patience.
The Bull – ShrewsburyHi, we visited last night after hearing good reviews and the menu looks lovely. However unfortunately we arrived at 6.30 and there was not a single other customer in there. Also my partner wanted a couple of vodkas with his meal and there was none at all available. It was such a shame because it looks a lovely place but needs a stock of vodka and a bit of atmosphere! The barman was very apologetic and it wasn’t his fault at all.
The Bull – ShrewsburyWe had booked a table for 8 for 5.45 and all arrived on time. The food when it arrived was absolutely fine. But the problem was we had wait 50 minutes to receive it! We also I had to chase the staff to take our order for drinks and food, as they didn't ask us. At a guess they had some problems with staff this night, We would all have had puds and more drinks but time had moved on by the time we had eaten, and as we had young children we had to go as it was nearing 7.30 by this time. I really hope this was just a one off.
The Tilley Raven – Shrewsburygreat food, unfortunately the 2 hour wait for food ruined the night, this coupled with the server not knowing what was ordered made for a very poor experience - chips were out of a bag and not 'hand cut at the Bull' all in all we wont be going back in a hurry
The Bull – ShrewsburyVisited en route to Shrewsbury Folk Festival for a break in my elderly campervan. Nice welcoming, quite busy and comfortable pub, with friendly locals and staff. Well cooked, good value food. Sadly a lack of real ale due to a delivery problem. Wll call again on way way to SFF
The Bull – ShrewsburyReturning customer, love the Expresso Martini on tap and the good cold Guinness. The food is excellent and the mussels are a recurring hit. It's difficult to have all 3 courses because you are well fed with high class gastronomy! Well worth a visit. Book ahead to avoid disappointment!
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyWe had a superb roast pork meal on Sunday late afternoon. Absolutely delicious and excellent value for money. Staff friendly and efficient. Wish we lived closer - we would be there regularly!
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyBooked a table for two for Sunday lunch for midday . We're greeted by friendly staff who escorted us to the table and took our drinks order . Ordered two Sunday dinners then we waited for for 45 mins , meals were very tasty and everything well cooked. After we had finished we waited another 20 minutes for our plates to be taken and order pudding. We ordered pudding then waited another 30 minutes for them to arrive and again they were delicious. By this time the pub was busy but there were only two members of staff serving and they were clearly struggling. Can't fault the food just needs another member of staff to speed service and it would have been a better experience.
The Bull – ShrewsburyWe visited The Bull for the first time and really enjoyed it. There were plenty of choices on the menu and I decided on a curry dish. It came out well presented and it tasted delicious! The service was excellent and they made sure that we always had a drink and checked our meals were ok. We will definitely be visiting again soon!
The Bull – ShrewsburyI booked lunch for four of us and we all had a different meal. All of our meals were delicious! Plus served by lovely friendly staff. We will be back very soon. Thank you for a delightful lunch time.
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyVisited the Raven with family Friday after having a great meal and service with friend a few months back, but was very disappointed with the standard of service and quality of food. It took over an hour for our main course to arrive with no apology whilst other tables who arrived after us were served their starters in rapid speed. When our food arrived it was greasy and overcooked and the mushy peas dry. Considering the time we spent in the restaurant we were only asked if we would like a drink on arrival and not approached at any time even though our glasses were empty before our meal arrived.
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyHi We called in for lunch today 1pm table of 4 We totally understand Sunday’s are busy However waiting 1 hour 15 minutes for a Sunday roast is not very good for business No Yorkshire pudding on one dish. I also asked for mint sauce that came to the table after I had nearly finished the dish I paid for two kids 3 courses but left after the main I hope this can be addressed As we’ve never had a problem before Always been fantastic Thanks
The Bull – ShrewsburyYesterday we came for lunch with some family so a table of 4 at 1pm, the lamb shank meal was divine very moist a few more carrots would have been good is my only pick with this meal and the offer of gravy perhaps especially as at £19 it was one of the expensive meals on offer. The 3 other meals were great! The sticky toffee was a lovely pudding as was the choc orange tart and sorbet. Service wasn't bad, but we had to ask for someone to bring more drinks and a pudding menu.
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyStarter (garlic mushrooms / whitebait) was ok. Main meal - no steak and ale pie or hand cut chips, so ordered gammon and then steak with sweet potato fries. The gammon was ok, the steak was excellently cooked and the best part of the meal but was ruined due to burnt sweet potato fries. Really disappointed so skipped dessert and got something on the way home!
The Bull – ShrewsburyMy friend and I chose the Tilley Raven as a halfway meeting point for a bite to eat and catch up. I had not been there beforehand so didn't know what to expect. The staff were friendly and service was good. We agreed that the food we had was nice (I had rump steak cooked rare and my friend had the (slice) of steak pie which was tasty). It was a busy evening and most tables were occupied which is great to see on a Tuesday evening and after the last year, however as the room is open plan and with wooden floors it lends itself to being quite noisy especially if there's a large group celebrating at the next table! Maybe next time we meet we'll chose somewhere a wee bit quieter for a natter
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburySmall Plates: 3 for £16, 5 for £25.
