19-11-2011Just had a great brekkie in Caffe Roma, inexpensive and tasty, quality food and the mushrooms were the best.

Sorry but visited Hong Sing for the Early Bird Buffet and was extremely disappointed no atmosphere warning signs on the walls and poor quality food sadly I would not recommend this restaurant it felt like school dinners.

I am a regular customer of Hong Sing and I found out that they have changed some of the main courses and starters! It was a real improvement and it was really delicious! While I was having my meal we saw a wedding party in the function room where there were beautiful decorations put up. The atmosphere is great and I would definitely prefer Hong Sing rather than the other Chinese restaurants in St. Helens.

We booked a table for 9.15 Saturday night after reading rave reviews, what a disappointment, firstly it was like walking into a creche kids running around everywhere prams etc(plus screaming)....... handed a menu asked what drinks we would like, then when taking our order asked if we had booked a table, we sat down had our starter and main and my partner just put his knife and fork down and his plate was pulled away, food mediocre at best seemed more like a jar of sauce had been put on my chicken, so in at 9.15 out by 9.50 a world record, oh yes and the kids were still running around when we left........

Highly Recommend this excellent coffee shop owned by the brilliant owners of the previous Bella Roma. You need to visit this cafe and experience the freshly prepared food at INCREDIBLY competitive prices.

Long story short!! Don't go unless you want to wait for an hour and 20 minutes to be served without any apology once it finally arrived after complaining 3 times. A lot of other customers just left!! Very disappointing!!!

Ive visited the Colliers Arms for several years now and have never had a meal that has been anything but excellent. You wouldn't think that such first class food could be served in a little pub off the beaten track.... but it is!!!! Whilst recommendations are a great guide for others there's a part of me that wishes I'm not doing so. Id rather keep this little gem all to myself!!!!

My husband and I visited Chans for the first time on sat 7th may 2011 not knowing what to expect. We were seated in the long area and given menus and it wasn't long before Charlie Chan greeted us personally. He was so friendly and likeable we felt very welcome. We were taken to our table where our starters were waiting for us which was lovely. We found the food portions weren't huge but the quality was amazing. The siu mai starter was so meaty and fresh - better than I had had before. I chose the deep fried crispy shredded beef as a main and was pleasantly surprised when out came tender thick pieces of beef in a very light tempura batter - not at all greasy. My husband loved his special chow mien too. All in all a lovely evening with excellent food and we will be going back soon.

I visited the Game Bird on the 2/5/11 with a party of 13 to celebrate my daughters birthday. On arrival we were greeted and seated in a very professional manner by the staff in attendance. Unfortunately that's where the pleasure ended. On ordering the food my partners and my meal arrived in record time but it turned out to be another parties order which we were told by the what turned out to be the Duty Manager to accept the meal as ours. By the time we actually where given the go ahead to start the meal it was look warm to say the least. The rest of the party where given their meals some 45 minutes later. When I approached the Duty manager she advised they where having equipment problems with the kitchen. When i asked her why customers where not kept informed of the waiting time no explanation was forthcomming. As a first time visitor to The Game Bird I dont think myself or my good lady will be in a hurry to return. If I was to mark points out of 10 for The Game Bird unfortunatley they would come in at minus 2.
