My boyfriend and I ate here on Saturday 13th Feb 2010 for both our anniversary and valentines day. We had a 3 course meal with a bottle of wine. I have to say it was one of the best meals we have ever had. The service was excellent, the food sublime and the wine delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and would give it 10/10.

Brambles Coffee Bar – WindermereWe ( a party of 8) have just spent our 4th new years break here. Once again the staff have come up trumps. The New Years Eve meal was fabulous. The service was excellent and the ambience of the hotel still remains friendly and welcoming.. Its a great place to stay and even a better place to eat. Miss it miss out
The White House – WindermereWe always dined here when in lakes, but, I'm afraid things changed on our last visit. Very rude, ignorant member of staff - I can't believe someone would speak to a customer the way she did. Only reason we stayed was because everywhere else was full and I was very hungry. We ate upstairs - food brought on paper plates, plastic cutlery, and, my husbands chicken was full of ice!!! He would not let me complain as I was so annoyed he was worried I would really lose my temper. I know you cannot publish but please pass on my comments to the establishment.
Vinegar Jones – Windermeremy wife and i ate at this delightful restaurant 18 months ago and had a wonderful meal. since then we have talked about another trip to the lake district and, more importantly perhaps, another meal at The White House. Well, we were not disappointed. The service was very good, the staff very welcoming and the food was superb. Well worth the wait, and look forward to our next visit!! tess and col xx

Shahibs – WindermereVisited Jintana as a party of four (9 Oct 2009), we had not booked but was assured there would be a table in 5 mins. True to her word and as busy as they were 5 mins later we were warmly greeted and shown to the table. The food was absolutely first class and two of us who quite regularly eat Thai food agreed this was the best tasting Thai food we had ever tasted. The service and friendliness matched the high standard of the food. I would not hesitate going back for a second - unlike the Indian restaurant further down .... but that is a different story lol
Jintana Thai – WindermereI ate here for my anniversary meal in Sept 09. I paid the bill on my debit card and 1 week later had extra money debited out of my account by this restaurant. When I contacted them to discuss what had happened they advised me that unfortunatly they had under charged me and they had debited the extra amount that I owed them out of my account, without my permission. I was unaware I had been undercharged and paid my bill in good faith, but to discover that someone from the Postillion Restaurant had taken it upon themselves not only to keep hold of my debit card details but to enter them again into their card machine and draw extra money out of my account without my permission I find worrying.

Villa Positano – WindermereMy friend celebrated his birthday last week at this restaurant and foods were yummy and very tasty. Price was also reasonable. Very friendly staff. Definitely will go back there again.
Jintana Thai – WindermereEnjoyed an excellent value weekend at the Wild Boar. The hotel was friendly and comfortable. The price was excellent at £59 per person per night inc a hearty breakfast. This also got me a deal on a great dinner of salmon and steak. Very impressed.
The Wild Boar Inn, Grill & Smokehouse – WindermereAte in the brasserie which has a contemporary feel, nice relaxed atmosphere with lovely views of the well kept gardens. The menu however is nearly identical in both the brasserie and restaurant, I enjoyed salted cod, mushroom risotto followed by a delicious sticky toffee pudding, the best thing about the brasserie are the lake & garden views.
Lakeside Hotel – WindermereIn these difficult times of the recession, it was a joy to find somewhere giving real value for money with excellent food. During the month of June, the Brown Horse at Winster has been offering a two course lunch for £7. It was so good my husband have not only been back for lunch twice, but also booked an evening meal there too. Beautiful food, nicely presented and with really good traditional ales, what more could we want? We are fortunate enough to be locals, so we expect to be going there again soon. Do go and try the meals there , made with locally produced food, and don't forget to try the sticky toffee pudding......a real favourite of mine.
Brown Horse Inn – WindermereMy wife and I ate at the White House on Friday 5th June 2009. We are both in our forties and really enjoy a good night out with good company and great food. Without doubt at the White House we weren’t disappointed; we had a fabulous evening! The food and wine was excellent and all at a reasonable price. Please be assured this is not a pub restaurant in our opinion. It’s much more. Janine was our hostess for the night and she and her colleagues looked after us very well. The service is attentive without being on your shoulder every second. Consequently we have no hesitation to recommend this anyone who is in the area.
The White House – WindermereWe ate at the White House on the first evening of a 3 day holiday in Bowness. We normally prefer to try different places to eat when we are away, but were so impressed that we came back again on our 3rd evening. The food is excellent - a good selection on the menu with additional daily specials, all perfectly cooked and well presented. The staff are polite, friendly and attentive. The Fish of the Day dish we ate on our second visit was among the best sea bass I have eaten, incredible flavour and perfectly cooked. If you have room, the puddings are also well worthwhile and prepared with the same thought and care as the rest of the dishes - the sticky chocolate pudding is a must for chocoholics (lovely and rich without being too sweet) and there is an extensive list of homemade ice creams in various flavours. All in all, we're just sorry we don't live locally so we could visit more often! Excellent food at a very reasonable price, highly recommended.
The White House – WindermereWe had a most enjoyable meal here last Thursday (21/5/09). Excellent food and wine, all competitively priced. The staff were most pleasant and attentive, even though the restaurant was full. When on holiday, we tend to visit different restaurants each evening but were so impressed with The White House that we returned on 22/5/09 and enjoyed the experience a second time, even though Bowness has many restaurants from which to chose!
