Visited on Father’s Day and booked in at last minute. Food was great, pub was comfortable and service was good. If we are in the area again would definitely come back. Dog also enjoyed his special dinner as well.

The Golden Ball Inn – TelfordThe whole experience was not as I remember it to be. Part of pub is shut off. The was again not what it used to be. The sizzler wasn’t sizzling and tasted like they’d used a jar sauce.
The Golden Ball Inn – TelfordAmazing food Friendly staff Great meal out with me dad for Father’s Day Was a long wait for food but staff did let us know that that would be the case. Absolutely worth the wait though, and was glad as it let my food go down a bit even then I didn’t finish my portion but the staff kindly brought me a box out. We had the buffalo wings, teriyaki pig bites, reg mac and cheese and the mother clucker burger. The southern fried chicken on that was outstanding. Will definitely be back. 10/10
The Smokey Cow – TelfordBeing new to the area I thought I would try The Smokey Cow with my family, upon arrival we were informed there was a 30 minute delay due to waiting for another chef. Our table was booked for 2pm and it was 4:10 before we even started to eat. The food was nice but I think there should have been some sort of discount for the extremely long wait as this tainted our experience. By the time we ate we were all restless and just wanted to leave, hopefully just a one off as the food was nice.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordDelicious food but very slow service. Table booked for 13:30 and starters (nachos) brought to the table after just over an hour. Mains were a further half an hour so it had gone 15:00 when we eventually ate. Wouldn’t have minded if the waiting time had been mentioned or acknowledged.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordIts our local and used to eat there weekly when the menu was better, more pub grub! But I was very disappointed, not only with the choice of food but the quality. The chips were brown to burnt; the mash potato heated so that a tough inedible skin had formed; no pineapple for the gammon; pork not crisp as requested. Such a shame. The waitress worked her socks off, trying to serve over 25 people; more staff needed. Done tables waited over 45 mins for food.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordA real hidden gem within beckbury. Great food and great service we were early but staff gladly seated us. Price point is just right and quality of meats are second to none. If I could change anything I would have had maybe quiet music on in the background. Given it was 1;30 on a Saturday there were only 3 other tables and it felt slightly silent at points. Doesn't take away from the excellent all round service and food.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordNice choice of food, something for everyone. Friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Whe food arrived, very tasty and no real complaints. Some people were having pizzas that looked quite tasty
The Golden Ball Inn – TelfordThe service was excellent, very friendly and welcoming, the best Sunday dinner we've had from a pub ,the brisket was to die for.the atmosphere was great everyone was friendly we think it was great value for money would definitely go there again for food. Highly recommended.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordExcellent hospitality and tasty food. We ordered the sirloin steak and spicy beef pizza. Both delicious and I especially enjoyed the sweet potato fries. Good access to large car park at the back of the pub. We would definitely go there again.
The Golden Ball Inn – TelfordAmazing food, let down by awful service/waiting times. Note there were 5 tables seated inside when we arrived and no-one mentioned long wait times. We waited around 30 minutes to order food, before waiting a further 90 minutes for a burger, a hot dog and a children's meal. I understand waiting for fresh food but this really wasnt acceptable. Once the food eventually turned up it was dropped on our table with no apology for the wait or even a question if we wanted any sauces.. Manager seemed to want to get away as soon as possible. Another table also came in after we'd ordered and managed to order and receive food before us, which we struggled to understand. In the end, we went to the bar to request the children's ice cream to be made which took around 25 minutes for 2 scoops.. We ended up requesting the bill before the ice cream came as we'd waiting 2.5 hours at this point with an 11 month old. Raised this with the poor waitress (who was the only positive to the evening) who was run off her feet who did apologise and take a small figure off the bill, but sadly this doesnt cover the awful experience. Zero acknowledgement or apology from management. Felt that if the wait for food was going to be 90 minutes from order, this should have been mentioned on arrival. Reading reviews below, a 1.5-2hr wait is now the usual which urgently needs addressing. Have always liked the food but will not be returning again.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordHas a family meal Friday evening. Food was really good but what really stood out was the warm welcome, great atmosphere and friendliness of the staff and the customers also, including Bertie the white terrier we got to meet. Will definitely return again.
The Golden Ball Inn – TelfordBooked a table for me and the wife, was not dissatisfied at all, the food was great, and the barman was very welcoming, will definitely be back soon, keep up the good work guys!
The Smokey Cow – TelfordWe stayed at a nearby cottage and visited this delightful pub twice, the beer garden is lovely, it's in a really quaint location. The food was lovely, crispy beef. The 3 starters for £14 and puddings. Everything was delicious, the staff were really nice and it was great value for money Also dog friendly, which meant to us!
The Golden Ball Inn – TelfordWe have visited The golden Ball several times in the last eighteen months and have always loved it. Great old pub atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff and great food. So last Sunday we took two good friends with us, to sample the pub. What a disappointment! It seemed you were short staffed, so service was pretty so, so. All with a smile and lots of apologies. But not what we had experienced in the past. Have you changed cooks or suppliers? Because the meal, when it arrived - was at best, average! The beef and roast ham were very tough. The battered cod was 'soggy' and quite small. We may have been interested in a desert. But we waited at least 20/30mins for the table to be cleared after our lunch, that none of us could be bothered and we left. What ever has happened in the kitchen recently, is not good. Our experience in the past has been big plates of tasty, well cooked food. Tender meat carved in the kitchen, served with tasty, hot sides. Something has gone wrong. Very disappointing.
The Golden Ball Inn – TelfordWe had a great lunch at the Golden Ball this Sunday. There were 3 of us plus a dog and we were well looked after, even the dog had a spcial meal provided ! As a vegetarian I often dread the limited options available, but although limited in choice the option was delicious. My companions had a traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings and pronounced it very tasty. Lovely attentive service from our waitress. Fair prices and a cool room inside on a very hot day was very welcome. Excellent.
