Bunkers Bistro – ConwyMay 2010. Found this pub in a popular pub guide book and thought we would give it a try on a Sunday evening. Very busy especially outside with plenty tables and chairs to sit at with lovely views some situated next to the sea. On entering the pub there is a family room on the left and main bar area on the right. Menu is relatively varied with a focus on fish dishes as you would expect. To eat we tried smoked mussels in a creamy sauce accompanied with chefs bread both nice, swordfish steak in peppercorn sauce (very peppery) which slightly overpowered the fish but still tasty, fish pie and fish & chips both dishes we were slightly disappointed with due to lack of seasoning/taste
The Ship Inn – AngleseyExcellent Greek food, including a wonderful choice of vegetarian dishes. Wine at a reasonable cost. A good central location for watching the world go by.
The Olive Branch Greek Taverna Coffee Shop – AberystwythDon't eat Here - never had food though, but a few pints - one night I arrived at the Ship Inn went into the bar area, and ask for a pint of lager - there was a very unpleasant SMELL orientating from the men's toilet which at the time I uncomfortable ignored - I however mentioned this to the barman (Not the Publican licence holder) that the smell was unbearable and if the new Licence - really need to make a go of their business venture they should resolve the issue of the stale urine smell . - Tonight - 24/02010 at around 10:30 I and another 5 of my friends went into the Ship Inn -We were unable to order any pints of larger - as they had run out (On a Saturday!!) but this was not the only problem I had - the barman had informed the licences of my comment - and the landlady BANNED ME! - Saying they were trying to make this business work and the only reason that their pub smelt of stale urine was because people like me urinated on the floor! Anyway I will not be going back there because, first - I'm now BANNED!! Second they have no pints of lager to sell and thirdly it really dose smell of stale urine. Recommendations for pub meals in Porthmadog as of 24/04/2010 are The Pencei, The Spooner's (Ffestiniog Railway), and the Sportsman (very nice but expensive).
The Ship Inn – Porthmadoggood food great staff, love there cheesy chips
Eateasy Restaurant – Colwyn BayFood beautiful always, unfortunately manager rude and unprofessional ALWAYS!!!
56 High Street Restaurant – MoldNice meal but nowhere near Chester or Cheshire, any chance of funding my taxi bill?
Misty Waters Country Lodge – MoldBest Italian i've ever been to. The Pasta and pizzas are out of this world. The high standard of cuisine is fantastic. Has an open kitchen so you can watch your food been cooked fresh before your eyes. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended to all Italian food lovers. enjoy
Rossini’s – RhylA good local Pub with an excellent chef of a high restaurant standard. The fish choices are always worth a try. Excellent choice of real ales and all the usual keg rubbish. Worth a major detour for food.
The Three Horseshoes – BreconHighly recommended dining. Excellent service and attention. Good selection of wines.
Rossini’s – RhylI can't believe there isn't any reviews for this restaurant yet so i HAVE to write! This was the first Indian restaurant I have ever been to, now over 4 years ago and it remains my favourite (visit atleast 4 times a year) and the one i always think of when one fancies a good quality Indian meal. You can't beat this restaurant. The staff are so friendly and helpful - they make you feel so comfortable and at home as soon as you walk through the door. The seating is a very nice arrangement, giving you your own privacy to eat your meal with your partner/party. Decor is fantastic, a lot better on the inside and has the right Eastern feel to it. Excellent menu, plenty to choose from, catering for everyone - mild-creamy to stupid-hot. It is not overpriced like some other quality Indian restaurants either. There is a the bonus of the bar area to go before/after your meal to relax in and the toilets are a pleasure to visit. The buffet is always good, with the good foods on offer, and so much to choose from you won't fit it all in. I simply love this restaurant, and am more than certain any other Indian food lovers will too!
Amantola Restaurant – Moldwe recently have had a house party, and called pizza pan to deliver our favourite food. We were surprised how quickly they delivered the food.We will recommended it any day!
Pizza Pan – PrestatynFood great but be advised that the owner takes the waiters tips and buys bottles of wine for customers who have had a long wait. Not fair is it?
Da Vinci’s Italiano Ristorante – MoldExcellent curry club on a Thursday, 5-9pm tried all 4 choices over last 4 weeks all excellent, home made, cask ale & real fire. Rooms if you want to stay, the breakfast is excellent as well.
The Crown Hotel – WrexhamProbably the worse place I have been too. The Manager had no manners and was very aggressive towards his customers. No wonder the pub was empty.. I would certainly not recommend it to anyone.
Glengower Hotel – Aberystwyththe best seafood ever and the meat dishes are not bad either this is in the top 5 seafood restaurants in the country trust me go and try it yourself a hidden gem
The Lobster Pot Seafood Restaurant – HolyheadA venue with a homely atmosphere and excellent food (reasonably priced). A wide range of wines were available.
Gales of Llangollen – LlangollenHaving been a regular visitor to Hereford for years, the one thing I have noticed is the lack of good quality food available for the people wanting to dine out there, we have family living in Hereford and like to eat out on occasions when we visit them. We live in Birmingham and so are spoilt for choice when choosing to eat out on one occasion that we chose to eat out in a pub near Hereford Racecourse, I had steak and ale pie, there was no gravy in the dried up pastry, and one piece of grisly meat that was supposed to be steak, the ham on one of the lunches looked similar to ham but was inedible because it was just a tasteless piece of rubbish. When visiting another pub about 20 past 2 in the afternoon, at a pub in Breadwardine, the first comment from the owner was that food was stopped being served at 2, but because there were several of us he would serve us, wow nice to be wanted, the menu consisted of about 6 items!!!!!! On a recent visit to our family, they said they had been for a meal at a local pub called the Kinnersley, after our experience of pub meals in the area we were a bit reluctant to dine out in Hereford again and particularly as we had my sister and her husband with us but we were all starving and needed sustenance so when seeing the sign for The Kinnersley we turned off, we were driving along the A438 so had to drive along a lane about 3quarters of a mile long, had we known we would have driven up to the A4112 and turned off at the sign for The Kinnersley, it was about 2 minutes off the A4112. On the 11th July 2009 we made our second visit to The Kinnersley in less than a month and again it was well worth the drive down from Birmingham. Being a child of the 1940’s I was well acquainted with rabbit meat so was interested to see in on the menu at The Kinnersley, the menu goes on forever, and is all good quality food, the service is next to none. Cant remember what the others in our group were eating because I was enjoying my meal too much, well I would have if people didn’t keep asking to taste my rabbit, all were impressed with this tasty lean meat. This pub really is a little gem that’s been hidden away a short distance off the A4112, if you drive along the A438 it’s the main road from Hereford to Kington, when you see the sign for Leominster turn right, along there about half a mile and you will see a black sign indicating where to turn off for The Kinnersley, I will guarantee after tasting the food there your visit will not be a one off visit. Also they have a great system of special deals, you go there at 5-30 you pay £5-50, you got there at 6-30 you pay £6-50, you go there at 7-30, you pay £7-50 and that’s for anything on the menu, and is available from Sunday till Thursday. Jim and Family of Bearwood.
