Although I enjoyed my meal ... a bit disappointed that the starter I chose stating it was gluten free was not in fact gluten free (they said it was an error on the menu) so I had to choose something else ... then I proceeded to choose the Turkey dinner again didn't come with stuffing, pigs in blankets or Yorkshire Pudding so was disappointed in that as well because I know that these items are available in the shops ... however what I did eat was lovely. Maybe a rethink needed as charged the same price but with a few things missing from my plate!!
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingAmazing Christmas lunch 19/12/25 @ 2pm. We had 2 course set menu £19. -10/10
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingA nice warm atmosphere. Staff were efficient and courteous. Liked the piano player who warmed to the attention of a few children. Would have liked to have heard a couple of Christmas tunes seeing it was the last weekend before Christmas, maybe we missed them! But made a great evening meal rather than listening to popular music.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingLadies late pre theatre meal. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal etc. 4 of us has the Honey Garlic Sticky Chicken it was delicious so much so I have googled looking for a similar recipe. Making it this weekend. Thank you.xx
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingDear oh dear. Myself and a party of 9 went out for a Xmas meal on Friday 12th December. We pre ordered our meals via E mail as requested by hotel staff. However, on the night we were told that 4 of our party could not get the dessert they had ordered as they had ran out. This was 5.30 pm. ?? The majority of the Staff were sullen , uninterested , inattentive and disorganised. Very poor. The food was also average at best. I asked a staff member if someone could take a drinks order for the table and was told that I could order at the bar. (Sorry, I thought I was the paying customer. ) The restaurant was not busy and we were placed in a soul less area with an infernal piano continually playing. We had gone to the Hotel last Christmas and had a good time. Hence we re -booked. Needless to say, we won’t be back .
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingFantastic service and the festive lunch was great value! Food was excellent and the waiting staff couldn’t have been nicer. The restaurant was busy, which meant service was a bit slow. This wouldn’t normally be an issue but my mum had an optician’s appointment and the staff went above and beyond in slowing us to have dessert after she’d been to the opticians! Absolutely wonderful service - thank you!
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingGood location with a Scottish theme and feel. Food tasty served hot and fresh. Portions adequate.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingWe had a lovely lunch in Cronies Bar, we had difficulty in getting through on phone & email trying to book. Staff were very good & surroundings excellent. Would highly recommend.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingLovely setting, staff very friendly. I had fish and chips, whilst fish was very tasty, the fish and small portion of chips were cold as was the crumble I had for dessert. Expensive for a lunch.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingI’m afraid that our meal was disappointing and mediocre. The AC in the dining room blew out cold air throughout our visit despite the outside temperature being 4c on a cold November day. Although the plates were hot, the food was not , no complaint about the food itself. The service was slow. The meals for two of our party were brought but the other two had to wait 30 mins for theirs, in effect we ate separately, not what was intended for a family birthday lunch. Our order for teas & coffees got lost, we waited 30 mins for those & had to re-order. The serving staff were doing their best butI’m not encouraged to come back.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingBeen coming to golden lion for years. In for lunch yesterday and disappointed. Soup was luke warm and sandwiches were too big...preferred when quartered easier to eat, tuna also bland, ordered tuna and red onion but it was tuna with 2 large red onion rings on top.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingI found the service and food to be top notch
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingFirst time at The Golden Lion for a meal. Super dining experience, lovely food and very welcoming staff. Really set our night out off to a great start. Great atmosphere too, will definitely be back!
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingWent for High Tea on Sunday afternoon. Has been redecorated since we were last there, giving it a smarter appearance. Service was friendly and very good. Food was very tasty. Sadly we were the only couple in at the time, hopefully this was the lull before Christmas rush.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingMyself and my friend had a lovely meal on Sat evening before we went to a show in the Albert hall. Staff is very friendly Atmosphere good.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingWe had a most enjoyable lunch at the Golden Lion Hotel yesterday Good selection of food very friendly staff Will definitely come back next time I’m is Stirling
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingI had a salad which consisted of half a packet of mixed leaves from any supermarket, 2 slices of cold meat , ham, quartered , that was it, I complained and was told there was a dressing on it and they added a spoonful of coleslaw. I took 4 friends with me who didn’t enjoy their meal either, one has steak pie with cold potatoes and another had “white “ macaroni cheese. Mine was a smaller portion with a cream tea, scones and cakes were ok. The meal was £23 with 2 drinks which came to £35 each. I will never be back, the standards have indeed slipped since the last time I was there. No one came to our table to address the situation which beggars belief since I am being asked to comment on my experience . The waitresses were lovely though. Date 18.10.25
