My husband and I were visiting friends in Wells last Saturday for the city literary festival. We booked a table at The olive tree for an early dinner at 6. My husband is a wheelchair user but from the minute we arrived the staff were genuinely friendly accommodating and helpful. We had two courses and were totally delighted by the quality of the food. The hake was particularly delicious and it was all presented really well. Aware that we had limited time due to the literary festival the staff were very efficient in serving our food so we could leave on time. We had a really wonderful meal and I would highly recommend the restaurant and look forward to returning

The full marks say it all. We have been eating Adam’s food for well over 18 years and it never fails to disappoint, his sauces make me do a finger sweep.

We have been privileged to enjoy Adam's exceptional culinary skill since he was chef at Charlton House. In all that time (over many, many visits) the standard of cooking has been consistently high. The accent is on taste, texture & the balance of flavours. We always feel so much better for eating here, in fact restored, which reflects the true meaning of the French word 'restaurant'. The service is excellent & the atmosphere in the new premises welcoming & comfortable. May not be the cheapest, but it represents exceptional value because we have dined at other similarly priced or even more expensive restaurants where the food is not nearly as good.

Good to have a first class restaurant in Wells. like to see more people and atmosphere would then be great.

Had a wonderful late lunch at The Olive Tree. The food was amazing and extremely tasty. We had the chicken and the pork followed by the chocolate and lemon desserts. Fabulous service, great hospitality and highly recommended. We will be back perhaps to sample the dinner menu as that looks delicious too!

Had a delicious 3 course meal at the Olive Tree on 20th October. Service and quality of the food was excellent, would definitely recommend and visit again when we are in Wells.

Interesting menu with a good range of choice. Beautifully presented and delicious dishes. Stone bass was splendid. Chocolate delice fabulous as was the tarte tatin. Picpoul de pinet wine was sublime.

We had a wonderful evening at The Olive Tree celebrating my mums birthday. The service was warm , accommodating, engaging and efficient , the food (menu choice, quality, presentation, value, flavours) excellent, the wine delicious, and atmosphere buzzing and vibrant but not too loud that we had to raise our voices - we will definitely come again and also recommend it to friends and family

The meal we had was excellent and we have booked to bring our best friends due to fact it was so good. The young man that served us on Thursday was excellent and very welcoming and informative sorry I did not ask his name.

Went for dinner in October. Menu was lovely using local ingredients and reflecting the season. Mushroom and stilton soup was delicious. Overall good food, good service, decent price.

The food here is always outstanding - we live nearby and have been several times. Fish is the speciality of the chef, Adam, with several different fish dishes on the menu - with saffron sauce, or sitting on a bed of red cabbage, for example, with crisp skin and flesh cooked just right. short, very well selected wine list and Renaud is a knowledgeable and helpful waiter. Only complaint - after a starter and main course it was hard to find room for thevdelicious desserts.

So glad that we booked this restaurant. We liked the menu and hoped that the food would live up to the reviews. IT DID! The scallops dish was exceptional and the terrine delicious. The chef certainly knows how to cook and present fish. We had both fish dishes and enjoyed every mouthful. Deserts were wonderful. The chocolate dish was so good and the tarte tartin according to my partner was perfection. We had a very warm welcome from the staff and service was excellent. We will certainly visit again .

Excellent food and very attentive staff

Really standout food at the Olive Tree - imaginative menu, beautifully cooked and attractively presented. We arrived early evening to find the restaurant empty but it filled rapidly - staff were slightly overwhelmed but delightful and doing their very best. Great value for the quality of food and level of cooking, altogether making for a very enjoyable evening.

If it was possible, I would give The Olive Tree 10 stars . We have just eaten in this fabulous little restaurant and I can’t believe how good it is. We ate scallops, duck breast, sea bass and lemon cheese cake. Every single item on the plate was an absolute delight and beautifully presented. The highlight of the meal for me was the lemon cheesecake, the best dessert I have ever eaten and I’ve eaten quite a few. The place looks wonderful, the staff/owners are super but the food is the star of the show. Amazing food, well priced and great service. A must visit if you are in Wells.

A lovely little restaurant in the heart of the city of Wells. We stayed in the Swan Hotel in Wells and thought we should try some of the local restaurants so on the first night, Saturday, we tried the Olive Tree. We were not disappointed, excellent and very well presented food and good attentive staff made for a lovely evening. A good well priced menu and wine list and a near perfect location in the centre of Wells. This restaurant is quite rightly popular so my recommendation especially at a weekend is to make sure you book. Thank you to the Cook & all the Staff at the Olive Tree for a lovely evening.
