The food was excellent though the place looks a little dated.

Absolutely fantastic, would highly recommend, from the minute we walked through the door, they could not do enough for us, the service was absolutely brilliant, the staff could not do enough for us, we sat by the log fire, the food was beautiful… we could not fault 1 single thing, we will be back as soon as we can… 5 stars is really not enough. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Ate here last weekend as a group of 5 who were staying nearby. Service was very good and the staff were friendly and approachable. On the whole the food was very good although a little on the cool side for a couple of the group. Overall good value for money and an enjoyable evening

Kind welcome, for a solitary female venturing into a strange place. Dog-friendliness helped me feel relaxed, as I adore dogs. Food was fantastic, and the atmosphere meant the couple (with shih-tzu) that picked the table next to me became friends with me v quickly. Staff were efficient and very warm. Definitely recommend the Maypole!!

Excellent hot food, steak pie was beautiful , vegetables cooked perfectly and lovely chips. Fabulous crumble and custard, sticky toffee pudding with extra sauce was delicious

Good choice of food plus a selection of ‘specials’. Would recommend as food was good, generous portions and reasonably priced. Would have had dessert but no-one came to ask

Honestly the weirdest pub we’ve ever been to. Zero atmosphere, no music or background noise so you’re forced to listen to everyone around you eating and scraping their plates, food took forever to come out and then it was lukewarm, dry microwaved rubbish. Decor is dated and old fashioned. Just not good at all. It has such potential but it’s just naff with no atmosphere or character.

My husband and I had a lovely meal here, we both chose the Murphys Stew accompanied with new potatoes, mash and fresh vegetables, the steak melted in your mouth and tasted delicious, a generous portion that I couldn’t finish. The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. Thank you Gillian and Craig, we’ll be back soon.

Fabulous lunch had by all brilliant service , and desserts to die for . Generous portions will definitely be calling again .

Excellent honest pub food, plenty of choice, good quality, good value and a very fair portion size too. Would highly recommend.
