Excellent Mac'n'Cheese. Quick friendly service. Sad so few people in the pub but it was a Tuesday.

Perfect roast, lovely service. We came for a roast with my mother and family on Mother’s Day. I can’t fault your service from the week before when I was trying to book and was given solid advice, to the table service on the day. We were going to Harry Potter for the day so weren’t too sure on timescales. We thought we might be later than anticipated but ended up nearly an hour early. We were welcomed in the bar, and enjoyed a drink on the sofa whilst we waited for our table. Our roasts were impeccable, and with two chefs at the table, we’re not always happy! So thank you for making our mothersday meal special.

Food and drinks were amazing, as always! And we did the quiz for the first time which was so so much fun! X

What a wonderfully refreshing experience! Booked for my birthday and was instantly greeted by the lovely charming landlady who basically went out of her way to alert all the staff members that it was my birthday and spoil us rotten all night. Whilst the drinks flowed (Pornstar Martinis on tap top notch and Beavertown Neck Oil, Bierra Morettis, Malbecs), she served up a rather choolatey shot which was delicious! Crispy calamari for starters wow then main courses of bunny chow what flavours and biltong spiced ribeye, all tremendous. The rugby was on but not overbearing, the atmosphere for the occasion was spot on! All in all, a most memorable and wonderful night, the staff were amazing... and the dog loved it! Thank you Royal Oak, we'll be back for sure!!

Food and staff were lovely! Customer service was lovely and the food was homemade and 100% worth the menu, would definitely and would come again.

Consistently good food, service and atmosphere. We’ve never had anything but a fabulous meal here. Especially recommend Sunday lunch, it’s only second to the ones my mother makes at home.

Very tasty and food served in generous portions. Quick and discreet service. Just a tiny minus note on the seating allocation, we were quite close to the door on a windy and cold Sunday and we did not realise the main door lead directly to the dining area.

Superb food. Normally roast dinners are hit and miss when eating out but the Royal Oak kitchen has it spot on. Will definitely be back. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Love that it’s dog friendly too!

WOW! Had been told this pub was good but yesterday was our 1st visit. We were blessed with wonderful sunshine & blue sky & what a lovely place! Set back on the heath making The Royal Oak a truly beautiful spot. 4 of us sat outside making the most of the sun & had booked a table under the tent for 3 of us to eat. We booked ahead, booking service online was easy to use & confirmations & reminders received promptly. We went to the bar to purchase our 1st drink but not long after we were greeted at our table & table service was offered. Every single member of staff was friendly, chatty & just lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. We also brought along our 2 Spaniels who were fussed over & made to feel extremely welcome. All other drinkers & diners were so friendly, lots of dogs too who were equally as friendly. The food….especially the Sunday roasts were EPIC! 3 of us dined so the beef, lamb & pork were sampled & everything was just beautiful. Cooked to perfection, very generous portions & the gravy was simply proper. Having used the facilities which were extremely clean & smelled lovely; a walk through the bar & dining area inside was necessary & the decor is lovely. Very cozy atmosphere & some great little areas to chill out in. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much for a simply wonderful Sunday afternoon.

All 5 of us enjoyed our Sunday lunches. Food was delicious and very tasty; exactly as described on the Menu. The two of us who had the lamb would have preferred our very tasty gravy served separately, and it was odd to have the mint sauce swimming in it. Veg was as we like it, just enough crunch to the kale and the root veg and roast potatoes were perfect. Service was excellent and friendly. Our only criticism was the volume level of the music on arrival; it was quite loud, and people had to raise their voices to overcome it. This made the pub quite noisy. The volume was reduced during lunch, and it was much more comfortable. My neighbours are regular diners and recommended the PG to us, but they did warn us about the music; it is their only criticism. But, to put this in perspective, the quality of the food, the great service and friendly, welcoming staff more than made up for it.

The Royal Oak has always been a wonderful pub, but over the years has been allowed to go into disrepair by previous management.So a big thank you goes out to Lee And Sue for revitalising and breathing life back into the Royal Oak, after the male and female toilet refurbishment which is amazing it is now the perfect pub once again. Also must mention the food is amazing too, and the staff are all very attentive and polite.

Fantastic food! Would highly recommend eating here, lovely atmosphere and staff, never disappoints.

Not been for a while, went for Sunday lunch and went to the early sitting as split in to 2, which is something I agree with, but shame on those who book and do not turn up!! Nice local pub, service was good, although to the point where I thought they were concerned something was wrong, I guess just getting the balance of showing interest and doing it too much is difficult. This would not put me off recommending this pub! The portion sizes were very good, no complaints here, hot on serving, maybe too much gravy, would recommend serving this on the side rather that directly on the meal. Will definitely go back and highly recommend others going!

Perfect food and perfect service - can’t wait to go back. Even the cabbage was 10 outta 10 !!

A group of us had an enjoyable lunch in this S African themed pub. Their borewors beef and lamb sausages were tasty and hearty as was their spiced chicken with excellent double fried chips. One of us had a vegetable poties which is a kind of dumpling stew, again tasty. Clearly care was taken with cooking and presentation. Generous servings meant no room for dessert. Very pleasant staff made up for a certain lack of atmosphere. which was possibly due to there being few other people. It probably feels quite different at busier times. Only downside- restricted parking. A couple of us already plan a return lunch. Glad we tried it.

Went on Sunday with a friend I had pulled lamb roast dinner and it was delicious. Great service too!
