Amazing food and great service. Definitely recommend and we will be returning.

Despite several emails to the pub confirming my booking and providing a pre order, when my friends arrived they were told there was no booking or pre order received. They were given no cutlery and had to wait ten minutes for it, and were not asked if they wanted to order drinks. This shows an atrocious level of customer service in a venue which is being mis managed with faulty procedures in place.

Excellent food on a Thsi evening and good service. Only let down was the poor availability of alcohol free beer, was only 1 bottle in the whole pub!

Great meal out with friends at the Big Kings last night. Excellent food and excellent company! Bea’s Thai never fails to impress - big portions too (should probably have skipped the starter and just had a main). Delicious.

Food lovely. Very friendly atmosphere and staff. Would highly recommend. However, if it was a desert you were hoping for the chef had left before so couldn't have one.

Lovely roaring fire, friendly welcome on Saturday evening. The steak pie & mussels were delicious & big portions. Fish & Chips also delicious, but a few extra chips would have been great. Sticky toffee pudding was scrumptious. The young lad serving was really helpful

Food was excellent. 2 of us had the burger 3 had the Thai food. Very tasty. The service was slow and we had to ask at the bar to order. We would have stayed after the meal but the loud pointless music playing spoiled the atmosphere.

Disappointed. Booked for a Sunday roast. Menu states chicken, beef and pork offered. When we arrived, we were told there was no beef left and chicken wasn’t even an option. Reluctantly stayed (it was after 6pm and we couldn’t get a table anywhere else). One of us ordered the burger, which cost £15 and was literally a burger, some cheese a bun and a few fries. No lettuce, tomatoes, etc. Service was also poor. No one asked us if we wanted any sauces, or checked if our food was okay. It’s a shame - this is our local and we used to visit regularly. I’d like to say this is the first time this has happened. But unfortunately it has gone downhill in recent months.

Excellent food, good beer. Unfortunately we were the only people dining so atmosphere was missing. Waitress was good at serving but required training on wine list etc.

Sunday Lunch Really friendly pub. The most perfectly cooked pork I’ve ever had. Was absolutely delicious and the roast potatoes were light, crispy and extremely fluffy. All the veg was perfectly cooked and was so tasty. The lamb was beautiful too. Has to be the nicest roast we’ve had for a very long time. Highly recommended

Very friendly and welcoming staff and excellent food.

Down in Ulverston for the weekend. Group of 10 and over two days spent a lot of time at the General Burgoyne. Food, drink, atmosphere and staff were fantastic. Family of 10 ate here 2 days in a row and was absolutely brilliant. Catered for all dietary requirements and also some off the menu options. Highly recommend the General Gurgoyne

Had some really nice that food here. Pub and surroundings were quite rowdy but it was Saturday night. Young staff very friendly and great service. Not a place for a romantic meal for 2 but was a great and entertaining night out with friends

Popped in for tea. we weren't sure what to expect after reading some recent poor reviews. We can't fault it, the service was great the food was very tasty. We had to wait a little while for the food but that's to be expected when it is freshly cooked. As far as we are concerned the food was restaurant standard, not your usual pub fare. we'll definitely be going back.

Food was delicious We had Sunday roast. The roast potatoes really hit the spot. They were crispy outside and fluffy inside - absolutely gorgeous. The veg was really tasty and plentiful. Shame that there was no lamb left (we arrived just after 2) but both beef and pork were lovely (pork was my favourite) Highly recommended
