we have been to cinnamon on many occasions as we live local.we has been slightly disappointed on our last few visits and regrettably re looking for new pastures.we have felt that the service has been lazidazy , having waiting 45 mins for our bill and asking 3 different staff, with no option in the end but to get up and go to the bar to pay.we visited the Sunday buffet to be disappointed at 2 starters and 3 currys , One mild , one med , one scorcher all meat. rice and mini nan ... we felt ripped off. popadoms were extra but we were not told. mr khan is lovely but i feel things have slipped somehow.

Our favourite pub/restaurant for several years. Love the old favourites: especially cod and chips and liver and bacon. Great range of other dishes and sweets. Nice choice of wines and beers. Friendly and efficient service. As usual a nice antidote to a rainy, grey day was a trip to the Rigbye Arms today. Pheasant and wild boar pie and chips...... nice....Tetley's cask .......nice......

Just had a really good lunch at The Beacon at Dalton. It is a Pub downstairs and a restaurant upstairs. We have been a few times before and in both parts the food is superb. Before we looked at the menu, we asked if they did beef curry. They had chicken curry on the menu but they immediately said there was no problem at all in changing it so we both had beef curry. Afterwards I had pear poached in Campari garnished with a raspberry juice and clotted cream and my husband had Parkin Cake with Mrs Dowson's ice cream, both were very well presented, as was the curry which came with rice, poppadoms and mango chutney. The price was very reasonable and service was very good. 10/10

My family have been eating Indian food for a good 20 years now and we like to have a good family restaurant to depend upon when all the siblings come home to Lancashire. After reading Internet reviews we decided to try it out and loved it. I've spent a couple of months in Goa and love cooking my own Indian food but there were dishes here I didn't know about - I had chicken tikka naga massalla and learned about naga chillies from Mr Khan. It was a great night - we all shared a bit of each others dishes which were all varied and each one superb. When you drive out to restaurants you expect them to be fairly pricey - this was very good value, starter + main + drinks (and a little education on indian food) for less than £25 per head.

I have eaten in the restaurant and had many take aways from Buraq. I could never complain about the quality of the food. As I am a particularly fussy about quality of food I don't have Indian food from anywhere else. At Buraq the food is full of flavour and superb. I may return this Christmas with my young family.

I have visited the The Owls At Standish by invitation to 2 larger parties, on 2 occasions, it is lovely and clean, the food is excellent and hot, the surrounding area is beautiful, there is plenty of space in the restaurant, there's no rush, the staff are friendly and helpful, I have recently booked it again for 6 people in October The prices are very reasonable, and its certainly the sort of eating out venue to put top of your list, I certainly will. There is a very good selection on the menu for all requirements. The management is very well organised and accurate.

I have been to the ashfield on a number of occasions over the past 5 years ,during my recent visit i noticed the place was looking a bit shabby and dated. The food was top class but the waitress service a touch careless for want of a better word.might try else were next time

Have been a customer at the Owls at Standish, for years, and on Friday 19th June 2009 visited with my 85 year old father and my wife.During the meal the waiter slipped and "threw" a full bowl of custard over the table,my shirt, tie and suit trousers, and i do mean a "full-bowl" !!He was apologetic, the incident was witnessed by various other customers and a table occupied by friends of my wife.No member of management came to the table to apologise, despite the lady who appeared to be in charge passing several times. As we paid the bill,we gave details of the incident,no offer of compensation was made/reduction in the bill. The reception/cashier summoned the lady who had walked past us several times, who in a very curt manner told us it "would come out",her complete lack of customer skills and arrogance was breathtaking, this had ruined the rest of our evening as we had to return home and change. No offer of a refund was made---so beware at the Owls of Standish, you pay for what the waiter spills over you, make sure its not an expensive dish!!

It is a nice place in a good setting, however, the food and the service was pretty bad, the chicken pie was slop in a bowl with a burnt top, you have to order at the front desk before you even get a table, worst dining experience i've ever had

Me and my boyfriend went on a Sunday evening to eat. We sat down and ordered our meals (Garlic Bread starter and 2 seafood paella starters to share), we waited 30 minutes for the garlic bread and one seafood paella came. We said we ordered two seafood paellas and waited a further 20 minutes for the other paella starter. When this arrived it had cold spots in it. This is SEAFOOD which came with hot and cold spots. We sent it back and asked for a refund, and said we would pay for what we ate. They tried charging us twice for the drinks, and also tried charging us for the meals we had not eaten. When challenged, they refunded the drinks and we paid for the garlic bread and 1 seafood paella, however this was after 3 attempts of challenging the receipt. I had food poisoning the night after eating some of the paella, i would never eat here again nor would i recommend this restaurant.

Great ambience a certainly a warm welcome from the friendly manageress and staff. This is a newly refurbished village pub which retains most of it's original features as befits a coaching house of it's period. The food was somewhat disappointing however, half an hour wait for very simple starters wasn't really worth it - given that they all arrived in stages making several of us wait before starting to eat. Then we found one of the dishes was partially frozen, luckily we had swapped it with my husbands fishcake otherwise my toddler would have eaten a frozen spring roll. The mains quickly followed but the steaks were so overcooked that they had shrunk and some dish ingredients had been confused with different meals. Decided to have dessert and coffee at home. I think it prudent to wait to eat there until the food service operation can be improved.
