Went for family meal for daughters birthday, lovely pub, food excellent and wonderful service. I had beef and potato pie, meat was cooked to perfection. My only complaint would be that the menu had less choice at the lower price range than shown on on website, but there was more choice of pricier specials. But it was worth the money and all 5 of us enjoyed the meal we had.

We had been told that the good here was good so we decided to go. It certainly did not disappoint.. food was absolutely beautiful, well cooked, presentation good and taste was excellent (we had steaks and chicken burgers). A couple in the group had various starters which were also excellent …. Venue is really nice to.

We had a lovely family Sunday lunch in this unique pub run by Grizedale Arts. The locally sourced, home cooked food was enjoyed by all of us. We all agreed that the mix of original 16/17th century features combined with contemporary handmade furniture and artefacts works together well to create a very engaging interior. The staff are friendly and relaxed. Highly recommended.

Thought we'd try the Roast Dinner and very glad we did. Everything was beautifully done and tasted great. Crispy potatoes, huge Yorkshire pudding, well seasoned veg. The nut roast was also very tasty, not dry like some. We will definitely be back!

Excellent quality food - well presented and all freshly made on the premises. Friendly and attentive front of house staff., with everyone enjoying their meal. Fairly priced; reflecting the quality of food presented.

Took my dad out for his 91st birthday at lunch time today. He had the burger and I had fish and chips. They actually were not going to open until 5 but very kindly served us anyway. Food was very well cooked. Staff could not have been more attentive. I can’t wait to go back and try the roast . Good luck with the venture… oh and the lobster ravioli sounds lovely

Went at 5pm on a Sunday - husband had the 3 meat roast dinner and I the fish and chips. Food was sensational - absolutely gorgeous and cooked to an extremely high standard. Staff were lovely although a few service issues to iron out such as no cutlery on the tables, salt shaker was brought with no salt, drinks on the bills that weren’t ours but nothing major and all problems resolved immediately. Overall brilliant and would return!

We visited yesterday for Sunday lunch and were a table of 5x including a toddler. The pub has been refurbished to a high standard and was very clean and cosy - I didn't mark 5/5 as we were a table by the door and with it being so busy (which is good thing and positive to see) it kept getting left open and we were very cold. I know the pub well from over the years and will definitely request a table further in or by the fire as they have a lovely real fire which can be lit in the pub area. Service was a bit muddled and on the slow side but this was to be expected as they have been open literally a week. But when the food arrived it was sensational - the best roast I have had in this area in a long time! Also, all the staff and new owner were so friendly and welcoming and literally anything we asked for they would accomodate. We will all be returning regularly! I am so happy we have a local pub five minutes drive from Ulverston with such amazing quality food! Thanks to the chef and all the staff yesterday!

Decided to try this place after seeing their facebook page and it never disappointed. The pub was clean and the owners were very welcoming. The food was amazing and well worth the money and was good to see pub food with a little bit of class. I will be back and will recommend the place.

Went for a meal with my wife to celebrate our anniversary the food was delicious we met the chef Mrs Bea she was delightful the food was amazing just like traditional Thai food it is highly recommended

we had roast Vension and caseolet , both very tasty and not bad value for such good food. Staff very friendly .
