Aqua Food and Mood – WarwickPre-booked a table for 2 at 6.00pm after an afternoon shopping. Friendly welcome when we arrived and we were taken to a table next to a window on Jury Street side. We ordered drinks from the non-alcoholic selection which was fine. Not an automatic preference but we were aware of at the time of booking. Late afternoon sun made the table quite warm but the waiter was on hand & said "no problem" with opening it . Starters were a hummus with minced lamb on top and a spiced salmon, potato & onion dish which left a nice tingle on the lips. For mains, my wife ordered cubed lamb with salad. It should have rice but my wife asked if that could be replaced with more salad and again the response was " no problem. I had a slow roasted lamb shank with rice cooked in the lamb stock & a small garnish of salad. There were two small pots of sauce, one yoghurt based and one highly spiced - typical of middle east cuisine. The meat in both dishes was very tender . I had a dessert of condensed milk & cream inside 2 filo pastry "pancakes" and to end, a mint tea . With a bottle of water & the bottle of rose the total bill was £80 including the service charge. I had no issue with the charge as the service & attention to detail was very good.
Aqua Food and Mood – WarwickI can recommend that restaurant to everyone. Really nice and friendly service. Food delicious and portions are a good size. We enjoyed our meal recently.
Aqua Food and Mood – WarwickPleasantly surprised after going here about three years ago and being underwhelmed . We returned for the first time since then and found the staff exceptionally pleasant and attentive . The food was excellent and the ambience first class . We had a great night and are so pleased that we returned after such a long absence . We will be returning again soon . Well done !
Aqua Food and Mood – WarwickLovely food, drinks & atmosphere. Lovely choice of mocktails to accompany the food. Great service and lovely little environment. Looking forward to our next visit.
Aqua Food and Mood – WarwickGood service, friendly and good food and good value.
The Old Smithy – RugbyVery nice pup, staff very chatty and welcoming. Good portions nice food.
The Old Smithy – RugbyWent for dinner and a few drinks. The pints were great and well priced. The food was tasty and generously portioned. Had a spillage at one point and the owner was happy to help, was chatty and friendly throughout. Would definitely recommend.
The Old Smithy – RugbyService was really slow, took half hour for drinks order. When food arrived it was plain, overcooked and bland, even though my drinks and food was removed from the final bill it doesn’t make up for a poor experience. Wouldn’t be back in a hurry.
The Old Smithy – RugbyI think the food here is excellent as always, comfortable surroundings nice stuff.
The Old Smithy – RugbyReally lovely meal. Food was delicious and so fresh. We had the full mezza for 2. They swapped an item on the menu with no hesitation at all. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed. The waiter even asked if we wanted to move tables when a large, noisy group came in which was really considerate. We weren’t expecting a dry bar however I was driving anyway so it wasn’t an issue but I did have to ask if the mojotos really were alcohol free as they tasted so good! The gentleman who served us was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely return
Aqua Food and Mood – WarwickOut of 6 meals 3 had to go straight back to the kitchen, 1 over done steak and 2 burnt chicken dishes. They did give us some free drinks to compensate but it still ruined the meal a little. Staff were very apologetic and friendly so I can’t fault them! Although a bit disappointed I’d still go back as they handled it well and we’ve been plenty of times before and the foods been lovely.
The Old Smithy – RugbyGood food fast service and ice cold beer
The Old Smithy – RugbyFood was good, service was good. The only thing that could be improved is getting the hedge cut back as vision is obscured when leaving the car park and joining the main road. An accident waiting to happen
The Old Smithy – RugbyFood was very good served in good time by excellent staff.
The Old Smithy – RugbyThe food was nice. The new menu isn't as good. I had the king Henry but one about 18oz would be better. The old smithy could do with a good clean as it looks a bit grubby and still have the fly problem.
The Old Smithy – RugbyMy wife and I had the 2 steaks and a bottle of wine deal and I must say that it was the best steak we have ever had at The Smithy or any where else. The Doom Bar ws cloudy, don't know if it was the beginning or end of the barrel. Not a perfect pint but then, whats a bit of extra roughage. Excellent staff. Now my pet hate. I was bought up to follow the basic rules of social decorum. Can the Smithy please introduce a NO BASEBALL CAPS rule like a number of other establishments. In the time that I was there, there were 2 'examples' who were too ignorant to take theirs off dragging the ambiance of the place down. Both the staff and myself knew that if they asked to remove them, they would probably kick off. So nip it in the bud at the door. Contact John Carey at The Millpool for guidance. Apart from that, a really nice meal and time. Will be back.
